ANC services can identify the services provided to pregnant women, including tracing the mother's medical history, checking blood pressure, examining anemia, fetal movements, providing iron and folic acid supplementation and overall health education. Several other studies also show a link between ANC services and the incidence of LBWPurpose:  This research aims to determine the relationship between ANC services and the incidence of LBW in Belitung Regency in 2022.Methods:  Cross-sectional design with research locations in 9 (nine) Community Health Centers in the working area of the Belitung Regency Health Service in the period 1 January-31 December 2022 which were recorded in the maternal cohort. The analysis used the Chi Square Test to see the relationship between ANC services and the incidence of LBW. The degree of a relationship is obtained by measuring the association in the form of the odds ratio (OR).Results: It was found that low birth weight (LBW) was 33 (10.6%). Mothers whose number of ANC visits did not meet the standard (OR=6.12 95% CI 2.44 – 15.31; P value <0.001); the number of ANC service qualities not up to standard (OR=5.32 95% CI 1.47 – 19.27; P value 0.021); composite ANC services that do not meet standards (OR=5.59 95% CI 2.34 – 13.35; P value <0.001) have a risk of giving birth to LBW babies compared to mothers who have ANC services that meet standards. Conclusion: The success of ANC services in this study supports reducing the incidence of LBW. The number of visits, the quality of ANC services, and the composite of ANC services are good factors for reducing the incidence of LBW. It is recommended that an increase in health workers providing ANC services should strive to increase the completeness of ANC coverage and services to all pregnant women.Suggestions; Antenatal care services can improve again. Keywords:    LBW, Belitung Regency, Antenatal Care Services

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the 8 Stunting Reduction Acceleration Actions program in Tangerang Regency, Banten Province in 2022. This program is a national initiative that aims to reduce the prevalence of stunting through a convergence approach, cross-sector integration, and community participation. This study uses a qualitative method with a Public Health Nutrition (PHN) cycle approach which includes stages of intelligence, action, and evaluation. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with informants from Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) and review of related policy documents. The results show that the implementation of the 8 actions has been quite effective, but there are still challenges in cross-sector coordination and continuous monitoring. Action 1 (Situation Analysis) and Action 7 (Measurement and Publication of Stunting Data) are crucial stages in determining priority villages and measuring program achievements. However, action 8 (Annual Performance Review) has not been fully implemented consistently. The study provides recommendations to strengthen coordination between OPDs, increase human resource capacity, and ensure the sustainability of interventions through integrated and sustainable planning. This research is expected to contribute to the development of public health policies at the local level and accelerate the achievement of stunting reduction targets nationally.

Abstract

The prevalence of stunting is still one of the biggest nutritional problems in the world. Around 150.8 million children under five years old were stunted in 2017, or 22.2% of the population. In 2017, more than half (55%) of children under the age of five who had stunting were from Asia, and more than a third were from Africa (39%). North Asia has the biggest percentage (58.7%) of Asia's 83.6 million children under the age of five. From 2005 to 2017, there was a 36.4% annual increase in the prevalence of stunting in toddlers in Indonesia. One of the factors that cause stunting and low birth weight babies (LBW) is pregnant women who experience anemia. Anemia is a condition of decreasing blood hemoglobin concentration due to micronutrient deficiencies, especially iron, which often occurs in the world affecting more than half of the global population. The most susceptible demographics to anemia are children and women at childbearing age. This research uses the study literature review method. The study was conducted using the results of research from 2016 – 2022 regarding the correlation of anemia in pregnant women and stunting. It is known that macronutrients and micronutrients are correlated with the occurrence of stunting and anemia. It is certainly necessary to make efforts to improve health in both pregnant women and children to prevent the occurance of anemia.

Abstract

Background: Eating animal protein (AP) can prevent stunting in children under five, which currently is still 21.5%. Due to scarce resources, households had trouble distributing the cost and frequently had to choose between it and other food expenses. Objectives: This study aimed to examine the relationship between various food expenditures and expenditure on AP among Indonesian households. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study using secondary data. Data on household food expenditures on AP, prepared food and beverage, cereals, instant noodles, fruits, cooking oil, cigarette, and sugar, total expenditure, household size, and age and education of household head from 97,467 household samples with children under five were obtained from the National Socioeconomic Survey (Susenas) March 2018. Susenas data were collected through interviews using a structured questionnaire. Using IBM SPSS Version 22, a multiple linear regression was carried out, adjusted for household socioeconomic factors. Results: The average per-capita household expenditure on AP was IDR 24,912, contributing 4.72% to total food expenditure. This expenditure was higher than that on cereals (3.77%) but lower than that on prepared foods and beverages (6.15%). There was a positive association (p<0.001) between fruits, instant noodles, cooking oil, sugar, and beans and nuts expenditure and AP expenditure. Contrarily, there was an inverse relationship between prepared food and beverage (p<0.001), cereals (p=0.004), and cigarette expenditure (p<0.001) and animal protein expenditure. Conclusions: The amount spent on animal proteins was positively correlated with other food. It is possible that the consumption of animal proteins would increase if household funds were diverted from cigarettes and prepared food and beverage.
