Abstract

Tuna fisheries based on Benoa fishing port has undergone major changes since 1993 when yellowfin tuna dominated the catch, followed by big eye tuna and other types of tuna. Fishing vessels to catch tuna in Benoa, Bali, are dominated by tuna longline, purse seine, and troll line vessels. Vessels that are up to 30 GT (>30 GT) must install the Vessels Monitoring System (VMS) to surveillance the fishing vessels that are operating following by the regulations. VMS data provide lot of data from vessel movment, but the problem is not used optimally and the analysis of data VMS still in development, therefore this research aims to identify the utilization VMS data for survilliance dan management of tuna longline based at Benoa. The method used was descriptive analysis using a spatial data management application. The results showed that VMS data can be used to know fishing activity such as vessel position, vessel velocity, and vessel movement. Fishing activity with VMS data can indentfy infraction did by tuna longline vessel that indicated transshipment activity, infraction of fishing area, and can used to validate data between logbook data and VMS data when the vessel landed a fish catch at port. Cross matching data between VMS and logbook data show that data suitability from 2016-2018 increase in 2016 suitability data get 53%, then 2017 get 94%, and 2018 get 98%.

Abstract

Tuna fishing productivity can be seen from the production of landed production per attempt. The archipelago fishing port Palabuhanratu has become one of the active fishing ports in the southern coastal region in Java Island and it’s one of the centers of capture fisheries in the area of West Java Province. Tuna longline is an industrial-scale fishing unit to catch tuna as an export commodity. Tuna production in PPN Palabuhanratu experienced had a significant increase from 2010 to 2014. In 2014-2018 tuna production in PPN Palabuhanratu experienced had a quite drastic decline. In 2019, production will increase to 1,091,612 tons. Landing Per Unit Effort (LPUE) is used in fisheries research to indicate the abundance of resources used to conduct stock assessments when estimating the relative abundance of an exploited species. The composition of tuna catches by longline tuna vessels consists of yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacores), big eye tuna (Thunnus obesus), and albakor tuna (Thunnus alalunga). Tuna production which was landed at PPN Palabuhanratu from 2010-2019 experienced is fluctuative. In 2010 the production of yellowfin tuna was 444,952 tons, big eye tuna was 979,189 tons, albakor tuna was 122,671 tons. In 2019 the production of yellowfin tuna was 617,992 tons, big eye tuna was 240,487 tons, albakor tuna was 233,133 tons. The highest productivity occurred in yellowfin tuna in 2014 with a LPUE value of 6,09 with a production of 2,448,171 tons with a total effort of 402. Productivity has fluctuated every year.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang respons penyu terhadap lampu Light Emitting Diode (LED) warna hijau untuk mengurangi bycatch penyu telah dilakukan dalam skala laboratorium. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis respons tingkah laku penyu terhadap lampu LED hijau pada skala laboratorium. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental laboratorium dengan melakukan observasi tingkah laku penyu terhadap cahaya hijau dalam kondisi yang terkontrol. Pengujian dilakukan dengan mengamati respons berupa pergerakan dan kecepatan tukik terhadap lampu LED hijau. Spesies penyu yang menjadi objek pada pengamatan ini adalah tukik penyu hijau (Chelonia mydas) sebanyak 11 ekor dengan ukuran panjang karapas CCL 45-50 cm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyu memiliki kondisi dan tingkat sensitivitas visual dan menunjukkan respons yang sama terhadap setiap perlakuan. Penggunaan Lampu LED hijau memberikan respons penghindaran terhadap penyu. Berdasarkan respons penghindaran tersebut, lampu LED hijau dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif dalam mereduksi bycatch penyu pada kegiatan perikanan gillnet.

Abstract

Handlines are a fishing gear that is commonly used by fishermen in Banten Bay. However, the catches obtained by fishermen are few. This is because of the lack of information about the potential fishing ground that fishermen have. One of the methods to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of fishing operation is the information about the availability of fishing ground. The used of portable FADs (Fish Aggregating Devices) technology is expected to create a fishing ground so that fishing operation become more effective and efficient. The research purpose is to compare the productivity and composition of handline catching by using and without portable FAD and to determine the effectiveness of portable FAD. The method used was an experimental fishing method with 20 trips. Research showed that the dominant catches of handline fishing with portable FADs were goatfish, bream, black grouper, mackerel. Goatfish, bream, and black grouper were dominated by large sizes. The total catch of handline was 931 fish. The composition of the catch with the portable FAD was 504 of fish, while without the portable FAD was 427 of fish. The productivity of handline with portable FAD was 1.29 kg/trip, while the productivity of handline without FAD was 0.99 kg/trip. Portable FAD use during fishing operations was more effective compare to fishing operations without portable FADs.

Abstract

Perairan Aceh bagian Barat terletak di bagian Timur Samudera Indonesia. Kawasan ini merupakan perairan yang dinamis karena merupakan bagian dari perairan Indonesia yang terletak di antara dua benua dan dua samudera. Konsentrasi klorofil-a bervariasi secara bulanan di perairan ini. Penelitian ini mengamati variasi konsentrasi klorofil-a berdasarkan sirkulasi angin muson. Analisis konsentrasi klorofil-a dapat digunakan untuk membantu perkiraan produktivitas sebuah perairan. Kami menemukan bahwa konsentrasi klorofil-a di Monsun Barat lebih tinggi daripada di Monsun Timur. Sebaliknya, konsentrasi klorofil-a di Monsun Timur lebih rendah dibandingkan di Monsun Barat.

Abstract

ABSTRACTStudy of light strengthening on lift net with conical reflectors was conducted in Kao Bay waters. Three units of lift net were operated 14 nights at the full moon condition. Every lift nets were completed with three different kind of lamp cover, called tudung, reflector αr23,3o and αr32,6o. Fishing operation time of lift net were divided into two intervals of time i.e 20.00-01.00 and 01.00-05.00 WIT (East Indonesian Timezone). Total yield of lift net with reflector αr23,3o was 5.774 kg (41,45%), while that of the lift net with reflector αr 32,6o was 4.977 kg (35,72%), and that of total yield of the lift net with tudung was 3.180 kg (22,83 %). Fishing operation time of lift net at 01.00-05.00 WIT (East Indonesian Timezone) produced 12.661 kg (91 %) weight of total catch, higher than fishing operation of lift net at 20.00-01.00 am that produced 1.270 kg (9 %) weight of total catch. However, statistical analysis concluded that design of the reflector did not significantly affect the catch per trip (Pvalue > 0,05) while fishing time significantly affected the catch per trip (Pvalue < 0,05).Key words: Kao Bay, light, reflector, squid-------ABSTRAKPenelitian tentang pengaruh penguatan cahaya pada bagan dengan reflektor kerucut terhadap hasil tangkapan cumi-cumi dilakukan di perairan Teluk Kao. Tiga unit bagan dioperasikan selama 14 malam pada saat kondisi terang bulan. Masing-masing bagan dilengkapi penutup lampu berbeda, yaitu tudung standar, reflektor kerucut αr23,3o dan αr32,6o. Setiap pengoperasian bagan dibagi dalam dua interval waktu, yaitu antara 20.00-01.00 WIT dan 01.00-05.00 WIT. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penggunaan reflektor αr23,3o memberikan hasil tangkapan cumi-cumi paling banyak dengan bobot total 5.774 kg (41,45%), sedangkan bagan dengan reflektor αr32,6o seberat 4.977 kg (35,72%), dan bagan dengan tudung 3.180 kg (22,83%). Pengoperasian bagan pada interval waktu penangkapan 01.00-05.00 WIT menghasilkan bobot tangkapan 12.661 kg (91%), atau lebih tinggi dari interval waktu penangkapan 20.00-01.00 WIT (1.270 kg) atau 9% dari total hasil tangkapan. Namun hasil uji statistik menyimpulkan bahwa faktor tudung tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tangkapan cumi-cumi per trip sedangkan faktor interval waktu penangkapan berpengaruh nyata (Pvalue = 0,05).Kata kunci: Teluk Kao, cahaya, reflektor, cumi-cumi

Abstract

ABSTRACTPVC trap is used by fisherman in Java Island, southern waters to capture elver, or juvenileeels measuring < 10 gr. The problems are that trap catches too less and elver in injured condition,while buyers need a lot of good elvers for cultivating. This study tried to fix a trap construction sothat function more effective and doesn’t hurt elver. All experiments were conducted in the FishingGear Laboratory, Bogor Agricultural University. Three sections of traps were examined were therear cover of trap construction, entrance of trap construction and application two doors of traps.Furthermore, new traps made by three criteria were obtained. The entire test was conducted in theexperimental tank containing between 30-100 elvers. The test was done as much as 20-25 timeswith 20 minutes soaking time. The results showed that more elvers enter the trap which does notseal, the entrance was made from nets and had two doors of the trap. The construction trap basedon three criteria was more effective which could trap 355 elvers or 6.12 times more than thefisherman’s trap (58 elvers).Key words: elver, PVC traps, ijep, Java Island, laboratory--------ABSTRAKBubu paralon digunakan oleh nelayan di perairan selatan Pulau Jawa untuk menangkapjuvenil sidat (elver) berukuran < 10 g. Permasalahannya, jumlah tangkapan bubu tersebut sangatsedikit dan elver yang tertangkap sering dalam kondisi terluka, padahal pembeli membutuhkansangat banyak elver yang sehat untuk dibudidayakan. Penelitian ini mencoba memperbaikikonstruksi bubu agar lebih efektif dan tidak melukai elver. Seluruh penelitian dilaksanakan diLaboratorium Bahan dan Alat Penangkap Ikan, Institut Pertanian Bogor. Tiga bagian bubu yangditeliti adalah konstruksi tutupan bagian belakang bubu, konstruksi pintu masuk bubu danpenggunaan dua pintu. Selanjutnya, bubu dibuat berdasarkan ketiga kriteria yang didapatkan.Seluruh pengujian dilakukan di dalam tangki percobaan yang berisi antara 30-100 elver. Pengujiandilakukan sebanyak 20–25 ulangan dengan lama perendaman 20 menit. Hasilnya menunjukkanbahwa elver lebih banyak masuk ke dalam bubu yang tidak tertutup rapat, pintu masuk terbuat darijaring dan memiliki 2 pintu. Konstruksi bubu yang dibuat berdasarkan tiga kriteria tersebut dapatmemerangkap 355 elver, atau 6,12 kali lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan bubu nelayan (58elver).Kata kunci: elver, bubu paralon, ijep, Pulau Jawa, laboratorium

Abstract

ABSTRACTBycatch problem is a global issue and can be a driver of marine megafauna declines in the world, such as sea turtle, where is the animal's status as endangered species. Green Light Emitting Diode (LED) is known as an innovative technology to reduce sea turtle bycatch without reduce target catch effectively. The use of green LED in order to reduce sea turtle bycatch in gillnet fisheries was carried out in Paloh Coast, West Borneo during August to October 2015. Experiment performed a total of 20 settings with gillnet fleets operate two units simultaneously, ie gillnet control (without LED lights) and gillnet experiment (with LED lights). Turtles caught predominantly were in the juvenile phase as 57.14% and the potential location of capture sea turtle bycatch in station 2 (1˚52' - 1˚56' LU and 109˚14' - 109˚18' BT). The results, showed that the green turtle (Chelonia mydas) were caught of 7 turtles, were captured by control gillnet 6 turtles with an CPUE 0.29 ± 0.03 Turtle/E, while by experimental gillnet 1 turtle with an CPUE by 0,04 ± 0,009 Turtle/E. The used of green LED light was significantly reduce sea turtle bycatch of 85% without decreasing target catch.Keywords: CPUE, green LED light, sea turtle bycatchABSTRAKPermasalahan terkait bycatch merupakan isu utama global yang dapat mengancam penurunan populasi megafauna laut seperti penyu yang telah berstatus endangerd species. Lampu LED merupakan inovasi teknologi untuk mengurangi bycatch penyu tanpa mengurangi hasil tangkapan ikan utama secara efektif. Penggunaan lampu Light Emmitting Diode (LED) hijau untuk mengurangi bycatch penyu pada perikanan jaring insang (gillnet) dilakukan di perairan Paloh, Kalimantan Barat selama bulan Agustus hingga Oktober 2015. Uji coba dilakukan dengan menggunakan 2 unit kapal gillnet yang dioperasikan di setiap stasiun pengamatan secara bersamaan dengan jumlah ulangan sebanyak 20 kali, diantaranya gillnet kontrol (tanpa lampu LED) dan gillnet eksperimen (dengan lampu LED). Penyu yang tertangkap cenderung didominasi oleh fase juvenile sebesar 57,14% dan lokasi potensi tertangkapnya bycatch penyu pada stasiun 2 (1˚52' - 1˚56' LU dan 109˚14' - 109˚18' BT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyu yang tertangkap merupakan penyu hijau (Chelonia mydas) berjumlah 7 ekor, terdiri dari 6 ekor tertangkap pada gillnet kontrol dengan CPUE 0,29 ± 0,03  ekor/E, dan 1 ekor pada gillnet eksperimen dengan CPUE 0,04 ± 0,009 ekor/E. Penggunaan lampu LED hijau memberikan pengaruh secara significant untuk mengurangi bycatch penyu dengan persentase pengurangan sebesar 85% tanpa mengurangi hasil tangkapan ikan utama.Kata kunci:  CPUE, lampu LED hijau, bycatch penyu

Abstract

ABSTRACTRumpon or Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) had been used by purse seine and handline fishermen in Pacitan Regency since 2005. The use of rumpon has been associated with the catching of immature fishes in large number that would disrupt the sustainability of fish resources.  The aims of this study were to measure fishing productivity of purse seine and handline fleets operated around FADs deployed in eastern Indian Ocean waters and analyze the size distribution and gonad maturity index of the catch. This study was conducted at Tamperan Fishing Port of the Pacitan Regency, East Java Province. Daily fish landing data from both fishing fleets were collected from the Tamperan auction hall from January to December 2014 for productivity calculation. About 289 fish samples from 6 dominant species was taken randomly on-board of 3 purse seine and 2 handlines vessels from 8 different FADs for size distribution and gonad analysis. The average productivity of purse seine fleets in 2014were 6,7 tonnes/trip (s = 5 tonnes/trip) while handling fleets average productivity were 0,9 tons/trip (s = 0,6 tons/trip. Purse seine catch were dominated by immature and juvenile fish while handlines catch were larger and already mature fishes.Keywords: FADs, fishing productivity, gonad analysisABSTRAKRumpon atau Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) telah digunakan oleh nelayan pukat cincin dan pancing ulur di Kabupaten Pacitan sejak tahun 2005. Penggunaan rumpon seringkali dihubungkan dengan penangkapan ikan yang belum dewasa dalam jumlah yang terlalu banyak sehingga dapat mengganggu keberlanjutan sumber daya ikan.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghitung produktivitas alat tangkap pukat cincin dan pancing ulur yang dioperasikan dengan menggunakan alat bantu rumpon yang dipasang di Samudera Hindia bagian timur dan menganalisis ukuran dan tingkat kematangan gonad hasil tangkapannya. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Pelabuhan Perikanan Tamperan, Kabupaten Pacitan, Propinsi Jawa Timur. Data pendaratan ikan harian selama bulan Januari hingga Desember 2014 diperoleh dari unit pelaksana teknis tempat pelelangan ikan Tamperan untuk perhitungan produktivitas.  Adapun sampel ikan sebanyak 289 ekor diambil dari 3 unit kapal pukat cincin dan 2 unit kapal pancing ulur yang beroperasi di 8 rumpon yang berbeda untuk analisis sebaran ukuran dan tingkat kematangan gonad ikan hasil tangkapan. Produktivitas rata-rata pada tahun 2014 untuk alat tangkap pukat cincin yaitu sebesar 6,7 ton/trip (s = 5 ton/trip), sedangkan pancing ulur yaitu sebesar 0,9 ton/trip (s = 0,6 ton/trip). Hasil tangkapan pukat cincin didominasi oleh ikan berukuran kecil dan belum dewasa, sedangkan pancing ulur menangkap ikan yang berukuran lebih besar dan telah dewasa.Kata kunci:  rumpon, produktivitas penangkapan, analisis gonad

Abstract

Traditional use zones (TUZ) of Misool is located within the marine protected area of Misool which has high marine biodiversity, especially coral and reef fish. Regulating the use of fishing gears in TUZ of Misool,it is essential to ensure the sustainability of marine ecosystems and fisheries in the region. The  objective of this study isto determine the suitability of fishing gear inthe depth zone of less than 50 m and more than 50 m in Misool TUZ, Raja Ampat. The fishing gear suitability was assessed based on bioecological, social, and legal aspects. The method used in this research was analytic hierarchy process (AHP) whichderivesthe prioritiesfor criteria and alternative fishing gear using expert judgment. The results of the analysis showed that fishing gears that wasmost appropriate to be operated in the zone which has thewater depth of less than 50 m was handline.  The most decisive criteria for thiswasthat the fishing gear was undestructive to coral reef ecosystem and seagrass ecosystem. In addition,fishing gears that were suitable inthe zone with depth more than 50 m were trolline and handline, and the most decisive criteria wasthe availability of fish target and not causing conflict between fishermen. Oleh karena itu,pengaturan penggunaan alat tangkap ikan di ZPT Misool sangat penting untuk menjamin keberlanjutan ekosistem laut dan perikanan di wilayah ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesesuaian alat tangkap untuk dioperasikan di zona perairan pada kedalaman kurang dari 50 m dan lebih dari 50 m di ZPT Misool, Raja Ampat. Kesesuaian alat penangkapan ikan dinilai berdasarkan aspek bioekologi, sosial dan legal. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) dengan pembobotan terhadap kriteria dan alternatif alat tangkap menggunakan penilaian pakar. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa alat tangkap yang paling sesuai digunakan di zona perairan pada kedalaman kurang dari 50 m adalah pancing ulur, dengan kriteria yang paling menentukan adalah tidak merusak ekosistem terumbu karang dan ekosistem padang lamun. Kemudian pada zona perairan pada kedalaman lebih dari 50 m, alat tangkap yang sesuai digunakan adalah pancing tonda dan pancing ulur, dengan kriteria yang paling menentukan adalah ketersediaan target ikan dan tidak menimbulkan konflik antara nelayan. Alat tangkap jarring insang dan bagan perahu memiliki kesesuain yang rendah untuk digunakan dikedua zona.Kata kunci:          Analytical Hierarchy Process,kesesuaian alat tangkap, zona pemanfaatan tradisional, Marine Protected Area, Misool Raja Ampat
