Abstract

The criteria for strength and durability of construction are critical in connection with the addition of coral fragments that add to the load on the squid attractor. The two materials to be tested are PVC and bamboo pipe materials based on adding fragments or without coral fragments. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of squid attractors made of bamboo with PVC pipes as a means of developing artificial habitats for another aquatic biota with the following points, namely, examining the influence of materials and the presence of coral fragments on the effectiveness of squid attraction, knowing the presence of fish and another biota in squid attractors made of bamboo and PVC pipes as well as the quality of seawater that supports the presence of fish and marine life and tests the resistance of hydrodynamic forces of squid attractors, bamboo materials and PVC pipes aligned with coral fragment planting. The analysis methods used include the effectiveness of squid attractor, fish abundance analysis, determination of squid attractor construction based on hydrodynamic forces, normality test, and statistical test (T-test/ Wilcoxon Test). The effectiveness of bamboo and PVC squid attractors with the addition of coral fragments and without coral fragments has very effective results. The use of bamboo squid attractors with the addition of coral fragments has a more significant abundance value. The addition of coral fragments increases stability to withstand hydrodynamic forces. Abstract

Proper handling of fish is a key factor influencing the success of fresh fish distribution and trade. However, in practice, handling procedures are often inadequately implemented by fishermen, resulting in reduced fish quality and price. To address this issue, a study was conducted at the Dufa-dufa Fish Landing, Ternate City (North Maluku) to assess the distribution and quality of fresh skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis). The distribution of fresh skipjack tuna is extensive, reaching all regions of the city through various fish distribution nodes. While fishermen have endeavored to maintain the freshness, quality degradation was observed along the distribution chain. Sensory tests were conducted at each stage of the distribution process, from landing to the final consumers, assessing organoleptic attributes such as eyes, gills, and body texture. The results showed that the values differ at each node and tended to decline. The Kruskal-Wallis analysis indicated a significant difference in organoleptic values between the eyes, gills, and body texture of skipjack tuna at each distribution node (P < 0.05). These findings suggested that the freshness of skipjack tuna may decline during the distribution process.

Abstract

Nilai produktivitas tangkapan memiliki nilai rata-rata 900,8 kg/setting. Kata kunci: Karang Jeruk, produktivitas, purse seine, rumpon portable, Tegal

Abstract

Activities conducted at the Kejawanan Nusantara Fishing Port include landing of fish including loading and unloading of catches that have the highest potential for work accidents. Work accidents can result in losses such as delays in loading and unloading activities. Potential hazards can arise due to the lack of awareness of the parties involved in the loading and unloading operation process, including the authorities in handling the prevention and control of work accidents that occur. This study aims to describe loading and unloading activities, identify potential hazards, and develop recommendations and risk mitigation. The research was conducted in October-November 2024 at Kejawanan VAT, Cirebon. The analysis used was descriptive with the Hierarchy Task Analysis (HTA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) methods. The results of the study identified six main stages namely pre-unloading, unloading activities, post-unloading, pre-loading, loading activities, and post-loading which included 62 potential hazards, categorized as 25% non-hazardous, 33% mild, 17% medium, 19% severe, and 6% potentially fatal. Prevention of work accidents can be done through increasing awareness of the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), certification of transportation drivers to prevent fatal accidents, and strict supervision by port managers. This effort is expected to improve work safety in every loading and unloading activity at Kejawanan PPN. Key words: HTA, JSA, loading and unloading, PPN Kejawanan, work safety
