Abstract

This study seeks to validate the construction of mathematics learning style instruments for junior high school students using the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) method. A total of 127 students from four schools in Central Lombok Regency, Indonesia, participated in this quantitative survey research. The instrument comprises 20 Likert scale statements designed to measure the various dimensions of a student’s mathematics learning style. The feasibility test of the data revealed a Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) value of 0.75, and the results of Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity were significant (p < 0.001), indicating that the data was suitable for analysis using factor analysis. The results of the EFA employing the principal axis factoring and oblimin rotation methods yielded four primary factors: Visual Learning, Auditory Learning, Reading/Writing Style, and Kinesthetic Learning, which aligned with the VARK model. All items exhibited a dominant loading value of ? 0.51, with no significant cross-loading, suggesting a clean and well-defined factor structure. The balanced distribution of variance after rotation, coupled with theoretical suitability, supports the validity of the instrument’s construction. These findings suggest that this instrument is appropriate for use in academic research and educational practice, enabling teachers to design differential learning strategies that cater to students’ learning preferences, thereby enhancing engagement and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in all activities having to be carried out by implementing physical distancing or social distancing in accordance with health protocols for mutual safety. The government encourages people to do more activities at home, including shopping. Consumer perception of purchasing goods online is a process of evaluating various alternatives and choosing one alternative to purchase goods using internet media. The government appealed to the public to take advantage of online shopping to minimize the spread of Covid-19. This indicates that there are factors that influence consumer perceptions of purchasing goods online during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of perceived convenience, perceived benefits, perceived trustworthiness, and product quality on people’s purchasing decisions in Bali using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) approach, Support Vector Regression (SVR), and Feed Forward Neural Network (FFNN). Based on the results of the tests carried out, the SEM-PLS model is able to produce a model with an R2 value of 72.7% with a MAPE of 337.37, an SVR model of 65.88% with a MAPE of 219.56 and a FFNN model of 97.28% with a MAPE of 90.22. Based on the resulting R2 and MAPE values, the FFNN model gives the highest results compared to other models.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the validity of the constructs of student perception instruments using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). A valid measurement of student perception is very important to do, because there are still many instruments in the context of education that do not have adequate construct validity so that they cannot be used to accurately describe student perception. The design of this study was to use a quantitative survey involving 127 high school students in West Lombok, Indonesia. The instrument consists of 20 Likert scale items covering key aspects of school management, including curriculum and learning, teacher leadership and management, student infrastructure and services, and school climate. Analysis using the EFA was conducted to explore the factor structure of students' perceptions, with technical statistical details deliberately minimized to emphasize conceptual clarity. The findings in this study show there are four coherent factors that represent management and leadership, student infrastructure and services, curriculum and learning, and school climate. These factors demonstrate a strong fit with the theory of education management and student-centered evaluation, providing evidence of construct validity for the instrument. Thus, theoretically, this study contributes to the improvement of student perception measurement by offering an empirically based factor structure to evaluate school education management. In practice, it serves as a diagnostic tool for principals and policymakers to identify strengths and areas for improvement in managerial practice, thereby supporting evidence-based decision-making and continuous quality improvement in secondary education.

Abstract

Alumni play a strategic role in strengthening academic networks and research dissemination. However, limited mastery of advanced data analysis remains a major barrier to publication in reputable international journals. This community service program aimed to enhance alumni data analysis capacity through a non-formal continuing education model integrating Participatory Action Research (PAR), Kirkpatrick’s evaluation framework, and hands-on training using R software. The program involved 38 graduate school alumni and was evaluated using the four Kirkpatrick levels. Results show that 68.42% of participants demonstrated high engagement (reaction), while 81.58% perceived strong relevance between training materials and their professional needs. Quantitative evaluation using PLS-SEM indicates that learning significantly influenced behavioral change (R² = 0.217), and behavior had a strong effect on results (R² = 0.399), reflected in increased frequency of R usage, application of advanced analytical techniques, and research collaboration. This program makes a real contribution in providing a structured, measurable, and sustainable model for strengthening alumni capacity, and can be replicated by other universities to improve the quality of publications and the productivity of data-based research.

Abstract

Nowadays, wavelet has been widely applied in extracting features of the signal for automatic speech recognition system. Wavelets have many families that are determined by their mother function and order. The use of different wavelets to analyze the same signal would bring different results. In many cases, a trial and error procedure is used to select the optimal wavelet family. That is because there are no particular wavelet basis functions that can be applied to the entire speech signals. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the similarity between the speech signal and the wavelet base function. One of the methods that can be used is cross-correlation. In this study, the degree of correlation is determined between wavelet base function and Indonesian vowels. The influence of gender and consistencies of the results are also used in the analysis. The results show that db45 and db44 are most similar to male and female vowels utterance, respectively. For consistencies, only vowel e gives a consistent result. Overall, db44 is most similar to all Indonesian vowels utterance.
