Abstract

This research aims to strengthen religious moderation through information-based education, which is conducted through collaboration between North Sumatra State Islamic University (UINSU) and Jabal Noor Integrated Islamic High School. This research was motivated by the low understanding of Jabal Noor Integrated Islamic High School students about the concept of religious moderation, which was previously only recorded at 40%. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation from principals, teachers, and students. The community service program in the form of counseling succeeded in increasing students' understanding of religious moderation, which after the implementation of the activity increased to 85%. The results showed that this collaboration succeeded in strengthening students' understanding of religious moderation and contributed to the formation of social harmony at school. Information-based education through counseling provides a better understanding of the importance of moderation in daily life, as well as how moderation values can be applied to support peaceful social life in the school environment. The implication of this research is the importance of strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions and schools in developing educational programs that promote religious moderation as a basic value in student character building, as well as encouraging a more inclusive atmosphere of social harmony in the community.

Abstract

This article examines how Islamic Cyber Culture can reduce feelings of inferiority and the spread of cancel culture in virtual spaces. In Indonesia, cancel culture has increasingly affected individuals through online rejection and public petitions, while legally remaining largely unregulated. Psychologically, this phenomenon is often rooted in inferiority feelings that encourage destructive digital behavior. Using a qualitative case study approach, the study analyzes relevant cases and literature through content analysis. The findings identify four Qur’anic components of Islamic Cyber Culture: justice and equality, ethical speech and interaction, the importance of knowledge and reflection, and avoiding slander and backbiting (fitnah and ghibah). The study also highlights five urgent challenges in Indonesia: social pressure and unrealistic expectations, rapid judgment and cancellation, self-censorship, polarization and weak dialogue, and technology-driven character assassination. These challenges can be minimized by reinforcing Islamic Cyber Culture through positive narratives, digital ethics awareness, and public education, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and wise online environment.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the Roots Program in preventing bullying through the lens of the Two-Step Flow Communication Theory, emphasizing the role of student opinion leaders in influencing peer behavior and fostering a safer school environment. A qualitative research approach with an analytical descriptive method was used. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with three key informants: the school principal, a teacher facilitator, and a student anti-bullying agent. The findings indicate that the Roots Program has contributed to a noticeable reduction in bullying incidents by leveraging peer influence. Student opinion leaders played a crucial role in shaping anti-bullying norms through peer discussions, advocacy, and social modeling. The research highlights that students are more receptive to anti-bullying messages delivered by peers rather than institutional authorities, aligning with the Two-Step Flow Communication Theory. However, challenges such as ensuring active student participation and overcoming reluctance to report bullying remain significant obstacles. The study also found that institutional support, including teacher facilitation and collaboration with external organizations, enhances the effectiveness of peer-led interventions.
