<![CDATA[This study aims to discuss the differences between Batu Bara Malay and Tanjung Pura Malay in terms of phonological aspects. There are many differences in the vocabulary used in the two Malay languages, both in pronunciation and writing. For this reason, it is necessary to describe the differences in the vocabulary of Batubara Malay and Tanjung Pura Malay. These words have the same meaning but are pronounced differently. This study uses an approach that focuses on the designation of the same meaning but different pronunciation. This study uses data in the form of basic Malay vocabularies based on sources from Batu Bara Malay and Tanjung Pura Malay communities which are translated into Indonesian. The instrument used in data collection in this study was a recording device used to interview several natives of Batu Bara and Tanjung Pura area who have a distinctive Malay accent. The method used in this research is listening and recording method and the research also use the technique of listen and write. This study uses a method that is presented informally. The results of this study are the differences between Batu Bara Malay and Tanjung Pura Malay phonologically.]]>

<![CDATA[The research deals with predicates and arguments in the theoretical framework of Transformational Generative Grammar in terms of Thematic Roles or Theta Roles proposed by Chomsky (1981), Haegeman (1994) and his followers Radford (1981) and Ouhalla (1999). Thematic Roles may be defined as the participants of the arguments of a clause. It means that Thematic roles refer to the relationship between verbs and their arguments. Thematic Roles is focused to eight types of theta role. They are agent, patient, theme, experiencer, beneficiary/ benefactive, goal, Source and location. The analysis of Thematic Roles is taken form tne tale of “Macbeth†by E.F, Dodd in six tales of Shakespear. The result shows that agent is the biggest thematic roles found in the tale of Macbeth and source is the lowest one. Keywords: Thematic Roles, Verbs, Arguments]]>

<![CDATA[This study dealt lecturers’ feedback on students’ reading at Politeknik LP3I Medan. This study aimed to find out lecturers’ feedback on students’ reading at Politeknik LP3I Medan. This study used the theory from Ellis (2009). Methodology of this study used qualitative research by Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2014), it was interactive method. The collecting data of this study was observation and recording students and lecturers’ utterances on learning process in reading class. The recording was transcribed to find out the data related to the study. The result of this study, there were direct feedback and indirect feedback. There were four process of feedback that implemented in learning process on reading class, they are explicit correction, metalinguistic comment, recast and repetition. Process of feedback was not related to the theory from Ellis (2009). There were six processes of feedback by Ellis (2009). They were explicit correction, metalinguistic comment, recast, repetition, elicitation and clarification request. In this study, researcher did not find two processes of feedback, they were elicitation and clarification request.]]>

<![CDATA[This research relates to the application of Google Classroom in learning English in the Accounting Study Program at Pembangunan Panca Budi University. The aim is to find out the effect of using Google Classroom in supporting English learning. Respondents consisted of active students from class 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 who had used Google Classroom in semesters 1 and 2. The data collection method used was a research questionnaire whose data was analyzed using the SPSS program. The results of this study show that there is no significant effect of the convenience of Google Classroom and student expectations on the use of Google Classroom in supporting English learning. Meanwhile, for the performance of Google Classroom and social influence on the use of Google Classroom, there is a significant influence.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to explore the role of accent in Batu Bara Malay communication. Batu Bara Malay is a dialect of Malay spoken in Batu Bara area of North Sumatra, Indonesia and has unique phonological characteristics. This research is also to identify the characteristics of the accent in Batu Bara Malay, understand its impact in daily communication, and investigate the role of accent in communication. This research uses a combination approach of case study and phonological analysis. The data were collected through interviews with native Batu Bara Malay speakers, observations of daily communication, and analysis of voice recordings. The research results show that Batu Bara Malay has distinctive accent characteristics, including phonological variations in the use of phonemes and intonation that are different from the standard Malay or Indonesian. In the context of daily communication, the use of accents in Batu Bara Malay affects understanding and expression. Differences in accents in informal conversation and formal communication were also identified. Social and cultural factors play a role in accent variation. This research contributes to further understanding of Batu Bara Malay and the importance of maintaining this dialect. The results can be used as a basis for efforts to preserve language and culture in Batu Bara Malay community.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to discuss the important role of parents in increasing children's English vocabulary because there are still many parents who lack a role in improving children's English skills, especially increasing English vocabulary to improve language skills. Language skills are an important aspect of children's language development and have a significant impact on children's communication abilities. This study explored various ways parents can play a role in expanding children's English vocabulary. This research method involved a review of literature investigating the role of parents in children's vocabulary development. The research method used was qualitative research. Nine parents in Kelambir V Kebun Village were selected purposely as the subject of the research. Interview and observation were used to collect the data. The research results showed that parents had a strong influence in enriching children's vocabulary through speaking models, providing visual stimulation, and providing access to various English learning resources. In addition, this research also underlined the importance of creating an environment that supports language learning, adopting a positive approach, and understanding the child's developmental level. This research implied that parents have a central role in helping children acquire strong English language competence. By actively involving themselves in the language learning process, parents could make a significant contribution to the growth of their children's English vocabulary, but there were still many parents who did not have much effort and methods to increase their children's English vocabulary so that children had insufficient vocabulary.]]>

<![CDATA[This research is about an analysis of the ability of Accounting students towards mastery of the English terminology of Accounting: a Case Study On Accounting Students on Semester IV of Faculty of Sosial Sains, University of Pembangunan Panca Budi. Many students feel difficult to understand and to master English for Accounting especially English terms in accounting hence this analysis is very important to do to see the lack of ability of the students in the mastery of the English terminology of Accounting as well as to improve the way to learn for students. The analysis is done using interview to students by answering questionnaire in Google Form. There are 119 respondents and they have different answers. This research used qualitative approach thus the result and discussion are in the form of description.]]>

<![CDATA[Speaking English is an essential skill for vocational high school students to succeed in the world of work. However, many students face challenges such as limited vocabulary, low self-confidence, and minimal practice opportunities. This study examines the effect of the role-play method on improving English-speaking skills among students at SMK SPP SNAKMA. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving 35 tenth-grade students. Results reveal significant improvements in students' speaking abilities. Specifically, 85% of participants demonstrated increased confidence, 70% expanded their active vocabulary, and over 60% achieved better pronunciation and contextual communication skills. These findings underscore the role of active, situational learning in fostering practical English communication. The study highlights role-play as a transformative method for equipping vocational students with industry-relevant speaking skills.]]>
