Abstract

Understanding Nahwu in Islamic boarding schools is very important because it serves as the foundation for comprehending Arabic texts. However, many students still find it difficult to understand Nahwu material delivered by their teachers. This difficulty is caused by several factors, including differences in students’ educational backgrounds—some come from elementary schools (SD) and Islamic elementary schools (MI). In addition, their learning environment also influences their comprehension, and the textbooks used in learning are often too advanced for the MTs level. Therefore, it is necessary to develop teaching materials that are easy to understand and appropriate to the students’ abilities. This study aims to: (1) describe the development of the Nahwu Question and Answer teaching material in improving the Nahwu understanding of grade VIII students at MTs Mu’allimin NWDI Pancor, (2) identify students’ responses toward the teaching material, and (3) determine the effectiveness of the material. The research employed the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), while data collection techniques included questionnaires, tests, interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of this study are as follows: (1) The validation level of the Nahwu Question and Answer teaching material was categorized as “very valid” based on the validators’ assessments. The media expert gave a score of 100% (very valid), while the material expert gave 82% (also very valid). Based on these evaluations, the product was declared feasible to be used and tested in the learning process. (2) A total of 30 students were given questionnaires to assess the use of the Nahwu Question and Answer book. The results showed that 94.67% of respondents rated it as “excellent,” indicating that the use of this teaching material is highly feasible. (3) Learning outcomes also improved, with the average pre-test score increasing from 78.43% to 95.86% in the post-test, and a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000. Since the significance value is smaller than the established significance level(α = 0.05), it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results. This proves that the use of the Nahwu Question and Answer teaching material in the learning process is highly effective in improving students understanding of Nahwu.

Abstract

This study examined student and instructor opinions of the unique roles that Arabic and English play in influencing cultural and religious identities within Indonesian pesantren, institutions that endeavor to reconcile traditional Islamic education with global expectations. This study used a qualitative research paradigm to perform a comprehensive analysis of the relationship between language acquisition and identity development within the pesantren setting. This study utilises a case study methodology to perform a thorough uation of how pesantren institutions incorporate Arabic and English training to foster cultural and religious identity. The study utilized questionnaires distributed to 111 students and 8 teachers to determine the impact of various languages on identity formation. Research consistently indicates that Arabic is regarded as essential for religious identity and cultural preservation; pupils strongly associate it with faith and legacy, a perspective unanimously supported by educators. In contrast, English exhibited a complex representation. Although acknowledged for its worldwide prospects and influence on personal identity, many students encountered difficulties in preserving their religious and cultural identity while acquiring English language skills. Educators also recognized this dual function of English. Notwithstanding these conflicts, a significant majority of students contended that bilingualism in both languages eventually enriches their entire identity. This study emphasizes the necessity for a balanced, culturally sensitive teaching that recognizes Arabic's fundamental significance while deliberately incorporating English to cultivate strong, multidimensional identities that are grounded in heritage and engaged worldwide.

Abstract

Language is a sound system used by ethnic groups in expressing their desires with the applicable rules. The use of Sasak loanwords from Arabic through written and spoken language causes a change in writing in the Sasak language loanwords from Arabic. This causes a change in the form of the Arabic loanword into the Sasak language, because these two languages are two different languages. These changes can occur in phonological and morphological patterns. The two languages in the realm of morphology have different sequences and syllables in the occurrence of word formation, so there is a change in word class from the previous word class in syllables. Likewise at the phonological level, namely in the field of phonemes, both languages have their own rules. The entry of Islam in the Sasak lands became a determining factor for the Arabic language until it was heard by the Sasak people. The fact that the Qur'an as the foundation and source of Islamic law has made Arabic known as the Islamic language, until the implementation of worship, both obligatory and sunnah prayers using Arabic. With the close relationship between Islam and Arabic, where Islam spreads, Arabic is also starting to be known and used by the local community.

Abstract

Designing creative and interesting nahwu material based on Instagram content can add methods or strategies to the learning process so that students feel not bored following the learning process. With an interesting learning method, students more easily understand the material delivered by educators. The Research and Development (R&D) method with a 4D model is used. The 4D model consists of 4 stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The results showed that at the define stage, students really need varied nahwu learning, such as in the form of content on social media that looks more interesting. At the design stage, researchers begin to design nahwu material so that students can use it as a learning reference. The next research will carry out the next two stages, namely development and disseminate.
