Abstract

The main problem in this study is the low social studies learning outcomes which are thought to be influenced by the lack of learning discipline and a less supportive learning environment. This study aims to determine the effect of learning discipline and learning environment on the learning outcomes of Social Studies (IPS) of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Dimembe. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The sample in this study amounted to 54 students selected through purposive sampling techniques. The instruments used were questionnaires to measure the level of learning discipline and learning environment, as well as documentation values to determine students' social studies learning outcomes. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression. The results of the study showed that learning discipline had a positive and significant effect on students' social studies learning outcomes. Likewise, the learning environment had a positive and significant effect on social studies learning outcomes. Simultaneously, learning discipline and learning environment had a significant effect on social studies learning outcomes with a fairly strong contribution. These findings indicate that improving student learning outcomes does not only depend on academic ability, but also on non-cognitive factors such as learning habits and a supportive environment. Therefore, efforts to improve social studies learning outcomes need to include strengthening student discipline and improving the learning environment, both at school and at home.

Abstract

Academic achievement is widely recognized as one of the most crucial indicators of educational success, reflecting the extent to which students are able to attain learning objectives. It is strongly influenced by both internal and external factors that shape students’ attitudes, behaviors, and performance in the learning process. Among these factors, learning discipline and learning motivation play a particularly important role in determining students’ achievement outcomes. This study aims to examine the influence of learning discipline and learning motivation on the academic achievement of vocational high school students. The research employed a quantitative approach with a survey method. The population of the study consisted of tenth-grade students in the Office Management and Business Services program at SMKS Kristen 2 Tomohon. A total of 30 students were selected as research participants. Data were collected using structured questionnaires that measured students’ learning discipline and learning motivation, while their academic achievement was assessed through official school records. The collected data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 27 to determine the simultaneous and partial effects of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The findings reveal that both learning discipline and learning motivation have a significant and positive effect on academic achievement. The coefficient of determination (R Square) was found to be 0.949, indicating that 94.9% of the variation in academic achievement can be explained by learning discipline and learning motivation. The remaining 5.1% is attributed to other factors not included in this study, such as family background, peer influence, teaching quality, and learning environment. These results emphasize the importance of fostering consistent learning discipline and strengthening intrinsic as well as extrinsic motivation in order to improve students’ academic performance. In conclusion, the study highlights that educational institutions, teachers, and parents must work collaboratively to encourage disciplined learning habits and sustain students’ motivation, as both are proven to be strategic factors in enhancing academic achievement at the vocational school level.

This research is a quantitative descriptive study using incidental sampling techniques. The data was collected by using a questionnaire, conducting interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics (product moment correlation test) using the SPSS 18 application. The results of the descriptive analysis show that the application of the principles of good governance and the quality of public services at the Makassar City Land Office belongs to the good category in terms of indicator measuring the variable. The result of the product moment correlation analysis shows that the effect of the application of the principles of good governance governance on the quality of public services is 0.790, which is positive, which means that the level of influence is in the strong category.

Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of implementing an Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-based Semester Learning Plan (RPS) compared to a conventional RPS on student learning process indicators, competencies, and learning outcomes in the Learning Strategies course. Utilizing a quantitative quasi-experimental pre-test–post-test control group design, the study involved a total of N=60 undergraduate students in the Department of Economics Education, divided equally into an experimental group (n=30) and a control group (n=30) taught by the same lecturer over a 16-week intervention. Data were collected using validated cognitive achievement tests (0–100 scale), multi-item 5-point Likert questionnaires, and structured observation rubrics. Scores for participation, competency development, and authentic assessment were quantified as standardized percentages representing the ratio of achieved raw scores to maximum possible scores. To control for baseline differences, Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was performed. The results revealed that the experimental group achieved significantly higher adjusted post-test learning outcomes compared to the control group (F(1,57)=128.45,p<0.001,η_p^2=0.691). Furthermore, independent samples t-tests indicated statistically significant superiority in the experimental group across student participation (X ̅=95.83% vs. 67.24%, t(58)=-23.15,p<0.001,d=5.98), competency development (X ̅=93.20% vs. 71.90%, t(58)=-15.82,p<0.001,d=4.09), and authentic assessment (X ̅=88.90% vs. 61.15%, t(58)=-17.31,p<0.001,d=4.47). While the findings indicate that structured OBE-based instructional planning is associated with improved student engagement and skill mastery within the evaluated course, generalizability is limited by the sample size and quasi-experimental design.
