Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the influence of brain based learning (BBL) model toward biology learning achievement of X degree students at SMA Negeri Colomadu in academic year 2012/2013.This research was a quasi experiment research using posttest only non equivalent group design. This research applied BBL model in experimental group and deduktif approach with discussion, classical course and question-answer method in control group. The population of this research was all of X degree students at SMA Negeri Colomadu in 2011/2012 academic year. Sampling techniques used cluster sampling, that has chosen X4 as experiment group and X5 as control group. Data was collected using  multiple choice test, observation sheet, and document. The data were analyzed by t-test. This research concluded that the application of BBL model has taken good effect toward student’s achievement cognitive, psychomotor, and  affective domain in learning biology of SMA Negeri Colomadu. Keywords: Brain Based Learning Model, Biology Learning Achievement.

Abstract

This research’s aim is to improve the posing question skill of the students in X Imersi 1 of SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar academic Year 2013/2014 about ecosystem material through discovery learning application.     This research is a class action research which consists of three cycles. Each cycle contains planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The research subject is the students in X Imersi 1 of SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar Academic Year 2013/2014. The data source is from the questions that cover the quantity and quality of the question. The question’s quantity is counted from the sum of questions that is given by the students while the question’s quality is counted from the sum of questions’ kind that is given by the students based on their thinking process and knowledge dimension. Data collecting techniques of this research are using observation, interview and documentation then data validation is using triangulation method. Data analyzing technique of this research is descriptive qualitative analysis which is done in three components, they are: data reduction, data presentation and drawing the conclusion or verification. The research’ procedure is using spiral mode which is interdependent. The result of the research shows that the implementation of discovery learning improves the students’ posing question skill that covers the quantity and quality of the question. The question’s quantity improvement from pre-cycle to the first cycle is 70 questions, the first cycle to the second cycle is 46 questions and the second cycle to the third cycle is 20 questions. Then the question’s quality improvement from pre-cycle to the first cycle is 29,16%, the first cycle to the second cycle is 17,18% and the second cycle to the third cycle is 16,14%. This research’s conclusion is the implementation of discovery learning can improve the posing question skill of the students in X Imersi 1 of SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar academic Year 2013/2014 about ecosystem material. Key Words: discovery learning, posing question skill

Abstract

The aim of this research is to ascertain the influence of collaborative- constructivist learning models toward critical thinking ability of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2012/2013.  This research was quasi experiment research which used posttest only nonequivalent control group design.  The population of this research was all of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2012/2013.   Sampling techniques used cluster sampling that choosed X6 as experiment group and X7 as control group. Data was collected using test and non test.  Test method using critical thinking test. Non test method using observation sheet and document.  The hypotheses analyzed by t-test. Abstract

Marine water which has been polluted by heavy metals such as lead (Pb) from port activities can affect marine life, however several microorganisms are able to adapt in polluted waters due to their resistant capabilities. The research aimed to obtain isolates bacterial which are resistant to Pb and to test their resistant ability. Bacterial isolation was obtained from sediment and seawater taken in Paotere Port, Makassar. The isolation of the resistant bacteria was done using nutrient agar media which contained 10 ppm of Pb. The growth of the bacteria was initially observed macroscopically and microscopically to determine type of the colony. Resistant test for each type of isolate was done by inoculating them on nutrient broth media which contained different concentration of Pb: 5 ppm, 10 ppm, 15 ppm, 20 ppm, 25 ppm, and a control. The test resulted in eight different isolates, five isolates from sediment samples and three from seawater samples. The results showed that each isolate has different degree of resistant toward Pb. Isolate IA1 has the higher resistant ability, and it was followed by isolate IS5.---Perairan laut tercemar logam berat timbal (Pb), yang bersumber dari aktifitas pelabuhan, dapat mengganggu kehidupan biota laut, namun sejumlah mikrorganisme mampu beradaptasi karena memiliki kemampuan resistan.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh isolat bakteri yang resistan terhadap Pb dan menguji kemampuan resistansinya. Isolasi bakteri diperoleh dari sampel sedimen dan air laut dari Pelabuhan Paotere, Makassar.Untuk isolasi bakteri resistan menggunakan media nutrient agar yang megandung 10 ppm Pb. Bakteri yang tumbuh diamati secara makropskopis dan mikroskopis sebagai pendekatan awal untuk mengetahui jenis isolat. Uji resistansi dilakukan untuk setiap jenis isolat, yang diinokulasikan pada media nutrient broth pada konsentrasi Pb sebesar 5 ppm, 10 ppm, 15 ppm. 20 ppm, 25 ppm dan 0 ppm sebagai kontrol.  Hasilnya, diperoleh delapan jenis isolat yang berbeda, yaitu lima jenis isolat dari sampel sedimen dan tiga dari sampel air laut. Dari hasil uji memperlihatkan, bahwa setiap isolat memiliki kemampuan resistansi berbeda-beda terhadap Pb. Isolat IA1 kemampuan resistansinya lebih tinggi, kemudian isolat IS5.

Abstract

This study aims to examine teh effect of static, dynamic, and static dynamic media to conceptual understanding of students grade XI. The participant were selected using a cluster sampling and selected samples were class scince 3, science 5, science 6, and science 7. Science 7 as control class, Science 3 as first experiment class that use static media, Science 5 as second experiment class(dynamic media), and science 6 as third experiment class with static-dynamic media. The total participants were 148 students. Learning was focused on the topic of human reproductive system. The conceptual understanding of students was assesed by two-tier test at the end of experiment. Data was analyzed analyzed by One Way ANOVA test with α = 0.05,  and further tested with Duncan test. The results are (1) there is an effect of type of media used to the conceptual understanding of students; (2) static-dynamic media shows the highest score. It is concluded that static-dynamic media can be recommended to apply in the biology class, particularly on human reproductive system

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan pendekatan accelerated learning terhadap hasil belajar biologi siswa kelas XII SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta tahun pelajaran 2011/2012. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam eksperimen semu dengan desain penelitian adalah posttest only control design. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan accelerated learning pada kelompok eksperimen dan pendekatan deduktif dengan metode diskusi, ceramah dan tanya jawab pada kelompok kontrol. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa siswa kelas XII SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta tahun pelajaran 2011/2012.  Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan cluster random sampling, sehingga diperoleh kelas XII IPA 1 sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan XII IPA 2 sebagai kelompok kontrol.  Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket, tes pilihan ganda, lembar observasi, dan dokumen sekolah. Uji hipotesis menggunakan uji-t. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan accelerated learning berpengaruh nyata terhadap hasil belajar biologi siswa kelas XII SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta baik pada ranah kognitif, afektif maupun psikomotorik.   Kata Kunci: pendekatan accelerated learning, hasil belajar biologi.

Abstract

The research aims to know the biology concepts mastery difference between guided discovery learning with concept maps and mind maps in senior high school students. The type of this research is quasy experimental research using pos-test only only nonequivalent control group design. The population were students grade X of SMA N 1 Boyolali academic year 2016/2017. The sampel were X MIA 4 (using guided discovery learning with concept maps), X MIA 5 (using guided discovery learning with mind maps), and X MIA 6 (using guided discovery learning), selected through claster random sampling. Post-test data was analyzed with one way Anova test, followed with comparison test of Tukey’s method (with level of significance 0.05), make used of Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) 23.0. The result showed that there were biology concepts mastery difference between implementation of guided discovery learning with concept maps method and mind maps method in students grade X of SMA N 1 Boyolali academic year 2016/2017. The biology concepts mastery of guided discovery learning with concept maps method increase five of seven indicators of concept mastery. There are know the feature of a concept, know characteristic of a concept, know and use concept correlation, and apply a concept to solve problem. Guided discovery learning with mind maps methode work up to select example or not of a concept, and recognize a concept in different case.

Abstract

Abstrak Purpose of this research is to improvement biological learning process at human nervous and sense system materials by using audiovisual media and Snowball Throwing method on the eleventh years of natural science 2 in Batik I Surakarta senior high school the year educated of 2007/2008. Kind of this research is Classroom Action Research (PTK), which is conducted in 2 cycles. The action research includes: identifying, planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Subject of this research is student of eleventh years of natural science 2 in Batik I Surakarta senior hight school the year educated of 2007/2008. Technique collecting data are observational technique by using observational document, questionnaire, interview, document analysis, and test. Technique analyzing data in this research use descriptive qualitative method. The result of the research show that utilization of audiovisual media and Snowball Throwing method can improvement biological learning process which is characterized with the increases of student's result. The result of observatioru student's learning process is increases of active students from first cycle to second cycle are 16,275%. The result of average student's cognitive study increases 10,5 from first cycle to second cycle. The result of student's affective study increases 5,58% from first cycle to second cycle. Based on the research can be concluded that: utilization of audiovisual media and Snowball Throwing rnethod can improvement biological learning process on the eleventh years of natural science 2 in Batik I Surakarta senior high school the year educated of 2007/2008. Abstract

Skill dalam penyusunan lesson design adalah salah satu knowledge base teaching atau pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) yang harus dikuasai guru. Kemampuan ini dapat dilatihkan melalui Collaborative Action Research (CAR). Pada penelitian ini, ada tiga komponen pelaku yang melakukan kolaborasi untuk memperbaiki lesson design animalia biologi SMA, yaitu guru biologi, mahasiswa calon guru biologi, dan dosen pendidikan biologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis desain pembelajaran yang dibuat secara kolaboratif untuk memperbaiki partisipasi siswa di kelas. Penelitian melibatkan satu orang guru Biologi dan 36 siswa sebagai subjek proses belajar mengajar yang merupakan siswa dalam satu kelas di sebuah SMA di Karanganyar, Jawa Tengah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan dokumentasi lesson design guru, wawancara kepada guru dan siswa, observasi proses pembelajaran, dan perekaman audio dan video pembelajaran. Analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan Science Lesson Plan Analysis Instrument (SLPAI). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karakteristik lesson plan yang disusun guru melalui CAR dapat mengarahkan siswa untuk mempelajari sains sebagai proses memperoleh pengetahuan baru, dan meningkatkan partisipasi siswa dalam proses mengkonstruksi pengetahuannya.. Keywords:        lesson design, CAR, PCK, animalia, biologi SMA
