Abstract

AbstractThe development of competency assessments that measure 21st century competencies is critical for improving the quality of education. The purpose of this research is to describe a framework and prototype for assessing Math and Science or Math-Sci competency skills in the twenty-first century. The method of development research employed in this study is based on the Akker framework, which entails preliminary research, prototyping, design, and development in a paper and pencil test format. The equipment of the investigation included observation sheets, questionnaires, and tests. This study results in a conceptual framework for the instrument and a verified prototype of the Math-Sci competence evaluation. The Math-Sci competence evaluation is conceptualized around thematic, interdisciplinary questions that integrate three (three) subjects, namely Science (Biology-Physics) and Mathematics, in an Islamic context. Math-Sci, using the ladder analogy (monodisciplinary, interdisciplinary 1, and interdisciplinary 2) to rank students' competency, relates to the thought process of Bloom's taxonomy, the context, and the complexity of the topic. The instrument created was deemed valid and practicable based on the results of expert validation. The development of the Math-Sci competence assessment instrument was the first step toward strengthening assessment for learning and assisting in the improvement of learning through the presentation of integrated contextual problems. AbstrakPengembangan asesmen kompetensi yang membekalkan kecakapan abad 21 sangat urgent untuk memperbaiki proses pembelajaran di sekolah. Abstract

This research aimed to analyze students' Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) using a two-tier multiple choice (TTMC) test instrument. This study used a descriptive quantitative method with a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used are multiple-choice tests with free reasoning, the TTMC test for quantitative data, interview guides, and learning observations for qualitative data. Anderson and Krathwohl's Bloom taxonomy revision (2001) cognitive instrument used to classify HOTS. The results showed that the higher-order thinking skill profile has an average score of 63,21 and dominated good. Students' cognitive level of analyzing/C4 (74,35%) is more dominant compared to cognitive evaluating/C5 (68,90%) and creating/C6 (63,24%). The hormonal regulatory subconcept gets the highest correct answer average with a percentage of 89,74%, and the contraceptive method subconcept gets the lowest correct answer average with 35,90%. One factor that influences the high and low percentage of the correct answer for each subconcept is the level of difficulty of the question; medium (enough) in the contraceptive method and too tricky in the contraceptive method. Analysis of answer patterns based on the results of a TTMC test shows that students are better able to answer questions on the first tier than answering on the second tier.

Abstract

Biology learning that focuses more on conveying material concepts results in less classroom interaction. Each teacher's interaction skills vary, thus creating a different quality of learning environment. An ideal learning environment should stimulate curiosity and encourage active student involvement. To achieve this condition, the interpersonal interaction factor of teachers is an important variable that needs to be examined. This study was conducted with the primary focus of analyzing the relationship between teacher interpersonal interaction and the biology learning environment in Senior High Schools in South Tangerang City. The research method used was a survey with correlational techniques. There were 96 students as samples from seven different schools using the Cluster area sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, specifically the Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction (QTI) and "What Is Happening In This Class?" (WIHIC). The study's results showed a positive and significant relationship between teacher interpersonal interaction and the biology learning environment. Teacher interpersonal interaction accounted for 5.85% of the quality of the biology learning environment, with the remaining quality influenced by other factors. The teacher's interpersonal interaction and the biology learning environment were categorized as moderate, with percentages of 80% and 73%, respectively. It is recommended that teachers develop interpersonal interaction skills and implement more interactive teaching approaches to improve the quality of the biology learning environment.

Abstract

This study explores the strategic role of Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI) in shaping legal awareness among Muslim communities in Indonesia, a nation where Islamic legal norms coexist with a comprehensive system of positive law. Legal awareness is a fundamental element in sustaining social order, strengthening obedience to law, and promoting harmony between religious obligations and national legal frameworks. Adopting a qualitative, literature-based research design, this study employs a normative legal approach supported by secondary data drawn from classical and contemporary Islamic legal sources, statutory regulations, and relevant academic literature. The analysis yields three significant findings. First, a noticeable gap remains between the normative ideals embedded in PAI curricula and the actual legal behavior exhibited within Muslim communities. Second, the internalization of legal principles is often constrained by cultural patterns, social habits, and structural limitations that dilute the pedagogical impact of PAI. Third, the effectiveness of PAI in fostering legal consciousness can be strengthened through integrated juridical, educational, and socio-cultural strategies that align Islamic values with the objectives of Indonesian positive law. Overall, this study highlights the transformative potential of PAI as a bridging instrument that harmonizes Islamic legal ethics with state law, thereby contributing to a more legally aware and socially responsible Muslim society.
