Abstract

Penelitian dilakukan di peternakan babi PT Fajar Semesta Indah di Singkawang Kalimantan Barat. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui performans produksi pada babi Duroc, Yorkshire serta persilangannya. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini bangsa babi Yorkshire, Duroc, persilangan Yorkshire-Duroc serta persilangan Duroc- Yorkshire dengan jumlah masing-masing 197 ekor; 264 ekor; 168 ekor dan 275 ekor. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pengamatan dan pengukuran langsung pada ternak babi dengan menggunakan data primer. Penentuan sample menggunakan purposive sampling. Variabel yang diamati adalah litter size, berat lahir, berat sapih dan mortalitas anak babi prasapih. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh bangsa terhadap sifat produksi digunakan analisis ragam Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rataan litter size, berat lahir dan berat sapih anak babi masing-masing pada bangsa babi Yorkshire (9,38±2,87 ekor; 1,24±0,25 kg dan 6,73±0,71 kg), Duroc  (8,41±3,26 ekor; 1,23±0,26 kg dan 6,54±1,07 kg); babi persilangan Yorkshire-Duroc (9,88±3,04 ekor; 1,26±0,36 kg dan 6,84±0,78 kg) serta persilangan Duroc-Yorkshire (9,48±2,63 ekor; 1,28±0,26 kg dan 6,91±0,86 kg). Laju kematian anak prasapih  secara berturut turut yaitu pada babi persilangan Yorkshire-Duroc sebesar 17,85 persen; Yorkshire sebesar 15,74 persen; Duroc 13,64  persen serta persilangan Duroc-Yorkshire sebesar 11,64 persen. Disimpulkan sistem perkawinan antar bangsa babi tidak berpengaruh terhadap litter size dan berat lahir tetapi berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap berat sapih anak babi. Disarankan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas babi di PT Fajar Indah Semesta sebaiknya melakukan perkawinan silang.

Abstract

The research was conducted  from May – September 2017 in PT Fajar Semesta Indah Singkawang. This study aims to estimate of genetic parameter on birth weight and weaning weight in Duroc and Yorkshire pig. The material used in this study were Duroc danYorkshire by the number of 286 and 2017 pig. Variables observed in this study were birth weight, weaning weight and mortality weaning. Data analysis of litter size heritability was estimated using paternal half sib method and heritability birth weight and weaning weight using nested design. The results showed the average birth weight  and  weaning weight in breed pig Duroc (1.22±0.22 kg and 6.52±0.98 kg) and Duroc pig (1.25±0.19 kg and 6.69±0.67 kg). Estimated heritability birth weight and weaning weight in breed pig Duroc (0.26±0.19 and 0.34±0.12) and Yorkshire (0.15±0.21 and 0.47±0.36). The heritability of birth and weaning weight were considered as high which means that the selection programme will be more effective and efficient in improving the genetic merits.

Abstract

Nowadays, demand for foods of animal origin is not limited in terms of quantity, but also the quality, nutritional value and safety for human consumption. Animal-derived foodstuffss can contain biological and chemical hazards through a contamination process. The aim of this study was to detect antibiotic residues and microbial contaminants in animal-derived foodstuffs, i.e. chicken meat, eggs, beef and pork. Samples were collected from different traditional markets (Flamboyan, Mawar, Kemuning and Dahlia) in Pontianak city, Indonesia. Antibiotic residues in foodstuffs were detected using the bioassay method against 4 classes of antibiotics (aminoglycoside, macrolide, penicillin and tetracycline), while the tested microbial contaminants included total plate count (TPC), Escherichia coli, Coliform and Salmonella sp.. Data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that antibiotic residues were only detected in chicken products. In chicken meat, 3 (60%) samples tested positive for tetracycline, while in chicken eggs, 3 (60%) and 5 (100%) samples tested positive for aminoglycoside and penicillin, respectively. As per the SNI 7388:2009, of the analyzed samples, 12 (100%) chicken meat, 6 (75%) beef and 5 (100%) pork samples exceeded the limit for TPC; 5 (41.67%) chicken meat and 5 (100%) pork samples exceeded the limit for both coliform bacteria and E. coli; and 7 (58.33%) chicken meat and 3 (37.5%) beef samples were positive for Salmonella. In conclusion, considerable levels of microbial contamination were detected in chicken and beef products in Pontianak city.

Abstract

The study of this research was to evaluate the effect of pegagan (Centellaasiatica) on quail production performance. The materials used in this studywere 200 quail phase layer Coturnix-coturnix japonica strain. The methodused was experimental design with completely randomized design (CRD) with 4treatments and 5 replications. The treatments in this study were the feedcontrol without the addition of pegagan meal (P0); 0.5% (P1); 1% (P2) and1.5% pegagan meal (P3). The variables observed were feed intake (g/bird /day);Hen Day Production (%); feed conversion and egg weight (g/bird/day). Abstract

Madura, a local cattle breed in Indonesia,  is included as a national genetic resource. Genetic evaluation for growth traits in Madura cattle is important for appropriate utilization and improvement of this breed. The aim of this study was to estimate the heritability for growth traits in Madura cattle. The method used in this study is a data recording from 2010 until 2016 including birth weight (190 animals), weight at day 205 (155 animals) and weight at day 365 (135 animals) were used for heritability estimates by using paternal half sib correlation. The results showed that heritability estimates for birth weight, weight at day 205 and weight at day 365 were 0.38±0.17; 0.64±0.22 dan 0.54±0.18. Estimates of heritability for growth traits in Madura cattle ranged between medium and high. In conclusion,growth traits can be used as selection criteria for future genetic improvement in Madura cattle.

Abstract

UPT Pembibitan dan Kesehatan Hewan Pamekasan adalah unit pelayanan milik Pemerintah Jawa Timur yang khusus menangani pembibitan sapi Madura. Pendugaan nilai parameter genetik yang didasarkan pada catatan produksi dapat digunakan sebagai dasar evaluasi terhadap nilai pemuliaan dan keunggulan genetik sapi Madura melalui metode MPPA (Most Probable Producing Ability). Penelitian ini menggunakan catatan produksi tahun 2014-2019 dari 52 ekor induk yang berjumlah 127 keturunan. Ripitabilitas dihitung berdasarkan metode korelasi antar kelas sedangkan metode Most Probable Producing Ability (MPPA) digunakan untuk menduga keunggulan performans produksi induk sapi Madura. Rataan berat badan sapi Madura umur 205 hari dan 365 hari masing-masing sebesar 83,55±15,66 kg dan 109,97±16,04 kg. Estimasi ripitabilitas berat umur 205 hari dan berat umur 365 hari yang dihasilkan termasuk dalam kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan nilai pendugaan MPPA performans produksi sapi Madura pada berat umur 205 hari dan 365 hari didapat induk terbaik sapi Madura dengan nomor identitas 386 dan induk dengan nomor identitas 378 dengan nilai pendugaan masing-masing 118,52 kg dan 142,34 kg.

Abstract

Abstract

Livestock is one of the agricultural sub-sectors. Currently, broiler farming business attacks have many attention for researchers to be studied. Trading system becomes an integral part in the entire business activity, so do in broiler farming business. The trading system in broiler farming business is included in the downstream agribusiness sub-system so the farmers are able to be easier in distributing their livestock products to consumers. The aim of this study was to evaluate the trading system of broiler chicken with self-operating model in Rasau Jaya sub-district, Kubu Raya district, West Kalimantan from January to March 2018. Total of 32 livestock keepers and 8 traders were used as samples. Both of the primary and secondary data were collected. This study was performed using descriptive survey method. Snowball sampling method was also applied for sample collection. Trading system of broiler farming business in the studied location is divided into two channels. Channel I consisted of breeders, collectors, consumers, while Channel II consisted of farmers, collectors, retailers, consumers. It could be concluded that channel II was more complex than Channel 1 because in Channel II there was a retailer that had a function as intermediary between traders and consumers. Keywords: Broiler Chicken, Farming Bussiness, Marketing, Self-Operating Model, Trading System

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengestimasi nilai korelasi genetik berat lahir, berat sapih dan berat setahun pada sapi Madura. Penelitian dilaksanakan di UPT Pembibitan Ternak dan Kesehatan Hewan, Kabupaten Pamekasan Jawa Timur pada bulan November - Desember 2019 sampai Januari 2017. Materi penelitian meliputi 307 ekor sapi Madura yang berasal dari 12 pejantan dan 307 ekor betina. Korelasi genetik dianalisi dengan analisis peragam antar saudara tiri . Nilai korelasi genetik antara bobot lahir dengan bobot sapih sebesar 0,14, bobot lahir dengan bobot setahun sebesar 0,42 sedangkan bobot sapih dengan bobot setahun sebesar 0,58. Pelaksanaan seleksi pada sapi Madura dapat dilakukan berdasarkan berat lahir dan berat sapih karena berat lahir dan berat sapih memiliki korelasi genetik positif yang tinggi terhadap berat setahun.

Abstract

Dengue fever is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus, and there is no yet effective drug to treat this disease successfully. Our study aimed to identify the bioactive compounds of Acorus calamus L. and its potential role in inhibiting dengue virus NS3 protease-helicase. Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry analyzed phytochemical constituents. Drug-likeness of the predominant compound methanol extract of Acorus calamus L. was investigated through the SWISS ADME server. Complex molecular interactions were investigated by Hex 8.0 docking program and Discovery studio 2016. Our study revealed that the five largest phytochemicals in the extract were acoric acid, acorone, acoradin, acoronene, and calamendiol. All predominant compounds are potent to be developed as drug candidates. Molecular docking results showed that the five compounds bind to the Arg599, Pro291, Lys388, Pro431, and His487 of the dengue virus NS3 protease-helicase, the ligand-binding site that plays an essential role in viral replication. The ligand-protein binding pattern exhibited hydrogen and hydrophobic interactions. The interaction of the acoradin-NS3 protease-helicase complex had the lowest binding energy of -299.7 kcal/mol. In summary, we conclude that Acorus calamus L. extract may have prospects as a drug for dengue virus infection.
