Abstract

Hydrologic Response Unit (HRU) is a unit formed of hydrological analysis based on geology and soil type, slope, and land cover. This paper discussed the spatial pattern of Hydrologic Response Unit (HRU) in 1997-2009 and its impact on flow Ci Rasea watershed temporally. In this study, SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model, based on land cover changed, was used to get HRU and flow in spatially and temporally. This method used Landsat TM 1997, 2003 and 2009 data for land cover and daily rainfall 1997-2009 for flow modeling. The results showed the spatial pattern of HRU in temporally was affected by landcover based on the changing of HRU. The majority of HRU spatial pattern at Ci Rasea watershed were clustered. During 1997-2009, accumulated surface runoff and the changing of flow discharge were affected by changes of HRU spatial pattern. The biggest accumulated surface runoff in Ci Rasea watershed influenced by HRU of agricultural cropland in area of clay soil type with slope slightly obliquely. While the smallest accumulated surface runoff in Ci Rasea watershed influenced by HRU of paddy field in the area of sandy loam soil type with a gentle slope. The changes of HRU agriculture cropland become HRU mixed cropland in area clay soil type with slope at a slight angle and HRU agriculture cropland become HRU paddy field in area, sandy loam soil type with a gentle slope could be decreasing the accumulation of surface runoff in Ci Rasea watershed.

Abstract

. This paper discusses spatial pattern of Hydrologic Response Unit (HRU), which is a unit formed of hydrological analysis, including geology and soil type, elevation and slope, and also land cover in 2009. This paper also discusses the impact of HRU on streamflow of Ci Rasea watershed, West Java. Ci Rasea watershed is located at the upstream part of Ci Tarum watersheds in West Java Province, Indonesia. This research used SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model to obtain spatial HRU and river flow. The method used Landsat TM data for land cover and daily rainfall for river flow modeling. The results have shown spatial pattern of HRU which was affected by land cover, soil type and slope. In 2009, accumulated surface runoff and streamflow changes were spatially affected by HRU changes. The large amount accumulation of river flow discharge happened in HRU with landcover paddy field, silty clay soil, and flat slope. While the low discharge of river flow happened in HRU with plantation, clay soil, and slightly steep slopes as HRU dominant. It was found that accumulation of surface runoff in Ci Rasea watershed can be reduced by changing the land cover type in some areas with clay and slightly steep slope to become plantation area and the areas with sandy loam soil and flat slope can be used for paddy fields. Beside affected by HRU, the river flow discharge was also affected by the distance of sub watershed to the outlet. By using NS model and statistical t-student for calibration and validation, it was obtained that the accuracy of river flow models with HRU was 70%. It meant that the model could better simulate water flows of the Ci Rasea watershed.

Abstract

The film 3: Alif Lam Mim portrays three close friends who strive to uphold truth within a society that rejects religion. The story begins with a terrorist attack at a nightclub that triggers conflict between groups, prompting the government to dissolve all religious organizations and adopt a liberal system. Alif, Herlam, and Mimbo, as devout Muslims, sense inconsistencies in their nation’s historical narrative. They search for the truth hidden by the government in its effort to establish a fully liberal state. Despite many obstacles, they succeed in uncovering the manipulative plan controlling the government and conveying it to the public. This study aims to analyze the denotative and connotative meanings in the film 3: Alif Lam Mim using Roland Barthes semiotic perspective, interpret these meanings in an integrated manner, and identify the religious messages delivered. The study uses a descriptive literature review method with data taken from the film, books, and scholarly articles. The findings show that the film serves as a social critique of chaos caused by reckless political decisions, which result in false freedom and discrimination against religious citizens. The film also conveys messages about emotional control, perseverance, patience, devotion, and justice.

Abstract

The development of social media has presented new opportunities for Islamic da'wah practices in the digital era, particularly in empowering women's associations as agents of strengthening religious values at the village level. This community service activity aims to optimize the use of social media as a means of digital da'wah through creative training in the creation and dissemination of relevant and contextual religious content. The activity was carried out using a participatory approach through training and mentoring for women from the Caring Wives Association in Mekarjaya Village, Indramayu Regency, with data collected through observation, interviews, and post-training skills evaluation. The results of the activity showed significant improvements in digital literacy, self-confidence, and the active role of participants in producing and disseminating communicative and educational da'wah messages. Social media not only functions as a means of disseminating religious messages but also serves as a space for interaction that strengthens social solidarity and community religious awareness. These findings confirm that digital da'wah based on ongoing training and mentoring is an effective and adaptive strategy in building an inclusive, participatory religious community that is relevant to the dynamics of society in the digital era.

Abstract

The exemplary conduct of the Prophets and Messengers, miracles, and the righteousness of the saints of Allah and their karamah are essential foundations in shaping the character of Muslims. Prophets and Messengers serve as the ultimate role models, demonstrating noble morals, gentleness, and wise leadership, as exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in various events, including the Battle of Uhud. The miracles granted to the Prophets and Messengers function as proof of their prophethood and reinforcement of their message, such as Prophet Noah’s ark that saved his people or Prophet David’s ability to soften iron. Meanwhile, the exemplary conduct of the saints of Allah and their karamah serve as inspiration in both spiritual and social life, strengthening values such as simplicity, sincerity, and compassion. These three aspects are interconnected in forming a solid conceptual framework for instilling exemplary values in daily life, reinforcing faith, and guiding Muslims toward a better life based on Islamic teachings. Abstract

This study aims to examine the orientation and expectations of communication research methods within the framework of social science. Communication is understood as a meaning-laden social process; therefore, the selection of research methods becomes a crucial factor in producing valid and relevant scientific findings. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research design, with data sources consisting of books and scholarly journal articles that discuss communication research methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative. The data were analyzed using a descriptive-qualitative technique through systematic classification and interpretation of methodological concepts. The findings indicate that communication research methods have distinct epistemological orientations, in which qualitative approaches emphasize the understanding of meaning and social context, while quantitative approaches focus on measurement and generalization of communication phenomena. The expectations of communication research methods encompass not only technical accuracy but also analytical depth, social relevance, and the ethical responsibility of the researcher. Thus, a comprehensive understanding of the orientation and expectations of communication research methods serves as an essential foundation for producing high-quality research that contributes to the development of communication studies.

Abstract

Research is a scientific activity conducted systematically and in a planned manner to acquire new knowledge and to address various problems in society. This study aims to analyze students' understanding of quantitative research methodology within higher education learning contexts. The research employs a library research approach by reviewing various relevant scientific literature, including journals, books, and academic articles. The findings indicate that students' understanding of quantitative research tends to be limited to technical aspects, such as numerical data processing and statistical analysis, while their comprehension of conceptual, methodological, and philosophical foundations remains insufficient. Furthermore, students demonstrate a low level of understanding regarding the tradition of quantitative research, particularly its grounding in the positivism paradigm. Misconceptions are also found in fundamental concepts such as variables, hypotheses, and research design. Overall, students’ understanding is categorized as moderate and requires further improvement. These findings suggest the need for more comprehensive and integrative learning strategies in teaching research methodology, emphasizing not only procedural skills but also conceptual and philosophical understanding.
