Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of waste management services in Pekanbaru through the role of partnerships between the government, the private sector, and the community. Qualitative methods with case studies were applied in this research. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Data analysis through thematic coding. Triangulation were conducted to verify the findings by comparing data from various sources and ensuring consistency of results. The results of the study indicated that the efficiency and effectiveness of waste management services are highly dependent on synergy between stakeholders, transparency of information, and collective efforts. The waste bank and composting programs have been proven to reduce the volume of waste that needs to be managed, accelerate the recycling process, and extend the operational period of the Final Disposal Site (FDS). However, although partnerships with the private sector and growing community participation are important solutions, there are still obstacles to sharing information, community understanding, and collective responsibility and communication mechanisms. For this reason, the city government needs to build more effective and interactive communication channels through digital-based complaint applications and information services that enable two-way feedback.

Abstract

Abstract: Sustainable village planning has become a major focus in Indonesia's national development strategy. The concept aims to create rural communities that are resilient, self-reliant, and able to meet the needs of the current generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This study aims to produce a governance model for stakeholder collaboration in organising sustainable village planning. The model is designed to facilitate sustainable village planning through a collaborative approach involving various stakeholders and their decision-making and implementation processes. Collaboration in village planning is not just an option, but a necessity to realise sustainable village development and through a collaborative approach villages can optimise potential, overcome challenges, and achieve development goals more effectively. Abstract

The environmental crisis, particularly related to organic waste and pollution, has become a major challenge that needs to be addressed immediately. One effective way to reduce waste volume is by processing it into beneficial products, such as eco-enzyme, a fermented liquid derived from organic waste that offers various eco-friendly benefits, including water purification and soil enrichment. Waste management education should be introduced from an early age, and universities play a crucial role in promoting this program through a structured managerial approach. Additionally, the implementation of waste management based on efficiency and sustainability can lead to the creation of environmentally friendly economic products, adding value to society. Based on this, the Community Service Team of Unilak Postgraduate Lecturers conducted a community engagement program to enhance waste management through eco-enzyme production training at SMK Negeri 7 Pekanbaru, a school committed to fostering an energy-saving culture and environmental conservation. This activity aimed to educate students on how to process organic waste into eco-enzyme, contribute to environmental preservation, and encourage the development of sustainability-based products with economic potential for the community. The results of this activity showed an improvement in students' understanding of the eco-enzyme concept, both in theory and practice. Students not only grasped the benefits of eco-enzyme in waste management but also successfully produced eco-enzyme independently through hands-on practice. Moreover, this activity fostered students' awareness of the importance of sustainable organic waste management, which is expected to be applied in their daily lives.
