Abstract

This research aimed to describe the improvement of students' critical thinking skills after applying Case Based Learning (CBL) model. The research method used in this study is quantitative research with a pre-experimental design approach (one group pretest and posttest) with the aim of providing treatment to one experimental group without a control group. Furthermore the data was analyzed using normalized gain to see the increase in students' pre-test and post-test. The results of the analysis show that the students' critical thinking skills test results increased by 0.78 so that they obtained the high criteria.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach on improving learning outcomes, learning activeness, and student responses to vibration, wave, and sound materials. This study is a quasi-experiment research with a nonequivalent control group design. The subjects in this study involved all class VIII students at one of the Islamic Junior High Schools in Situbondo Regency, totaling 62 students. The sample in this study was taken using a saturated sampling technique, where 31 class VIII-A students were selected as the experimental group and 31 class VIII-B students were selected as the control group. Data collection instruments used observation sheets, study test sheets, and response questionnaire sheets. The data analysis techniques used in this research are quantitative descriptive data analysis and qualitative data analysis. The observations of learning implementation showed an average of 96.33% and student activity showed an average of 81.88% with each in the very good category. Through the contextual teaching and learning approach, student learning outcomes experienced an increase in the N-gain score of 76.88% or 0.77 in the high category. Student responses to the contextual teaching and learning approach showed an average of 97.09% in the very good category. So, a conclusion can be drawn that the contextual teaching and learning approach improved learning outcomes and student learning activity.

Abstract

Bencana gunung meletus merupakan salah satu bencana alam yang sering terjadi di Indonesia. Hal ini dikarenakan Indonesia dikelilingi oleh tiga lempeng tektonik yang ada di dunia. Bahaya akibat letusan gunung berapi dapat berupa awan panas, lontaran material, hujan abu, tsunami, dan banjir lahar. Letusan gunung berapi ini dapat menyebabkan adanya korban jiwa dan kerugian harta benda. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya mitigasi bencana berupa sistem peringatan dini untuk mengurangi risiko dan dampak yang terjadi akibat letusan gunung berapi. Tujuan dari literatur riview ini adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman pentingnya literasi kebencanaan untuk masyarakat agar mengerti tentang apa yang seharusnya dilakukan pada saat bencana belum terjadi (prabencana), saat bencana terjadi (tanggap darurat), dan saat pasca bencana. Database yang digunakan untuk pencarian adalah SCOPUS yang kemudian diseleksi berdasarkan judul, kata kunci, dan abstrak untuk kesesuaian dengan topik kajian sehingga didapatkan 9 artikel yang relevan. Dari literatur riview yang dilakukan didapatkan hasil bahwa telah banyak dikembangkan sistem peringatan dini untuk mitigasi bencana gunung metelus di berbagai negara. Sistem peringatan dini tersebut mengkombinasikan sensor dan teknologi untuk mendeteksi adanya aktivitas gunung berapi yang memicu adanya letusan sehingga dapat menggurangi risiko dan dampak yang akan terjadi. Sistem-sistem tersebut seperti pemantauan InSAR, aplikasi WebGIS, dan sistem peringatan dini otomatis yang mengkombinasikan data dari kamera termal, radar cuaca, dan sensor infrasonik.

Abstract

Hujan asam merupakan salah satu dampak pencemaran udara oleh polutan di udara yang berasal dari pembakaran bahan bakar fosil, emisi kendaraan bermotor, emisi industri yang mengolah hasil pertanian dan pembakaran industri. Pendekatan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini berbentuk kepustakaan atau studi literatur dengan sumber data dari buku, jurnal, artikel dari website SCOPUS dan sumber lainnya yang kemudian diseleksi berdasarkan judul, kata kunci, dan abstrak yang relevan dengan topik. Teknik pengumpulan data dan informasi yang digunakan adalah studi dokumentasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui solusi berkelanjutan untuk memperbaiki ekosistem atmosfer dalam mencapai SDGs. SDGs menawarkan arahan global untuk mengatasi permasalahan dunia yang dihadapi komunitas internasional. Didapatkan hasil dari studi literatur beberapa upaya memperbaiki ketidakseimbangan ekosistem atmosfer, yaitu: mendaur ulang semua jenis material yang tidak terpakai, praktik pengomposan sisa makanan, mengurangi konsumsi daging dan beralih ke diet nabati, memilih produk ramah lingkungan dan bisa digunakan kembali, mulai aktivitas menggunakan sepeda, berjalan kaki, atau angkutan umum, mengurangi penggunaan kertas.

Abstract

The universe is a space containing large amounts of both organic and inorganic carbon that has the potential to encourage heterotrophs on habitable planets. Meteorites are materials that can transport carbon from outer space to the planet's surface. Meteorites bombarded the Earth's surface during the early days of evolution and proliferation of life, potentially providing a source of abiotic organic carbon to support early life. This study aims to analyze research methods used in detecting the use of space organic carbon, analyze research results related to the role of space organic carbon, and provide further understanding to the researchers associated with organic carbon from space and its potential in human life on Earth. This study uses a systematic review method using 15 sources of information from national and international news and journal articles related to space organic carbon and its potential. This study showed that extraterrestrial organic carbon produces a source of carbon that is beneficial for microorganisms to integrate into their proteins. Combining inverse stable isotope labeling and infrared spectroscopy shows that organic carbon from Aguas Zarcas carbon chondrite can be harnessed for cell growth. Previous discoveries have also shown that aerobic microbial communities have potential in human space settlement plans to access and research carbonaceous asteroid material.

Abstract

Artikel dengan judul “Meningkatkan Kerangka Berpikir Peserta Didik Melalui Metode Pembelajaran Beragam pada Materi Pengetahuan Bumi dan Antariksa” bertujuan untuk melakukan analisis terkait metode pengajaran yang dapat diimplementasikan pada peserta didik tingkat menengah dalam pembelajaran sains materi bumi dan antariksa. Metode yang digunakan dalam artikel ini yaitu metode kualitatif dengan menekankan fokus kepustakaan yang bersumber dari kajian literatur lingkup scopus dan sinta dengan pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan menekankan analisis tertulis dan deskriptif. Jurnal yang ditemui berjumlah 32 buah kemudian mengklasifikasikan sesuai dengan metode peninjau sehingga terdapat 3 sampai 8 jurnal. Berdasarkan analisis yang telah dilakukan, melalui metode pembelajaran berbasis website, Problem Based Learning (PBL), Inkuiri, maupun Empiris STEAM tersebut dinilai dapat digunakan dalam mengaplikasikan materi pengetahuan bumi dan antariksa karena adanya gabungan sifat seni dan rekaya sehingga mampu membangun kerangka berpikir peserta didik yang dapat diimplementasikan dalam menghadapi permasalahan di dunia nyata. Selain itu, metode tersebut yang dilaksanakan dengan baik dan benar akan menciptakan proses pembelajaran yang bermakna serta meningkatkan pendidikan yang berkualitas.

Abstract

Terdapat beberapa faktor, seperti garis lintang dan bujur geografis, aktivitas matahari, waktu setempat, dan gangguan geomagnetik, mempengaruhi total kandungan elektron di ionosfer. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengukur kandungan elektron total di ionosfer selama gerhana matahari total yang melanda Indonesia pada 9 Maret 2016. Data GPS-TEC dari dua stasiun di daerah di mana terjadi gerhana matahari dengan intensitas berbeda-beda digunakan. Yogyakarta dan Bitung merupakan stasiun yang dimanfaatkan. Gerhana matahari terjadi di wilayah Bitung berkekuatan 0,97 dan di wilayah Yogyakarta berkekuatan 0,849. Data GPS-TEC dibandingkan dengan data sehari sebelum dan sesudah gerhana untuk menentukan yang mana. Pembacaan GPS-TEC dari hari terjadinya gerhana dibandingkan dengan pembacaan dari hari sebelum dan sesudahnya, yang dianggap sebagai pembacaan GPS-TEC pada umumnya. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada hari terjadinya gerhana, terjadi penyimpangan nilai kandungan elektron total. Nilai kandungan elektron total abnormal yang jauh lebih besar diperoleh di stasiun Bitung dibandingkan di stasiun Yogyakarta.

Abstract

This classroom action research aimed to improve students' activities and learning outcomes in science learning by using a problem-based learning model that includes TaRL (Teaching at the Right Level) and CASEL competencies. The subject of the research was 34 students from class VIII junior high school at SMP Negeri 1 Gresik. The results of Classroom Action research, which includes classroom observations and learning activity questionnaires, assess student learning outcomes in science learning. Research shows that students' active role increased from 55.52% to 87.61% in cycles one and two, and there was a positive correlation between active role and student learning outcomes, which increased from 23.53% to 82.34%. According to positive student feedback collected through questionnaires, this increase shows that students' active roles and learning outcomes in science learning are supported by learning activities in the problem-based learning model that integrates TaRL and CASEL. This strengthens that this approach is effective in increasing student engagement and learning outcomes in science learning.

Abstract

This research was motivated by students low interest and learning outcomes in science learning. The science learning process cannot fully meet students' needs and interests, causing low student learning outcomes. Teaching using the Teaching at The Right Level (TaRL) approach integrated with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can facilitate various student learning characteristics and interests. The research aimed to determine the increase in learning interest and learning outcomes in science lessons on Elements, Compounds and Mixtures. This research used Classroom Action Research which was carried out in two cycles with each cycle containing four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, then ending with reflection. Learning interest data was obtained through a learning interest questionnaire, while learning outcome data was obtained from written tests which were then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the average percentage of students' interest in learning before the action was 73.85% (fair) then increased to 79.97% (very high) after the action was given. In learning outcomes, an increase was obtained with an average score of 71.87 with learning completeness of 77.42% in cycle I and 82.19 in cycle II with learning completeness of 90.32%. Therefore, the SEL integrated TaRL approach with the PBL model can increase student interest and learning outcomes.
