Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify how is the role of images implementation in teaching English conversation. Rapid technological developments increasingly highlight the use of multimodality theory. Multimodal in this case has a metafunction. Multimodal is now used as a new learning resource that can be used in the learning process. This multimodal aims as an evolving approach to knowledge in visual or image sources. This study used a qualitative descriptive method. In this study, an analysis of multimodal literature is carried out, namely through pictures of English conversations, these images are then used in learning about conversations in English. Three steps of representational metafunction, an interpersonal metafunction, and a compositional metafunction were used to analyze the multimodality of images used as learning media in learning English. The results obtained are that there is an increase in students' understanding when using images as learning media in conversational material in English. Based on the analysis of three multimodal components, namely the representational, interpersonal, and compositional, it is possible to conclude that the image of the English conversation employed leads to adaptation to the qualities of the kid as a learner. Children enjoy animated characters, and the use of color and animation in drawings is designed to pique pupils' interest in participating in learning by displaying images of discussions and encouraging them to practice them.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the students’ achievement by using HOTS as learning strategy in reading comprehension at grade VIII of SMP Yayasan Perguruan Keluaraga Pematangsiantar. The aspect of students’ achievement overwhelming, remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. These aspects were seen in Descriptive text. The research subject belongs to students in class VIIIA and VIIIB. The data are collected using qualitative method, namely the type of basic interpretative studies in which the data obtained used questionnaires to the student in the form of a Google form. In collecting data questionnaires were shared to 65 respondents. It was used to describe the topic related to the phenomenon happen in reading comprehension through HOTS. The research findings highlight C1-C6 phase which almost of students gave positive response to each statement of criteria HOTS. The achievement in six aspects of reading comprehension used HOTS, they are remembering text with strongly agree scale 58,4%, understanding supporting sentence with strongly agree 50,2%, applying decoding process with agree scale 49,2%, analyzing main ideas with strongly agree 50,2%, evaluating inference with agree scale 51,7%, and creating new ideas with agree scale 53,3%.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This activity is a community service activity in the form of socializing the importance of digital literacy in today's era. The purpose of implementing this webinar activity is to add insight in the application of digital literacy for educators and students in the digital era. This community service was conducted by presentation by zoom online with question and answers sessions for participants. This activity was held on September 10, 2021 online using the Zoom Meeting Application. This activity is a series of activities organized by KOMINFO and this activity was carried out in Pematangsiantar city via online which was attended by approximately 150 participants from various professions such as students, teachers, students, and parents. Through the implementation of this activity, the researchers hope that participants can be helped, especially in terms of education in the digital era. Participants gained an understanding of the critical nature of digital literacy in the modern era, as information technology and digital media can have both positive and negative consequences. Assumptions are considered in order to provide socialization and guidance to teachers in order to help them improve and develop their digital literacy skills, ensuring that the transformation of educational development proceeds smoothly and in accordance with the times' dynamics.  Keywords: Socialization, Digital Literacy, Digital Culture, Educators, Students

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the students' perceptions in using YouTube as online English learning media during the Covid-19 pandemic. at grade XI of SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar. The aspects of students’ perception cover attractiveness, effectiveness, relevancy, and motivation. These aspects are seen in students’ learning experiences in classes. The research subjects include students in class XI PMIA 6 and XI PMIA 7 at  SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar. The data are collected using qualitative research methods, namely the type of basic interpretive studies where the data are obtained using a questionnaire distributed to students in the form of a Google Form. The result of data analysis shows that most students gave a positive response to each statement in each aspect of the questionnaire given. Based on the research results obtained, this study can be concluded that the use of YouTube as an online English learning medium is attractive, effective, and relevant to the course content. It also motivates students in English online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic grade XI of SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar.

Abstract

Untuk dapat melihat tingkat keberhasilan model pembelajaran TGT berbantu media gambar tersebut, dapat dilihat dari hasil belajar siswa pada proses pembelajaran. berdasarkan pada hasil observasi, proses pembelajaran di kelas VI UPTD SD Negeri 122368 Pematangsiantar masih belum sesuai harapan. Kebanyakan hasil belajar peserta didik masih dibawah Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM). Permasalahan-permasalahan yang muncul yaitu kurangnya penggunaan model-model pembelajaran yang variatif dan penggunaan media pada proses pembelajaran di kelas. Sehingga menyebabkan kurangnya rasa kerjasama dan tanggung jawab siswa, terutama pada saat proses pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu dilakukan Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian eksperimen jenis Pre-Exsperimental designs (nondesigns). Dengan desain rancangan penelitian One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design dikarenakan hanya menggunakan satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen dan tanpa adanya kelas kontrol. Penelitian dilaksanakan di sekolah UPTD SD Negeri 122368 Pematangsiantar pada tanggal 03 Oktober 2022. Setelah dilakukan penelitian dilakukan dapat dilihat hasil penelitian digunakan uji Hipotesis dihitung dibantu dengan menggunakan SPSS versi 21, dapat kita lihat t¬hitung 14,977¬ > t¬tabel 1,696 disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh dengan menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Teams Games Tournament (Tgt) Berbantu Media Gambar Terhadap Hasil Belajar Siswa Pada Subtema 2 penemu dan Manfaatnya di kelas VI.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran problem based learning terhadap hasil belajar subtema 2 pemanfaatan kekayaan alam di indonesia siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 173757 sidihoni T.A 2022/2023. Jenis peneltian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Penelitian Kuantitatif, yang menyatakan bahwa penelitaian kuantitatif merupakan penelitian yang berupa angka-angka serta analisisnya menggunakan statistik. Desain penelitian yang akan digunakan yaitu eksperimen, dengan bentuk Pre-Experimental Design yang menggunakan desain “ one group pretest posttest design”. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 173757 Sidihoni yang berjumlah 30 siswa, dimana laki-laki berjumlah 17 orang dan perempuan berjumlah 13. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah berupa tes. Hasil dari pengujian hipotesis penelitian yaitu terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pada penelitian ini dari data yang sudah diujikan datanya dapat dilihat dari analisis data diperoleh hasil rata-rata kelas eksperimen pada pre-test (48,5) dan post-test (82,67). Hasil penelitian pada taraf 0,05 Berdasarkan analisis data nilai pretest dan posttest menunjukkan bahwa nilai sig (2-tailed) 0,00 < 0,05, dimana ditolak dan diterima. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik yang menggunakan model pembelajaran problem based learning terhadap hasil belajar subtema 2 pemanfaatan kekayaan alam di indonesia siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 173757 sidihoni T.A 2022/2023.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: Pengaruh Model Contextual Teaching and Learning Terhadap Hasil Belajar Peserta Didik Pada Subtema 1 Organ Gerak Hewan Kelas V UPTD SD Negeri 124386 Pematangsiantar T.A 2022/2023. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan eksperimen semu (quasi eksperimental design). Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VA dan VB 60 siswa. Sedangkan yang menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 60 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes pretest dan tes posttest yang telah dilakukan uji validasi dan reliabilitas. Hasil penelitian pada taraf 0,05 menunjukkan bahwa: Adanya Pengaruh Model Contextual Teaching and Learning terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas V pada Subtema 1 Organ Gerak Hewan Kelas V UPTD SD Negeri 124386 Pematangsiantar Berdasarkan analisis data nilai posttest dengan menggunakan uji-t di dapat thitung > ttabel yaitu dengan nilai 6.564 > 2,00172 maka Ha diterima sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang siginifikan antara peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik dengan menggunakan model Contextual Teaching and Learning dan peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik yag tidak menggunakan model Contextual Teaching and Learning.

Abstract

Observasi awal di SD Negeri 121308 yang dilakukan peneliti, yaitu pada saat melakukan Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan. Peneliti melihat kurangnya minat siswa dalam belajar. Siswa kelas III berjumlah 39 anak. Ada sekitar 21% siswa atau sekitar 8 siswa terlambat memasuki kelas, 13% siswa atau sekitar 5 siswa yang tidak membawa buku pembelajaran dan 26% siswa atau sekitar 10 siswa yang tidak mengerjakan tugas (PR). Selain itu, peneliti juga melihat bahwa kurangnya kreativitas guru dalam menyajikan pembelajaran. Selalu menggunakan metode ceramah di dalam menyajikan pembelajaran.Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian kuantitatif metode pre-eksperimental desain jenis one-group pretesst-posttest. Instrumen penelitian berbentuk test berupa pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur prestasi belajar dan non-test lembar Observasi untuk mengukur sikap. Instrumen tersebut digunakan setelah melakukan beberapa pengujian seperti uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, tingkat kesukaran dan uji daya beda. Tahap selanjutnya adalah analisis data, pada tahap inilah peneliti dapat merumuskan hasil-hasil penelitiannnya dengan melakukan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas data dan uji hipotesis.Data yang didapatkan 15 soal valid dan reliabel. Data yang diujikan normal dan homogen karena 0,05, hasil normalitas yang di dapat 0,958 dan homogenitas mendapatkan 0,333.Penerapan metode demonstrasi dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap minat belajar siswa terkhususnya pada tema 2 subtema 1 manfaat tumbuhan bagi manusia. Dengan hasil angka yang diperoleh menunjukkan H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Keberhasilan ini juga dapat dibuktikan dengan adanya peningkatan minat belajar terhadap nilai belajar siswa dengan nilai mean sebesar 83,62.

Improving writing skills is as supporting factor for the success of learning carried out by each teacher. Writing ability comes from the habit of reading and analyzing problems in learning that is carried out every day. The culture of writing is still far from being a habit for teachers of SMP Negeri 3 Jorlang Hataran. Therefore, the University of HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar University team has carried out a community service at SMP Negeri 3 Jorlang Hataran, Jalan Besar Parapat, Nagori Bah Sampuran. district Jorlang Hataran, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra where this service aims to socialize methods of improving English literacy skills using the problem based learning method for teachers of SMP Negeri 3 Jorlang Hataran. This service has been received with good response and was appreciated by the Principal of SMP Negeri 3 Jorlang Hataran. The results obtained from this service were 76.7% of participants who stated that they were satisfied with this service. It is hoped that with this activity, there will be a good cooperation established between the University and the school to develop the quality of teachers in order to create the higher quality education.
