Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe and analyze reading comprehension teaching techniques using jigsaw teaching techniques for eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Tapian Dolok. The aim of this research is to determine the effect. Jigsaw Teaching Technique on reading comprehension of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Tapian Dolok on descriptive text. This research uses a quantitative type of research with a quasi-experimental design. The sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling, with a sample of 62 class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Tapian Dolok. Two classes were taken as subjects for this research, namely the experimental class and the control class. Data obtained from the experimental class and control class were analyzed using the t-test formula. Researchers found that the post-test average in the experimental group was 83 and the post-test average in the control group was 77. The calculation results showed that at the 5% significance level, the t-count value > t-table (2.4 > 1.671 ). From these results, it appears that there is a significant difference between student achievement in reading comprehension of descriptive texts that use jigsaw teaching techniques and those taught using traditional lecture-based teaching methods. Therefore, the researchers concluded that there was a significant influence of the Jigsaw teaching technique on reading comprehension.

Abstract

This research aims at exploring high school students’ perception towards the use of ICT in EFL learning. To achieve the objective, 44 students at eleventh grade majoring in Language and Culture Science (IBB) SMA Negeri 1 Dolok Batu Nanggar located in Serbelawan were surveyed using questionnaire. The data obtained was analyzed by employing the descriptive analysis technique using questionnaire distributed to students in the form of Google Form. The results showed that the students’ perception was positive and high in each perception aspects in the questionnaire given. They are attractiveness, perceived effectiveness, and relevancy aspects that obtained index score of 86%, 84%, and 85% or categorized as strongly agree response, and 77% for perceived motivation aspects or categorized as agree response. Based on the result obtained, this study can be concluded that the use of ICT in EFL learning is attractive, effective, and relevant to the English material students need to learn. It also motivates students to learn English more.

Abstract

This research seeks to determine the effectiveness of implementing the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy in enhancing the reading comprehension abilities of Grade 11 students at SMK SW Persiapan Pematang Siantar during the academic year 2022/2023. The study utilized a quantitative research approach with a quasi-experiment design. The dependent variable is the student's reading comprehension ability, while the independent variable is the DRTA strategy. The research subjects were Grade 11 students at SMK SW Persiapan Pematang Siantar during the academic year 2022/2023. The study's objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of the DRTA strategy on reading comprehension. The study utilized pre-test and post-test instruments, and the results indicated that the mean score of the experimental group was higher than the control group. Therefore, it can be deduced that implementing the DRTA strategy positively influences the reading comprehension ability of Grade 11 students at SMK SW Persiapan Pematang Siantar during the academic year 2022/2023.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the use of Guided on Project based Learning on the seminar on ELT subject. This model focuses on the process of doing project through guiding by the lecturer. Guided of Project based Learning is applied into the seventh semester of EFL learners at FKIP Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar at acadmic year of 2023-2024. The data are taken from 84 learners. Quantitative research is done to investigate the effect of Guided of Project based Learning. The effect Guided is analysed based on the subjects’ project completely and respond based on questionnaires. This research finds the significant effect of Guided on Project based on Learning. It can be seen based on the mini research done the participants. They have maximal project based on lecturer guided. Guided on Project based Learning encourages and triggers the subjects to do the project systematically, Persistent. It means the guided of the lecturer on the Project based Learning has essential role to enhance not only the subjects’ cognitive but also their affective. Their projects are valuable to others through the national seminar. It indicates that the Guided on Project based Learning enables the subjects to be creative and innovative.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of Scrambled Pictures Stories media on students’ writing abilities in narrative texts among grade X students at SMA Negeri 1 Siantar. The theoretical framework was based on the work of Macon, Bewell, and Vogt. A quantitative research methodology was employed for this study. The population consisted of grade X students at SMA Negeri 1 Siantar for the academic year 2024/2025. The researcher selected two classes as samples: X-5 served as the experimental group, comprising 36 students, while X-6 acted as the control group, also with 36 students. The experimental group received instruction through Scrambled Pictures Stories media, whereas the control group was taught using conventional strategies. Data were collected via pre-tests and post-tests administered to both groups. The mean score for the experimental group in the pre-test was 58.55, compared to 48.97 for the control group. Conversely, the post-test mean score for the experimental group was 72, while the control group achieved a mean score of 53.69. The researcher utilized tests as the instrument for data collection. The t-test result was 329.33, exceeding the t-table value of 1.667 at a 5% significance level. This significant result indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, demonstrating a significant effect of using Scrambled Pictures Stories media on the narrative writing skills of grade X students at SMA Negeri 1 Siantar.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to assess the impact of the Riddle Teaching Technique on vocabulary mastery among eleventh-grade students at SMK Swasta GKPS 2 Pematangsiantar. The research employs a quasi-experimental design to gauge the effectiveness of this technique in enhancing students' vocabulary skills. The research population comprises 75 eleventh-grade students from SMK Swasta GKPS 2 Pematangsiantar. The sample is divided into two groups: the experimental group (XI TKR) with 30 students who employed the Riddle Teaching Technique, and the control group (XI TBSM) with 30 students who followed conventional learning methods. Data were gathered through writing tests administered as pre-tests and post-tests. The analysis was conducted using SPSS Version 26, which included descriptive analysis, tests for normality, the Wilcoxon test, homogeneity tests, and the Mann-Whitney test. The analysis results, particularly from the Mann-Whitney test, revealed an Asymptotic Significance (2-tailed) value of 0.025, which is less than the threshold of 0.05. This indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted while the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Therefore, it concludes that the Riddle Teaching Technique has a significant positive effect on the vocabulary mastery of eleventh-grade students at SMK Swasta GKPS 2 Pematangsiantar.

Abstract

Seorang guru harus mampu meningkatkan minat belajar peserta didik dan menyampaikan materi dengan menggunakan model-model pembelajaran yang tepat. Sehingga tujuan dari pembelajaran dapat tercapai dengan baik dan dapat berjalan dengan efektif dan efisien. Tujuan dilakukan nya penelitian ini untuk mengetahui:Pengaruh model PAIKEM terhadap minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPAS kelas IV SD Swasta HKBP Tomuan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif metode eksperimen. Berdasarkan batasan-batasan diatas, diketahui bahwa jumlah siswa kelas IV SD Swasta HKBP Tomuan sebanyak 28 orang siswa yang terdiri dari 1 kelas saja. Model paikem (Pembelajaran, aktif, inovatif, kreatif, efektif dan menyenangkan) sangat berpengaruh signifikan terhadap minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPAS SD Swasta HKBP Tomuan. Hal ini terbukti dari hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan uji “t” dengan hasil yang diperoleh, thitung = sedangkan ttabel pada taraf signifikasi 5% yaitu 1.73406. Dengan demikian thitung >ttabel yaitu (5.167 > 1.73406). Kesimpulan dari dilakukan nya penelitian ini Berarti hipotesis alternatif (Ha) pada penelitian dapat diterima, yaitu minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPAS kelas IV SD Swasta HKBP Tomuan sesudah menerapkan model PAIKEM (Pembelajaran aktif, inovatif, kreatif, efektif, dan menyenangkan) lebih baik dari pada sebelum menerapkan model pembelajaran PAIKEM (Pembelajaran aktif, inovatif, kreatif, efektif, dan menyenangkan) di SD Swasta HKBPN Tomuan

Abstract

Penelitian tindakan kelas (classroom action research) dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris adalah salah satu upaya meningkatkan presetasi belajar. Penelitian tindakan kelas masih perlu membutuhkan perhatian khusus agar objektif pembelajaran dapat tercapai dengan baik. Maka kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan penelitian tindakan kelas bagi para guru di SMA Negeri 2 Siborongborong. PKM ini dilaksanakan dengan metode pendidikan kepada masyarakat yang berjalan melalui workshop denga pilot studi pada mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris. Pelaksanaan dimulai dengan adanya information sharing session oleh narasumber atau dengan metode seminar. Kemudian adanya tahap diskusi untuk pendalaman materi dan dilanjut dengan pemantapan materi lewat pembuatan atau desain penelitian tindakan kelas sesuai dengan latar belakang dalam pembelajaran oleh masing-masing guru mata pelajaran. PKM ini dilaksanakan oleh Dosen Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP) Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar kepada 57 orang guru SMA Negeri 2 Siborongborong sebagai peserta. Pelaksanaan PKM ini didasari oleh informasi yang diperoleh dari mitra melalui interview bahwa mitra membutuhkan pembekalan penelitian tindakan kelas terhadap para guru untuk meningkatkan inovasi pembelajaran. Pada pelaksanaan PKM terlaksana dengan baik melalui metode focus group discussion (FGD) sebagai analysis data. Berdasarkan diskusi antar sesama peserta dan narasumber atas integrasi AI dalam penelitian tindakan kelas. PKM ini dipandang perlu untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar dalam mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris. Maka PKM ini dapat disimpulkan terlaksana dengan baik dan dapat mengoptimalkan penerapan AI dalam penelitian tindakan kelas melalui kinerja para peserta dalam mendesain penelitian tindakan kelas. Pelaksanaan PKM ini disambut hangat oleh peserta dan memberikan dampak yang baik terbukti dengan permintaan para peserta untuk tindakan PKM lanjutan dengan topik model-model pembelajaran innovatif sehingga meningkatkan prestasi belajar dalam mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

This study systematically reviews the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in elementary education, focusing on the role of AI in enhancing teaching effectiveness, personalized learning, and student engagement. The research synthesizes various studies from the past decade to identify key AI technologies, the challenges faced, and the requirements for successful adoption in primary schools. The findings reveal that AI technologies, such as biosensors, voice recognition systems, and AI-powered platforms, significantly contribute to creating adaptive learning environments and providing real-time feedback, thus supporting personalized and experiential learning. However, the study also highlights challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, teacher competence, and ethical concerns regarding data privacy and algorithmic bias. Addressing these challenges requires investment in infrastructure, ongoing teacher training, and clear ethical guidelines to ensure equitable access to AI-driven learning. The study concludes that while AI holds great potential to transform primary education, its successful implementation depends on overcoming these barriers and fostering a culture of innovation within schools. The results offer practical recommendations for educators, policymakers, and technology developers to optimize AI use in primary schools, ensuring that it becomes an inclusive tool for enhancing educational outcomes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together (NHT) terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas V pada tema 3 makanan sehat subtema 2 pentingnya makanan sehat bagi tubuh di UPTD SDN 122332 Pematang Siantar. Ada 2 hipotesis dalam penelitian ini yaitu: (ha) terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together (NHT) terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas V pada tema 3 makanan sehat subtema 2 pentingnya makanan sehat bagi tubuh di UPTD SDN 122332 Pematang Siantar dan (Ho) tidak terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together (NHT) terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas V pada tema 3 makanan sehat subtema 2 pentingnya makanan sehat bagi tubuh di UPTD SDN 122332 Pematang Siantar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan jenis penelitian pre-experimental design dengan desain penelitian One-Group Pretest-Posttes Design. Sampel penelitian ini yaitu berjumlah 28 siswa yang terdiri dari 12 siswa laki-laki dan 16 siswa perempuan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu tes dan uji coba instrument. Hasil uji N-Gain dari analisis data yang dilakukan maka diperoleh hasil uji N-Gain dari hasil tes yang diberikan kepada siswa maka di peroleh,N-Gain 66.7448% Maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Penjelasan ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model NHT terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas V pada subtema 2 pentingnya makanan sehat bagi tubuh di UPTD SD Negeri 122332 Pematang Siantar.
