Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of nurses' caring in carrying out critical nursing care for Covid-19 patients installed with Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) in the ICU using the Care, Core, Cure Lydia Hall nursing theory. This type of research is qualitative research with a case study approach. The results showed that nursing problems that occurred in patients after ECMO installation included airway disorders, gas exchange disorders, bleeding risks, and the risk of impaired skin integrity due to decreased tissue perfusion. In conclusion, Lydia Hall's nursing theory is dominated by the Cure aspect because the installation of ECMO is a very complex medical procedure and involves teams from various disciplines. Hence, the implementation of the Cure aspect is a collaborative act of nurses. Care and Core aspects also have an essential role in caring for nurses, namely by conducting therapeutic interactions and facilitating patients to get family support so that patients have the spirit to recover and do not experience stress that can affect hemodynamic conditions. Abstract

Abstract

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. Catheterization using the transradial arterial (TRA) technique has been able to reduce morbidity and mortality rates from CAD, but this procedure also contributes to the occurrence of complications. This study aims to search the literature and analyse articles discussing the use of hand exercise to improve limb function in patients after trans-radial cardiac catheterization.  The design used was a systematic review with PRISMA adaptation. Articles were searched using databases: ScienceDirect, Proquest, PubMed, Scopus and Hand Searching in Google Scholar. The results are discussing 7 articles published from 2013-2023. Hand exercises are useful for restoring limb function within two hours after the procedure and over a long period. To deliver nursing interventions that reduce pain, oedema, and bleeding in CHD patients undergoing trans-radial cardiac catheterization, it is established that hand exercise can develop into an evidence-based reference. Long-term hand exercise training can also enhance endothelial function, which controls blood vessel vasoconstriction and dilatation. This enhances circulation during activity, improves grip function, and enhances extremities function.

Abstract

HIV AIDS cases continue to increase every year. In 2023, out of 1,414 HIV AIDS cases in North Kalimantan, Indonesia, 500 cases were in Tarakan region. This study aimed to reveal the situation of the extent of efforts of commercial sex workers (CSWs) in preventing HIV AIDS transmission in coastal and border areas of Tarakan. This research was qualitative with a descriptive phenomenological approach. This study involved 15 CSWs in the localization of Tarakan area as the participants. The data analysis used thematic analysis by Braun and Clarke. This study produced four themes, namely: (1) health checks were carried out on an irregular basis, (2) customers who refused to use condoms were still served, (3) the use of antibiotics to prevent HIV AIDS transmission, and (4) limiting customers. The prevention of HIV AIDS transmission by CSWs had not been maximized due to the limitations of economic background and negotiation skills and a lack of understanding of HIV AIDS. A more comprehensive educational approach was needed to raise awareness of the importance of self-prevention from infectious diseases to work, so that they can work for a long time.
