Abstract

The use of ethanol as a mixture of premium is for reducing dependency to the primuim, considering that premium is not renewable. The goal of the ethanol addition in a fuel is to increase the octane number. However the heating value of the ethanol is lower than premium, so it will decrease the performance of the SI engine. The study aimed for increasing the performance of SI engine using E25 as mixture of premium-ethanol. The performance of engine was measured by engine test bed on chassis. Change load method is used in the experiment. The experiments result is advancing the time of ignition at 4 degree that can improve the engine performance. The result of changes load use E25 fuel with advanced time of ignition at 4 degree can increase engine performance as torque, power, bmep, efficiency thermal and bsfc were decrease

Abstract

Development of composite materials is growing rapidly to support medical needs. Biocomposite was made from bovine bone powder/shellac/chitosan for bone filler applications. Biocomposite of BHA(Bovine Hydroxyapatite)/shellac/chitosan was derived of bovine bone powder coated with shellac 10 ml. Mixed variation between BHA/shellac and chitosan i.e 30:40, 40:60, 50:50, 60:40, 70:30 %wt  were synthesized by dry method. Samples of BHA/shellac/chitosan were compacted with the pressure 60 bar until becomes solid with the cylinder mold 13 mm and 8 mm in thickness, the calcination process on temperature of  900ºC for 2 hours and increased temperature is 10ºC/min. Test XRD (X-Ray Diffraction), Microvickers, DTS (Diametric Tensile Strength) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microschopy), Density, and Porosity. XRD test results showed that bovine powder has become BHA (Bovine Hydroxyapatite), microvickers test of sample BHA/shellac/chitosan for maximum was 7.47 ± 0.685 VHN and 0.182 ± 3.73 VHN for minimum, DTS test of sample BHA/shellac/chitosan maximum at 36.66 ± 9.01 KPa and minimum at 13.90 ± 1.24 KPa. Porous observations with SEM toward sample BHA/shellac/chitosan porous size and number of samples contained at BHA/shellac/chitosan is 70:30 wt%. Density test with  highest value was 1,168gr/cm3, and lowest 1,070 gr/cm3. Highest porosity value at variation 50/50 %wt = 0,988%, and the lowest at 70/30 %wt = 0,977%

Abstract

Angka kejadian patah tulang di Indonesia cukup tinggi sehingga perlu biomaterial di bidang kesehatan yang ekonomis dan ramah lingkungan. Tulang sapi adalah salah satu jenis biomaterial yang dapat digunakan untuk mencangkok, memperbaiki, mengisi dan mengganti jaringan tulang. Tujuan  penelitian ini adalah melakukan karakterisasi material biokomposit hidroksiapatit dari tulang sapi (bovine hydroxyapatite = BHA) dengan ampas kopi dan shellac. Ampas kopi dipilih sebagai material pembentuk porositas. Ampas kopi akan menguap dan membentuk lubang porus ketika dipanaskan hingga suhu 900oC. Shellac digunakan sebagai pengikat antar partikel BHA. Dilakukan proses  kalsinasi dan sintering untuk mendapatkan biokomposit ini. Berdasarkan pengamatan SEM-EDX menunjukkan adanya unsur anorganik Ca dan P dengan intensitas tinggi sedangkan unsur Na, Mg, O dan C dengan intensitas rendah. Pengamatan pola difraksi XRD menunjukkan nilai 2θ sesuai dengan pola difraksi standar HA JCPDS 9-432. Analisis gugus fungsi FTIR tidak menunjukkan titik puncak utama selain gugus fungsi fosfat PO43-, karbonat CO32- dan hidroksil (OH-). Dapat dinyatakan bahwa kandungan kopi dan shellac telah menghilang sepenuhnya ketika proses sintering dan hanya menyisakan kandungan BHA. Semakin banyak campuran ampas kopi yang digunakan akan menurunkan nilai densitas dan meningkatkan jumlah porus serta mempercepat laju biodegradasi material.
