Abstract

This study aims to measure the contribution of self-compassion to the body image of students of SMKN 1 Karanganyar. The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach with an ex-post-facto design. The sample in this study amounted to 279 students from a total population of 926 students who were taken using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used is a self-compassion scale developed by researchers based on Neff's (2015) theory, which totals 29 items, and a body image scale developed based on Cash and Pruzinsky's (2002) theory, totaling 41 items. The validity test results for the self-compassion scale get a value range of 0.493-0.731, and the body image scale has a value range of 0.271-0.659. The reliability test results of the self-compassion scale obtained results of 0.918 and the body image scale of 0.947. Hypothesis testing using simple linear regression analysis with the results showed that self-compassion contributed 31.4% with the coefficient of determination (R2 = 0.314, ρ < 0.05). Based on these results, it can be seen that self-compassion significantly influences body image in SMK Negeri 1 Karanganyar students. Future researchers can research other variables that affect body image, such as gratitude, self-esteem, and social comparison.

Abstract

Important for vocational students to achieve psychological well-being amidst technological developments that increase self-critical behaviour. Information overload, increased self-com, and other psychological health issues can increase self-critical behaviour. This can hinder the achievement of the six dimensions of psychological well-being. So, it is necessary to know the correlation between these two variables in vocational students. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-criticism on psychological well-being in vocational students. A total of 1812 students were included, and participants completed assessments of self‐criticism and psychological well-being. The result is self-criticism and psychological well-being is in a medium category with scores M = 60.34; SD = 2.86 and M = 118.48; SD = 2.53 sequentially. Analyses assessed the extent to which the intercept and linear slope of self‐criticism were associated with assessments of psychological well‐being. Findings suggest that a decrease in self-criticism is associated with better psychological well-being in vocational students. There was a relationship between self-criticism and psychological well-being. The implication of this finding suggests applying intervention with a focus on reducing self-criticism to improve student’s psychological well-being.

Abstract

Learning is an activity that requires effective time management to achieve productivity and efficiency. However, many students exhibit behaviors that do not reflect optimal time management. A preliminary study was conducted by distributing a time management scale to Grade X students of SMAN 14 Semarang. The results indicated that 10.3% of students had very low time management, 44.8% low, 31% high, and 13.7% very high. This research examines the impact of group counseling services using self-management to improve students' time management. The study employed a quantitative approach with an experimental method. Data analysis included descriptive and inferential statistical analyses using the Wilcoxon test. Descriptive analysis results showed an increase in the average time management score of the experimental group from 89.8 in the pre-test to 120.6 in the post-test, while the control group showed no improvement, with scores decreasing from 88.2 to 85.8. The Wilcoxon test for the experimental group yielded a Z Score of 2.023 with a significance level of 0.043 (< 0.05), indicating a significant improvement in students' time management. Conversely, the Wilcoxon test for the control group yielded a Z Score of 0.368 with a significance level of 0.713 (> 0.05), indicating no improvement. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that group counseling with the self-management technique effectively improves students' time management. This approach emphasizes the importance of students' self-control in modifying their behavior, significantly enhancing their time management skills.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the teacher marketplace requires prospective counselors of Semarang State University (UNNES) to improve competence in the field of culture, one of which is cultural humility. The inconsistency between the results of the counselor candidate interview and the measurement of counselees who practice with UNNES counselor candidates is the urgency of this study to examine the influence of cultural knowledge on cultural humility. This influence can be strengthened or weakened by intrinsic encouragement through self-compassion. This study aims to determine the effect of cultural knowledge on cultural humility in terms of self-compassion in UNNES counselor candidates. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlation research design. The subjects of this study were 132 of the total population of 196 counseling students of the FIPP UNNES class of 2020 and 2021 who were selected using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The methods used are descriptive analysis, simple linear regression, and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). Based on the results of descriptive analysis, the cultural knowledge variable is in the medium category (M = 35.90 SD = 4.49), the cultural humility variable is in the high category (M = 53.04 SD = 4.80), and the self-compassion variable is in the medium category (M = 38.60 SD = 5.18). The results showed that cultural knowledge was proven to affect cultural humility by 34.7% and self-compassion had a moderating effect on the effect of cultural knowledge on cultural humility of UNNES counselor candidates by 51.6%. Referring to this, the researcher recommends further research to explore the demographic role of respondents and conduct causality or mixed method research that does not only use psychological scale measurement tools.

This community service addresses the challenges counselors face in the digital era, particularly in the use of cybercounseling. With the increasing reliance on technology, counselors must develop strong digital skills to provide effective counseling services. This study aims to enhance the counseling skills of the MGBK SMK community in Semarang through cybercounseling training. Employing Participatory Action Research (PAR), the study followed four stages: 1) problem identification, 2) solution development, 3) action implementation, and 4) critical reflection. Data were collected through both quantitative and qualitative methods, including pre- and post-training questionnaires and interviews to assess changes in counselors' skills. The results showed a significant improvement in counselors' understanding of cybercounseling after the training. Before the training, none of the counselors were categorized as "very knowledgeable," but 41% achieved this level after the training. Interviews confirmed these findings, showing notable improvements in counselors' ability to deliver cybercounseling services. This study demonstrates that technology-based training is effective in improving counselor competence and provides an adaptive, efficient approach to student counseling. It highlights the importance of continuous professional development to help counselors stay updated with technological advancements in counseling services.
