Abstract

A 36-year-old male presented to the hospital with a chief symptom of dyspnea that began one day before admission and increased during the night upon admission. The individual does not experience nausea, vomiting, heartburn, and has regular urination and normal bowel movements. Loss of appetite and fatigue. There is no prior record of comparable grievances. The existence of a history of trauma cannot be refuted. Past medical history: The patient had pulmonary TB and completed treatment in April 2023. During the physical examination, the patient's overall condition was observed to be moderately unwell, with a clear and alert state of consciousness. Assessment of vital signs revealed a blood pressure of 117/84 mmHg, a pulse rate of 65 beats per minute, a respiratory rate of 25 breaths per minute, a body temperature of 37°C, and an oxygen saturation level of 94%. In the thoracic region, the examination reveals the following findings: - Inspection shows movement of the chest wall on the left side. - Palpation detects weakened tactile fremitus on the left side. - Percussion produces a hypersonor sound on the left side. - Auscultation reveals normal vesicular sounds on the right side and weak vesicular sounds on the left side. Rhonchi are not present, but wheezing is heard in both sides of the chest. The supporting studies yielded a complete blood count within normal range, a VCT examination showing non-reactive HIV antibodies, a TCM sputum examination with undetectable MTB findings, and a chest X-ray examination indicating left pneumothorax and active pulmonary TB.

Abstract

Based on the facts on the ground, Indonesian students have low scientific literacy skills. This is shown by the 2018 PISA data which explains that the score of Indonesian students is 396 below the PISA average score of 500 and is ranked 70 out of 78 countries. Therefore, teachers must improve students’ scientific literacy skills so that students’ understanding of science can be trained so that they can keep up with the times. The purpose of this study was to improve the scientific literacy skills of class VII students through the development of ethnoscience-based student worksheets. The method used is a combined quantitative and qualitative method, through validation methods by two expert lecturers and analyzed descriptively quantitativel, with a 3D development model (define, design, and develop). The results showed that the validation of student worksheets was in the very valid category with a percentage of 85%. Based on these results, the worksheets of students based on ethnoscience are appropriate to be used as learning media to improve students’ scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

Company management follows earnings management to influence the earnings reported in the financial statements. This study aims to analyze whether there are earnings management activities in Islamic banking in Indonesia. The data taken for this study are the financial reports of Islamic Commercial Banks registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for 2017-2021. Earnings management is measured by the discretionary accrual method using the Modified Jones Model. This research shows that the discretionary accruals (DAC) for Islamic Commercial Banks in 2017-2021 have a minimum result of -1.3614 and a maximum result of 0.2917. This shows that there have been earnings management activities in Islamic Commercial Banks in the last 5 years. To reduce earnings management, the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) is asked to be truly qualified in carrying out its duties so that profit management of Islamic bank financial reports can be reduced, readers of financial reports are not deceived, and investors are not harmed.

Abstract

Network pharmacology is a new approach to medicine that aims to understand drug interactions with body tissues more specifically. This concept involves a deep understanding of the mechanisms of drug action, drug metabolism, and the influence of drugs on tissue function. In recent years, network pharmacology has become a significant trend in drug development. This approach allows researchers to design drugs that are more effective and have fewer side effects. By understanding in detail how drugs interact with specific tissues, specific and targeted drug development can be undertaken. Network pharmacology also opens the door to the development of more particular and existent therapies. By taking into account individual differences in response to drugs, this approach allows for more effective and safer treatment. This article presents a literature review of network pharmacology as a new approach and trend in medicine. This literature review also explores the latest research and current trends in the world of medicine using a network pharmacology approach. This article shows that tissue pharmacology has great potential in more effective and safer treatments. With a better understanding of drug - tissue interactions, we can develop more targeted therapies and reduce the risk of undesirable side effects.

Abstract

The Hydrologic Engineering System-River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) model is a model that can display water surface cross-sections in both 1D and 2D forms. That way, HEC-RAS can predict the amount of peak discharge that results in flooding. This study aims to see the distribution of flood areas in the Paremang Watershed as a basic form of mitigation activity for flood events. A flood disaster analysis was conducted using the HEC-RAS model. The HEC-RAS model data includes river water discharge data from the Soil and Water Assessment Tools (SWAT) analysis, which is an overlay of topography, land cover/use, soil characteristics and climate data from authorized agencies, and direct field observations. The results showed that the flood area was 2,722.38 ha, affected by high rainfall conditions, steep slopes accelerating water flow, and land cover dominated by rice fields, bushes and dry land agriculture. The condition increases surface flow, stimulating the amount of water discharged. This resulted in flooding in most of the downstream and middle areas of the Paremang Watershed in Luwu Regency. Therefore, mitigation in the form of land use planning is needed. The plan is led by the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning, which includes other sectors ranging from forestry, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, and public works. This could support in developing policies ranging from forest rehabilitation, social forestry, community forests, expansion of agroforestry patterns, ecotourism development, and flood mitigation such as technical buildings. Keywords: flood areas distribution, HEC-RAS model, Paremang, soil and water assessment tools, watershed

Abstract

This study examined the role of social interactions, the work environment, and work motivation in influencing job satisfaction among employees at the Sekretariat Daerah Pontianak. The findings revealed significant relationships and provided insights into the dynamics of these variables. The results indicated that social interactions had a direct and significant impact on job satisfaction. Positive interactions, such as effective communication and collaboration, enhanced job satisfaction levels. Similarly, the work environment was found to influence job satisfaction, with factors such as physical conditions, organizational culture, and leadership practices playing a significant role. Work motivation was identified as another crucial factor affecting job satisfaction. Employees who were motivated and engaged in their work reported higher levels of job satisfaction. However, the study found that work motivation did not fully mediate the relationships between social interactions, the work environment, and job satisfaction. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the Sekretariat Daerah Pontianak prioritize fostering positive social interactions, improving the work environment, and promoting work motivation as separate but interconnected factors in enhancing job satisfaction. The study provides valuable insights for organizational leaders and policymakers to understand the factors influencing job satisfaction. By addressing social interactions, the work environment, and work motivation, the organization can create a more satisfying work experience and ultimately improve employee well-being and performance.

Abstract

World Health Organization (WHO) menyebutkan jumlah perokok di dunia sebanyak 2,5 milyar orang.
