Abstract

In a criminal justice system that upholds the principle of justice, the protection of suspects' rights is a crucial and fundamental component. Investigators play a crucial role in ensuring suspects' rights are protected during the investigation process, including the right to legal counsel, the right to access information, and the right to be free from arbitrary prosecution. The aim of this study is to explore the role of investigators in guaranteeing these rights and highlight challenges in their implementation. The study revealed that many suspects did not receive legal assistance from the beginning of the examination, lacked understanding of their rights, and faced investigations that often violated due process of law. This problem is exacerbated by limited human resources, inadequate internal oversight, and lack of ongoing training for investigators. These factors contribute to the failure to enforce the rights of suspects as a whole, which impacts the fairness and integrity of the legal process. In an effort to realize a fast, simple, and inexpensive judicial process, as promised in Law Number 48 of 2009, this study emphasizes the need for reforms to strengthen the investigation process. The reforms include improvements in the aspects of supervision and more in-depth training of investigators on human rights, so that they can better understand and implement the protection of the rights of suspects. In addition, the use of technology in investigations, such as digital-based information systems to manage evidence and legal processes, can increase transparency and accuracy in every stage of investigation. Strengthening internal supervision mechanisms is also very important to minimize abuse of authority by investigators. On the other hand, it is important to periodically evaluate the application of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in investigations, in order to ensure compliance with applicable laws and provide justice for suspects.

Abstract

The information system is crucial for business processes in all fields, including education. A library at SMK Negeri 1 Jawai, Sambas Regency, currently manages its data, borrowing, and book return processes manually, using physical records and writing tools. With such management, the library faces various challenges. Common issues include students having difficulty tracking borrowed books, problems with lost returns, and discrepancies in the number of loans and returns. Therefore, this research aims to improve business processes at SMK Negeri 1 Jawai's library by developing a web-based information system tailored to its needs. Rapid Application Development was chosen as the development method for this library information system due to its ability to quickly produce a high-quality system. The method involves stages such as requirement planning, system design, and implementation. RAD is capable of creating a website that provides objective information. The resulting Information System from this research was tested using Blackbox Testing, which confirmed that all features and processing flows functioned correctly.

Abstract

The community in Sumberkalong Village, Wonosari District, Bondowoso Regency faces several issues related to the use of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA), including lack of knowledge, underutilized home gardens, and the absence of active community groups managing TOGA. A participatory approach is needed to address these issues sustainably. This community service activity aims to improve public knowledge and skills regarding the cultivation and utilization of TOGA, promote the optimal use of home gardens, and establish community-based TOGA activist groups. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR) through stages of problem identification, participatory planning, collaborative implementation, observation, reflection, and follow-up actions. The results show increased public awareness and enthusiasm in cultivating TOGA, the formation of small TOGA groups, and program sustainability through cooperation between residents and local health cadres.

Abstract

Income Tax (PPh) 21 often poses a challenge for companies and employees in managing tax payments efficiently and accurately. CV. ECS Consulting Service, which currently uses Microsoft Excel for PPh 21 calculations, faces risks of errors and time-consuming manual processes. This research aims to develop a web-based PPh 21 calculation application using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method tailored to the company’s needs. Data collection methods include direct observation and literature study, while the application development method adopts RAD, which is iterative and responsive to changing requirements. The scope of the research includes user interface design, development of calculation algorithms, employee data processing, and ensuring data security. The application was tested using Black Box testing to ensure all features function properly, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to assess whether it meets user needs, and performance testing to evaluate the website’s speed and stability. Black Box testing was conducted on six cases, and UAT was carried out directly with users. The results showed that the application passed all tests and met the required functionalities. Performance testing also indicated that the system is fairly stable, although further improvement is needed for long-term use or during high traffic.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of organizational communication in developing the character and ethics of Generation Z students through their involvement in extracurricular organizations at Yudharta University, Pasuruan. Generation Z is known as a digital generation that grew up in the midst of information technology, thus facing challenges in communication skills, ethical development, and character building. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation of members and administrators of student organizations such as PMII, GMNI, MATAN, and PKPT IPNU-IPPNU. The results show that organizational communication plays a significant role in instilling important values, including responsibility, integrity, empathy, tolerance, leadership, and ethical communication. The communication process is two-way and open, both in formal forums such as meetings and in everyday informal interactions, thus facilitating the internalization of moral values. This communication pattern has proven effective in shaping students' character to be more adaptive, communicative, and ethical. This study concludes that extracurricular organizations are not only a forum for developing interests and talents, but also a strategic arena for preparing Generation Z students to face the demands of the digital era with strong character and good ethics. With targeted organizational communication, students can develop into individuals with integrity, leadership skills, and communication skills relevant to the needs of modern society. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran komunikasi organisasi dalam membangun karakter dan etika mahasiswa Generasi Z melalui keterlibatan mereka dalam organisasi ekstrakurikuler di Universitas Yudharta Pasuruan. Generasi Z dikenal sebagai generasi digital yang tumbuh dalam arus teknologi informasi, sehingga menghadapi tantangan dalam hal keterampilan komunikasi, pembentukan etika, dan penguatan karakter. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, serta dokumentasi terhadap anggota maupun pengurus organisasi mahasiswa seperti PMII, GMNI, MATAN, dan PKPT IPNU-IPPNU. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi organisasi memiliki peran signifikan dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai penting, antara lain tanggung jawab, integritas, empati, toleransi, kepemimpinan, dan etika komunikasi. Proses komunikasi yang dibangun bersifat dua arah dan terbuka, baik dalam forum formal seperti rapat maupun dalam interaksi informal sehari-hari, sehingga memudahkan internalisasi nilai moral. Pola komunikasi yang demikian terbukti efektif dalam membentuk karakter mahasiswa agar lebih adaptif, komunikatif, dan beretika. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa organisasi ekstrakurikuler bukan hanya wadah pengembangan minat dan bakat, tetapi juga arena strategis untuk menyiapkan mahasiswa Generasi Z menghadapi tuntutan era digital dengan karakter yang kuat dan etika yang baik. Dengan komunikasi organisasi yang terarah, mahasiswa dapat berkembang menjadi pribadi yang berintegritas, mampu memimpin, serta memiliki keterampilan komunikasi yang relevan dengan kebutuhan masyarakat modern.

Abstract

The canteen at An-Nawawi Modern Islamic Boarding School Bogor plays a crucial role in supporting students' daily activities; however, its current information system is not optimally integrated to handle the growing student population and operational complexity. This study aims to analyze the problems within the canteen's information system to identify priority areas for improvement. The methodology employs a quantitative analysis using the PIECES framework, which evaluates six variables: Performance, Information, Economy, Control, Efficiency, and Service. Data was collected by distributing a questionnaire to respondents via Google Forms. The research findings show that among the six variables, the Control variable obtained the lowest average score (563.4), indicating a significant weakness in the supervision and data security aspects of the current system. Therefore, it is concluded that the main priority for future development should be focused on strengthening the control aspects to create a more secure, reliable, and well-managed canteen information system.

Abstract

Foundations are structural elements that function to bear the load of a building and transfer it to the ground to a certain depth. Foundations must be designed so that the transferred load does not exceed the bearing capacity of the soil, as this can cause excessive settlement and lead to structural collapse. The purpose of this study is to determine the comparison of bearing capacity and settlement of bored pile foundations in the Poltekkes Kemenkes Mataram building using two approaches: the manual method and the Allpile software. The analysis was conducted based on secondary data obtained from the Detailed Engineering Design (DED), results of the Standard Penetration Test (SPT), and laboratory soil test results. The results of the manual Meyerhof method yielded an ultimate bearing capacity of 13,127.79 kN and a single pile settlement of 0.0455 m. The manual Reese and Wright method yielded an ultimate bearing capacity of 2,697.3453 kN and a single pile settlement of 0.0241 m. Meanwhile, the Allpile software calculation yielded an ultimate bearing capacity of 14,391.891 kN and a single pile settlement of 0.0027 m. All settlement values, both for single piles and groups, remain below the maximum permitted limit.
