Abstract

The application of various types of organic matter as ameliorant and NPK fertilizer can increase the fertility of ultisol soil, physically and chemically. The study aimed to determine the effect of ameliorant types, the dose of NPK fertilizer and their interaction on the growth and development of glutinous corn on ultisol soil. The research was conducted in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan from March to August 2020. The research used a factorial randomized block design. The first factor was the types of ameliorants with 5 levels, namely corncob biochar, corn waste bokashi, rice straw bokashi, cow manure, and chicken manure. The second factor was the dosage of NPK fertilizer with 4 levels, i.e., 100, 200, 300, and 400 kg ha-1. The chicken manure ameliorant increased plant height 2, 4, and 6 WAP (weeks after planting), ear diameter, ear length, ear weight per ear, and ear weight per plot. The best dose of NPK fertilizer for glutinous maize production is 200 kg ha-1 on ear length and weight per ear, and a dose of 100 kg ha-1 can stimulate plant growth based on plant height of 4 WAP. The combination of chicken manure and NPK fertilizer of 400 kg ha-1 produced the highest root dry weight, crown dry weight, and relative growth rate. Abstract

The growth and yield of rice in limited soil water are expected to increase through the application of mycorrhizae due to the increasing root ability to absorb water and nutrients from the soil. The study aimed to determine the role of mycorrhizae on the growth and yield of rice plants in different soil water content. The study was conducted in Mempawah District, West Kalimantan, in February-June 2022. The experiment was arranged in a split-plot randomized complete block design with main plots of mycorrhizae treatment on seedlings (without and with mycorrhizae application), and subplots of soil water content (100%, 80%, 60%). The results showed that mycorrhizae could colonize 60-80% of roots and increase phosphorus absorption at up to 60% of soil water content. Application of mycorrhizae improved plant growth up to 80% of soil water content for the maximum number of a tiller, and 60% of soil water content for the leaf area. Mycorrhizae performed better to increase yield at up to 80% soil water content on the number of productive tillers and grain index of 1,000 seeds, and it performed better at a soil water content of 100% for grain weight per hill. Abstract

The growth and yield of tomatoes in peat soil with limited nutrient availability are expected to increase with the application of mycorrhizae, where mycorrhizae plays a role in the efficiency of fertilization in plants. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of arbuscular mycorrhizae fungi (AMF) from peat ecosystems and alluvial soil ecosystems on the growth and yield of tomatoes at different levels of nutrient stress in peat soil. The study was conducted using a completely randomized factorial design. The first factor was the type of soil source of AMF propagules (without AMF, AMF from peat ecosystems, and AMF from alluvial soil ecosystems). The second factor was the dose of NPK fertilizer (100%, 75%, 50%, and 25% of recommended). The results showed that arbuscular mycorrhizae fungi propagules originating from peat ecosystems and alluvial soil ecosystems increased the growth and yield of tomatoes on peat soil. The AMF propagules from peat vegetation with 50% NPK fertilization of the recommended dose effectively increased the production of tomato plants based on the variables of single-fruit weight and total fruit weight per plant. Abstract
