Abstract

Background and purpose:Fall prevention is an essential part of patient safety system. At Tabanan District Hospital (BRSUD Tabanan), incidence of falling among patients is still happening. This study aims to determine the relationship between level of knowledge and workload of nurses with compliance in implementing standard operational procedures (SOP) to prevent the risk of falling in the inpatient rooms at Tabanan District Hospital. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey. The sample size was 75 nurses in the inpatient room at BRSUD Tabanan. Data collection was carried out in the period of December 2, 2019 - January 2, 2020 which included 1). direct interviews to obtain data on characteristics, the level of knowledge and workload of nurses, 2). observations of nurses’ adherence in the implementation of standard operational procedures to prevent the risk of falling patients. Data analysis was performed by univariate, bivariate with chi-square test and multivariate analysis with logistic regression. Results: Most of the respondents were ≤40 years old (86.7%), female (72%), length of working ≤10 years (81.4%), education level of bachelor in nursing (65.4%). Two third of the respondents have a good level of knowledge (66.7%), with medium workload (26.7%) and heavy workload (73.3%). Most of the respondents (70.7%) adhere to the implementation of standard operating procedures to prevent the risk of falling patients. Variables associated with the compliance to SOP are age (AOR=5.35; 95%CI: 1.230-23.259; p=0.025), level of knowledge (AOR=6.409; 95%CI: 1.720-23.873; p=0.006), and workload (AOR=0.076; 95%CI: 0.17-0.339; p=0.001), where the workload variable has a negative relationship with nurse compliance (AOR<1). Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and workload on nurses’ compliance in implementing standard operational procedures to prevent the risk of falling patients

Abstract

Background and purpose: By December 2020, 678 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in East Lombok District, and more are anticipated. The capacity of the available healthcare institutions is now impacted by the inclusion of these cases. In this study, the duration of stay of COVID-19 patients at Dr. R. Soedjono Hospital in Selong, East Lombok will be described, as well as the association between sociodemographic and clinical factors with length of stay. Methods: This is an observational study with a cross-sectional design using medical records of 409 patients who were confirmed positive for COVID-19 then treated in April-December 2020 and declared cured after completed the treatment period. The data collected included the date of admission and discharge of patients, age, gender, marital status, education, occupation, history of comorbidities and laboratory test results. Data analysis was performed using multiple logistic regression. Results: The average length of stay for COVID-19 patients at Dr. R. Soedjono Hospital Selong, East Lombok was 16 days (SD±7,366) and the median was 14 days (IQR=7). Multivariate analysis shows factors for patients being treated for longer time (the average length of stay ≥17 days) were male (AOR=1.87; 95%CI: 1.21-2.86) and low education level (AOR=1.91; 95%CI: 1.19-3.06). Conclusion: The average length of stay of COVID-19 patients in this hospital was quite long at 16 days. Male COVID-19 patients and those with low education have higher likelihood to stay longer in hospital. The hospital should consider this information to improve hospital planning for COVID-19 patients

Abstract

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has prompted Indonesian expatriates to return home. Travel history, including migrant repatriation, was thought to spread COVID-19. These factors increased COVID-19 transmission. This study examined the epidemiological, clinical, and occupational characteristics of migrant workers with COVID-19 at Udayana University Hospital. This descriptive study utilized a cross-sectional methodology. The research samples consisted of 97 migrant workers diagnosed with COVID-19 who had been treated at Udayana University Hospital between March to August of 2020, using the total sampling technique. The median age (IQR) of migrant workers is 30, and 84.53% are male. Before returning to Indonesia, many worked and visited the US (20.6%). 87.63% of respondents worked in hospitality sector, and mostly worked in 8–12-hour shifts. All respondents have insurance; most employers are provided with PPE and information regarding COVID-19 prevention. At the airport, COVID-19 screening revealed fever (70.6%) and cough (76.3%) as the most common symptoms. A 94.8% of migrant workers had no comorbidities, and 87.6% had normal chest X-rays. From this research, we discovered that amongst migrant workers, positive-COVID-19 results were mostly found in young, mobile men. Most of them worked for 8–12 hours per day, and majority worked in hospitality sector. Almost all of them did not have any comorbidities and the most common symptoms found were fever and cough. The findings suggest that male workers in their productive age with high mobility and working in the hospitality sector are at higher risk of infection.

Abstract

Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a new disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-COV-2). The COVID-19's symptoms are fatigue, muscle pain, and psychological disorders. The purpose of this study was to describe the occupational characteristics and health conditions of COVID-19 patients who had recovered after being treated at Udayana University Hospital. This study is a descriptive study with a quantitative method and cross-sectional design. The research samples were 110 COVID-19 patients treated at Udayana University Hospital from June to August 2020 and taken using random sampling. The results showed that the highest proportion of respondents were aged between 24-44 years (44.5%), with almost equal proportions of women (50.1%) and men (49.09%). Most of them lived in Denpasar (46.36%). Most respondents work as private sector employees (24.55%), and 70% of them were using personal protective equipment (PPE) while working. Most respondents needed less than seven days to return to work after being declared "in recovery state” (60%), with the remaining 55.5% having a decreased work duration to be less than 8 hours per day. The proportion of respondents with comorbidities was 30.91%. As many as 27.27% were experiencing previously similar symptoms (fever, fatigue, cough) 4 to 5 months after being declared "cured.” COVID-19 patients who have recovered should be monitored for a longer period of time to evaluate the symptom reoccurrence and its impact on their occupational and health conditions.

Abstract

Background: Bali is a popular tourist destination because of its unique culture. One of its unique features is the Balinese dance, which is used to welcome guests, perform arts, and perform religious ceremonies. Many Balinese dancers experience generalized joint hypermobility (GJH) without realizing it, which may have a negative impact on them, especially if they have a problem of musculoskeletal pain. Methods: This research used an analytical observational design of a cross-sectional study. This study employed the sampling technique of purposive technique with a total sampling method. The inclusion criteria for this study were traditional Balinese dancers living in Denpasar city, female, aged 14-20, and having dancing experience more than 1 year. Exclusion criteria were subjects after surgery for fractures or other musculoskeletal injuries in the upper or lower extremities, subjects with signs of acute inflammation in the joints, and those unwilling to be research subjects. The number of samples was calculated using the lame show formula, and 85 samples were obtained. Data was collected by measuring GJH and musculoskeletal disorders using the Nordic body map questionnaire. Results: Based on the bivariate analysis test with Spearman's rho, p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05) was obtained for the two independent variables with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.797. Conclusion: Based on the research results, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between GJH and MSDs in the Balinese dancer population in Denpasar City.

Abstract

Nursing supervision can impact nurses' ability to generate, direct, and maintain behaviors relevant to nurses’ work environment. However, the fact is that oversight has not been implemented optimally. The following are the sample inclusion criteria in this research article: i) Research articles published between 2018 and 2023. ii) The article's research design is experimental or publication. iii) Research studies examine how the process of establishing vision supervision is carried out. iv) The research article is about clinical nurse supervision. A systematic review was performed in this study to assess 12 journals that were studied and included in the inclusion criteria. The findings of this investigation were achieved. The framework and clinical supervisor’s perceptions are divided into three themes: organizing learning, supporting tool for understanding what nursing care is, and developing own supervision practice. Supervisors view the fundamentals of care framework favorably and utilize it to structure and stimulate students' contemplation on what nursing is and demands.

Abstract

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) are still challenges worldwide. Improvement in quality of life (QoL) is crucial for HIV-infected people. The QoL of HIV-infected patients has been improved by the use of multilevel interventions in various circumstances. This study evaluates the evidence for interventions that target the quality of life of persons with HIV. A systematic review was performed according to the PRISMA guidelines. Science Direct, the Cochrane Library database, and Pubmed were also searched. Three independent reviewers extracted the data. Searches were conducted for articles published from 2013 to 2023. Searching procedures and data abstraction techniques were standardized. The 27 research examined the effects of interventions on HIVinfected people's quality of life. China is the most frequently mentioned country in the 27 studies, appearing as the setting in 8 (29.6%). Following South Africa (14.8%), New York (11.11%) and Kenya (7.4%) were the next most often mentioned countries. For analysis purposes, the interventions used in the 27 reviewed studies were classified into three main categories: individual intervention, family-community intervention, and health service intervention. Significant intervention innovations in quality-of-life research combining several interventions, including individual, family, community, and health system intervention, show the most promising results
