Abstract

High-intensity exercise (3000-meter runner) contributes to muscle fatigue. Fatigue can be determined by measuring blood lactate levels. Blood lactate levels are a product of anaerobic metabolism. Lactate accumulation due to anaerobic physical activity can inhibit the glycolytic enzyme that affects decreased ATP production, damage of the calcium and sodium pumps in the muscles and causes fatigue. This study aimed to analyze the effect of vitamin E on the level of fatigue through the response of blood lactate levels in the runner 3000 meters. This research was a quasi-experimental research with a pretest-posttest design. Research subjects were 9 volunteer athletes (3000 meters runners) Aceh province, male, and aged 15-20 years. The treatments were vitamin E at a dose of 1x400 IU per day and administered for 14 days. Blood lactate levels were examined using the method of calorimetry. The statistical analysis was using the homogeneity test of variance (Levene's test), the normality test (Kolmogorov-Smirnov test) and paired t-test with a significant level of 5% (p-value<0.05). The results showed that blood lactate levels decreased approximately 13.93% after vitamin E supplementation. There was no significant difference (p=0.27) between blood lactate levels before and after vitamin E supplementation in athletes. In conclusion, vitamin E supplementation did not significantly lower blood lactate levels therefore vitamin E did not significantly reduce muscle fatigue in men's athletics.

Abstract

Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) is a global health problem, often underestimated, and leads to permanent hearing loss. The prevalence of NIHL in adolescents has increased in line with the increasing use of cell phones. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of NIHL and analyze the population at risk (age, gender, and school) in adolescent students. The study design was a cross-sectional study. A total of 510 students consisting of female, n=288 and male, n=222; junior high school, n=203 and senior high school, n=307 were used as research subjects. This study was conducted on August-October 2015 at Darul Ihsan School, Banda Aceh, Indonesia. An audiometry examination was performed to determine the diagnosis of NIHL. Data analysis was using descriptive analysis and independent sample t-test(p<0.05). The results of this study were the prevalence of NIHL in adolescents aged 11-20 years was 18.88%. The highest percentage of NIHL was at the age of 15 years (34.57%). The number of NIHL was significantly higher (p=0.000*) in males (24.32%) compared to females (9.37%). The prevalence of NIHL was significantly higher (p=0.00*) in senior high school children (26.11%) compared to that in junior high school children (9.12%). In conclusion, the highest prevalence of NIHL was at the age of 15 years. NIHL was more common in male than in female students. NIHL was higher in high school students compared to junior high school students. The NIHL was related to age, gender, and school level.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Coffee is a popular ergogenic beverage that improves stamina and reduces fatigue. Coffee's caffeine content is thought to be the main ingredient in ergogenic supplements, which increase endurance during physical activity. Objective: This study investigates the acute effect of brewed coffee on muscle fatigue markers, namely blood lactate and volume of oxygen maximum (VO2max), in sedentary males after a standardized physical activity protocol. Methods: This research was quasi-experimental (posttest-only with a control group design). The subjects were men aged 18-22 years, with 16 people. They were divided into a control group (n=9) and a intervention group (n=7). The intervention was heavy physical activity (1600-meter run) and Gayo Arabica coffee. Data analysis used an independent sample t-test (p < 0.05).Results: Blood lactate levels were significantly higher in the intervention group than in the control group (15.04 ± 2.38 vs. 10.60 ± 4.10; p = 0.018), even though VO2max values were higher but not statistically significant (39.57 ± 2.37 vs. 37.62 ± 4.17; p = 0.297).Conclusions: Coffee consumption considerably raises blood lactate levels, but it has no discernible effect on VO2max values in sedentary men who exercise vigorously. Therefore, more research is necessary to fully understand how coffee affects ergogenic and fatigue. Keywords: Coffee; VO2max; blood lactate; sedentary; heavy physical activity

Abstract

Abstract

The implementation of the PDRD Law Number 28 of 2009 concerning the addition and delegation of types of regional taxes and fees has become an opportunity for local governments to maximize all the potential of their regions so that they can increase their regional income. Therefore, exploring the potential and information of groundwater tax in Banggai Regency is one of the important factors to increase local tax revenue. during the 2018-2020 period. This study applies a qualitative descriptive method with a research focus on the potential and contribution of groundwater tax to regional tax revenues in Banggai Regency. The research location is at the Regional Revenue Agency of Banggai Regency. Excavation of the potential for groundwater tax in Banggai Regency resulted in a good percentage in the 2018-2019 period because it had increased and in the 2019-2020 period it had decreased. The untapped potential is 2,641,856,175.4. The biggest groundwater tax contribution is 0.47%, namely in 2019 while in 2018 it was 0.11 and in 2020 it was 0.46. This requires the government's efforts to increase the potential and contribution of groundwater tax so that regional revenues for Banggai Regency also increase.
