Abstract

The objectives of this research are to determine the errors of mathematics education students in solving the PISA adaptation test. This research is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach that will produce descriptive data in the form of a description of the types and locations of student errors in solving PISA 2022. The subjects in this study were six students of the Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika Program Studi Diluar Kampus Utama (PSDKU) at Pattimura University in Maluku Barat Daya. They were in the second, fourth, and sixth semesters. Five students from each semester were asked to solve a question on the PISA adaptation test level 6, the highest level of the PISA test, as the method for selecting the subject. Six subjects were selected as research subjects out of the 15 who took the test. The conclusions in this study are that the ability of subjects to solve the PISA adaptation test is still very low. Only 3 out of 15 students can answer and provide the right solution for the test, and only 6 out of 15 students can figure out what to do to solve PISA adaptation test level 6. However, among the six students who gave their answers to this problem, there are some who have conceptual errors in the topic of SPLDV (System of Linear Equations with Two Variables). Besides conceptual errors, researchers also found that there is a subject who is incorrect in solving basic arithmetic operations involving parentheses

Abstract

Rational investors tend to diversify their asset for reducing investment risk. Markowitz portfoliomodel can be an investment strategy to minimize risk and maximize return of investment. This studyestablishes the Markowitz model portfolio with positive asset weight constraints and determined targetreturns. Quadratic programming is an approach used to determine the proportion of each stock in theportfolio. Therefore, 5 efficient portfolios with less risk level than individual stocks are obtained. Theresults of the performance measurement stated that the portfolio with asset centered proportion on BYANhad the best performance. It is due to the high expected returns and low level of risk measurement.

Abstract

This program aims to reduce the percentage of school dropouts in border islands. Through this program, researchers created an educational environment by involving students of the Study Program Student Association (HMPS). This program was held every Saturday in Wakarleli, Maluku Barat Daya, during October 2023 - November 2023 involving around 20 children in various age categories and around 5-10 students at each meeting. The method used in this activity is descriptive method. The activities supporting the program are educational games which are implemented at the beginning and at the end of the meeting, the introduction of letters and numbers, and counting activities. The results of evaluations and interviews show that this program can increase children's confidence levels, train their communication skills, patience, tolerance, and helping attitudes between children. In addition to the great benefits for the children, this program also provides huge benefits for the students and lecturers involved. For students, this program is considered to increase their creativity in making learning media. Where this skill is a much needed skill, especially for students of the Mathematics Education and PGSD Study Programs. In addition, for students of the Law Study Program, this activity can also foster sensitivity in society and improve their communication skills which are also needed in their future profession. In general, in this program students are trained to work together, socialize and build their confidence to be in public.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a guidebook for the use of GeoGebra in creating mathematics learning media based on ethnomathematics for university students in mathematics education study program at Pattimura University PSDKU Maluku Barat Daya. The method used in this research is Research and Development (R&D) with 4D model developed by Thiagarajan et al. (1974) which consists of 4 stages, namely Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate. This method and model are very feasible and systematically supports the development of the guidebook. By involving 2 validators, namely material experts and linguists, the draft of the guidebook was then revised and tested on a small limited group. Furthermore, based on descriptive statistical analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis, it can be concluded that the reference book using GeoGebra has been successfully prepared and meets the criteria of valid and effective. In addition, the use of this guidebook can also increase students' knowledge in understanding material related to cartesian coordinates, especially in drawing graphs of linear functions, quadratic functions, polynomials, trigonometric functions, exponent functions, and logarithms.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the mathematical problem solving and reading literacy abilities of students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Tiakur. Furthermore, this research was conducted to show whether or not there is an influence of reading literacy skills on students' mathematical problem solving abilities and to find out what form this influence takes. The data analysis used in this research is simple linear regression analysis with the general form . The variables in this research consist of the dependent variable (problem solving ability) which is denoted by Y and the independent variable (reading literacy) which is denoted by (X). The results of this research show that students' reading literacy influences students' problem solving abilities and the effect is positive with the regression equation .

Abstract

Ketimpangan pendidikan di Indonesia salah satunya disebabkan oleh keterbatasan sumber daya guru, terutama dalam memanfaatkan media pembelajaran interaktif. Guru di daerah terpencil cenderung kurang memanfaatkan media inovatif dibandingkan guru di kota besar. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan memperkuat kemampuan guru dalam menerapkan Gimkit sebagai media pembelajaran inovatif di kelas, khususnya untuk mata pelajaran matematika. Pelatihan diberikan kepada guru SMP di Kecamatan Moa, Kabupaten Maluku Barat Daya, melalui tiga tahapan: (1) sosialisasi program, (2) pelatihan penggunaan Gimkit secara offline di Aula PSDKU Unpatti, dan (3) evaluasi melalui kuesioner dan wawancara. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan antusiasme guru untuk menerapkan Gimkit di kelas, yang dinilai dapat meningkatkan minat belajar dan mempermudah siswa memahami matematika. Program ini diharapkan menjadi wadah pengembangan kompetensi guru matematika di Kecamatan Moa dan memberi dampak positif bagi proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) yang dilaksanakan di Desa Wakarleli, Kec. Moa, Kab. Maluku Barat Daya ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan pengalaman belajar matematika yang kreatif, interaktif, dan menyenangkan bagi anak-anak. Program ini memanfaatkan berbagai metode kreatif, termasuk color by number, pendekatan jarimatika, metode butterfly untuk operasi pecahan dan berbagai permainan edukatif yang memanfaatkan aktivitas fisik, untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi matematika. Kegiatan ini melibatkan sekitar 20 anak di Desa Wakarleli dengan rentang usia 6–12 tahun serta latar belakang pendidikan yang beragam, mulai dari anak-anak yang masih bersekolah hingga yang sudah putus sekolah. Pelaksanaan program ini didukung oleh para fasilitator yang terdiri dari mahasiswa dan dosen Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika serta Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD) Universitas Pattimura Kab. Maluku Barat Daya. Mereka memberikan bimbingan yang intensif, baik dalam memandu kegiatan utama maupun membantu anak-anak yang menghadapi kendala dalam memahami materi. Hasilnya, kegiatan belajar matematika yang dirancang ini berhasil menciptakan suasana belajar yang menyenangkan, interaktif, dan mendukung pengembangan keterampilan sosial serta akademik anak-anak. Implikasi dari kegiatan ini terhadap masyarakat adalah peningkatan kualitas pendidikan dan minat belajar anak-anak, yang dapat berkontribusi pada perkembangan mereka.

Abstract

Pelatihan Media Pembelajaran Matematika (Canva) di SD Tiakur bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan guru dalam memanfaatkan teknologi untuk proses pembelajaran. Di era digital saat ini, penggunaan media visual menjadi sangat penting untuk menarik perhatian siswa dalam belajar matematika. Kegiatan ini mencakup pelatihan langsung bagi para guru dalam menggunakan aplikasi Canva untuk menciptakan materi pembelajaran yang interaktif dan menarik. Metode yang diterapkan adalah pendekatan partisipatif, di mana guru dilibatkan untuk aktif berlatih dan bertukar pengalaman. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman guru tentang pentingnya media pembelajaran yang inovatif serta kemampuan mereka dalam menciptakan media pembelajaran yang menarik dan menunjukkan tingkat antusiasme yang lebih tinggi untuk meningkatkan kompetensi yang dimiliki. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan dampak positif terhadap proses pembelajaran matematika, meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan, serta memotivasi siswa untuk lebih giat belajar.

Abstract

This case study examines the understanding of Han (a pseudonym), a prospective elementary school teacher in Universitas Pattimura Southwest Maluku Regency, in three weeks with two two-hour meetings each week. The investigator collected data by giving The Integer Test of Primary Operation and followed by an interview. During the research, it was found that Han's conceptual errors occurred in the addition of positive and negative integers, addition of negative integers, subtraction of positive integers, subtraction of negative integers and subtraction involving both positive and negative integers. These conceptual errors occurred because Han applied the rules of multiplication to addition and subtraction. Moreover, in some cases Han also did not pay attention to the operation in the question. It can be concluded that the use of beach pebbles as learning media followed by intensive course can improve Han's understanding in addition and subtraction of integers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas penggunaan media pembelajaran FarmQuest, sebuah board game edukatif berbasis simulasi dalam meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Produksi Ternak Sapi Perah. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen semu (quasi-experiment) yaitu one group pretest-posttest design tanpa kelompok kontrol. Subjek penelitian adalah sembilan orang mahasiswa aktif Program Studi Peternakan PSDKU Universitas Pattimura di Kabupaten Maluku Barat Daya. Instrumen pengumpulan data meliputi tes tertulis untuk mengukur aspek kognitif, kuesioner persepsi berbasis skala Likert untuk menilai respons afektif mahasiswa, serta lembar observasi untuk menilai partisipasi selama proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan rata-rata nilai pretest ke posttest dari 62,5 menjadi 83,2, dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,001 (p < 0,05). Data kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas mahasiswa merasa pembelajaran menjadi lebih menyenangkan, interaktif serta membantu pemahaman konsep-konsep teknis. Observasi lapangan juga mencatat peningkatan partisipasi aktif mahasiswa dalam diskusi, pemecahan masalah dan pengambilan keputusan selama penggunaan media FarmQuest. Media ini terbukti mampu mengintegrasikan aspek kognitif, afektif dan sosial dalam pembelajaran serta menjembatani kesenjangan antara teori dan praktik. Oleh karena itu, FarmQuest merupakan alternatif media yang potensial untuk diterapkan dalam kurikulum pembelajaran praktis di bidang peternakan, terutama untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konseptual, keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kesiapan mahasiswa menghadapi tantangan di dunia kerja.
