Abstract

nappropriate material processing and supplying activities in a coffee agro-industry supply chain potentially lead to excessive waste, resulting in very low efficiency. Efficiency in the coffee agro-industry supply chain has to be considered, since the coffee agro-industry provides relatively high contribution to GDP, approximately 13.7%. Wasteful activities may significantly affect the GDP earned if not being eliminated. This study was aimed to identify waste produced along the coffee agro-industry supply chain and provide recommendations for improving supply chain efficiency, from the harvesting to the ground coffee processing. Actors of the coffee agro-industry supply chain consist of various parties, i.e. farmers, collectors, processors, and consumers. The supply chain is comprised of internal, external, and overall activities in which material and information flows are integrated within business units that traverse simultaneously between direct suppliers and consumers. In order to achieve optimum results, efficiency improvement by eliminating all sources of waste must be carried out at each stage. The method used to obtain this efficiency was Lean manufacturing, initiated with identifying waste using Process Activity Mapping (PAM), followed by identification with Current Value Stream Mapping (VSM). The efficiency value of the current condition was 93,9%. This shows the condition is good and there is no waste in time. There are other waste that needs to be analyzed, namely motion analysis and process. Keywords - Coffee, Efficiency, Supply Chain, Process Activity Mapping, Value Stream Mapping.

Abstract

Indonesia is the world's third largest cocoa producer, leading to the high potential for cocoa processing and conversion to downstream industries. However, the downstream production of cocoa processing only reaches low utilization, around 40%. This problem also happens to UKM Ibunmanis in Bandung, which often fails to meet consumer demand. We have done a study to overcome this problem, aiming to make suggestions to improve production process technology,  to increase production capacity and ability to meet consumer demand. Here, we used Soft System Methodology (SSM) to provide solutions to the problems. The SSM consists of seven stages: Problem identification, Rich Picture Diagram, Root Cause Analysis coupled with CATWOE analysis, conceptual model activities (9 model activities), debating, improvement suggestions, and implementation. The results indicate that the transformation process carried out is in the form of processing chocolate bars into downstream products, with the limitation being conventional technology, which has model activities for designing appropriate technology for critical processing processes in UKM. Implementing the appropriate technology can speed up the production process from 30 minutes to 7 minutes or increase process efficiency by 77%. In addition, suggestions resulting from the method for the melting process can gain more profits and increase the sustainability of the SMEs

Abstract

Sunflowers are commodities with the potential to be developed into derivative products such as cooking oil, herbal oil, animal feed, and even biodiesel. However, stakeholders in the sunflower agro-industry, from farmers to producers of derivative products, still face several challenges in creating the best practices for sunflower agro-industry. These challenges include the underutilization of technology and the application of supply chain management. Therefore, this research focuses on designing a prototype decision support system for value added products in the sunflower agro-industry supply chain network. The purpose of this research is to support stakeholders in making informed decisions regarding the production of sunflower derivative products, including cooking oil, herbal oil, and animal feed. The development of this decision support system design utilizes the system development life cycle (SDLC) method with a waterfall model. The prototype design results employ the Just in Mind application for creating a graphical user interface and will be implemented on smartphones using the Android system. This research is limited to supporting decision-making in the value-added model of the sunflower agro-industry supply chain. The implementation of the system is considered a subsequent stage in future research. Additionally, the addition of other models is expected to be developed in future studies.

Abstract

Organization X reported that 75% of its application development projects from 2020 to 2023 were overscheduled, with the ABC application project being the most delayed. Field observations attributed these failures to inadequate planning and the absence of structured feasibility evaluations. This study addresses the gap by designing a dynamic feasibility model for the ABC project using a System Dynamics (SD) approach grounded in the TELOS criteria—Technical, Economic, Legal, Operational, and Scheduling. Unlike traditional static methods, the SD model captures feedback loops and interdependencies between project variables, enabling dynamic scenario simulations. Applied research methods were used to develop causal loop and stock flow diagrams, which were verified and validated via the Vensim tool. Baseline simulations yielded an average feasibility score of 7.26, exceeding the viability threshold. Among four tested scenarios, a combined intervention—adding 30%-time reserve, increasing team size, and enhancing quality control—produced the highest score of 7.35. Singular adjustments to time, cost, or quality were less effective than the integrated approach. This study demonstrates the novelty and effectiveness of applying SD to TELOS-based feasibility analysis, offering a predictive and adaptive tool for strategic project planning. The model enables proactive identification of critical phases and supports more informed decision-making, improving alignment with organizational objectives and overall project success. Keywords: Project Feasibility, TELOS, Dynamic Systems, Decision Making, Project Management

Abstract

CV XYZ is a company engaged in the distribution of soybean commodities, located in Tangerang Regency. The company distributes its products to five retail outlets across the Jabodetabek area using two operational vehicles. Currently, CV XYZ faced issues with distribution scheduling due to the lack of a fixed policy, leading to occasional increases in delivery frequencies caused by insufficient stock and an inefficient existing scheduling system. As a result, the fulfillment rate of retail demands only reached 93% of the company’s target of 99%, creating a 6% gap that the company aims to address. To resolve this issue, a new distribution scheduling plan was developed using the Distribution Requirement Planning (DRP) method. Distribution Requirement Planning (DRP) method consists of four stages: first Netting for the process of calculating the amount of net requirements, second Lotting for the process of calculating the ideal order quantity, third Offsetting to determine the order plan, and finally the fourth explosion for the process of calculating gross requirements in distribution. The results of the new plan show an increase in the fulfillment rate of retail demands to 99.8%. Additionally, total distribution costs were successfully minimized, decreasing from Rp 593,980,120 to Rp 551,934,498, resulting in a saving of Rp 42,045,622 or approximately 7% of the previous total distribution costs.
