Abstract

(Objectives) The coastal area of Karawang Regency, in Cibuaya, has been experiencing abrasion since 2017, causing damage to 177 housing units with different levels of damage. To address this issue, the government needs to implement effective mitigation measures, including providing information. This research aims to understand the role of information literacy in reducing disaster risk in the area. This research is how the ability of BPBD Karawang employees to search, evaluate and create information related to abrasion disaster mitigation in Cibuaya kec. To find out the information literacy skills of BPBD Karawang employees in improving employee information literacy in finding relevant information sources according to employee needs, so that BPBD Karawang employees can provide information and knowledge for the community in the Cibuaya area. (Method) This research uses a qualitative method with a case study type. In this context, the data was used to understand and analyze how BPBD Karawang employees use and create information about abrasion disasters, and how they evaluate the information to ensure relevance and accuracy. (Findings) This research shows that BPBD Karawang employees have good information literacy skills in searching, evaluating and creating information related to abrasion disaster mitigation. However, there are still some obstacles in managing disaster data and disseminating information through the website. Therefore, it is necessary to improve access and human resources to manage information on the website and the Prevention and Preparedness field so that the dissemination of disaster information is more effective and comprehensive.

Abstract

Minat baca masyarakat yang rendah menunjukkan tingkat literasinya juga rendah. Upaya untuk mengatasi minat baca yang rendah adalah dengan penyelenggaraan Taman Bacaan Masyarakat. Tersedianya koleksi bahan bacaan di TBM menjadi komponen penting dalam penyelenggaraan TBM. Tujuan penelitian: untuk mengetahui hubungan koleksi bahan bacaan dengan minat baca pada anak di TBM Bina Kreasi Muda. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan pengambilan sampling menggunakan convenience sampling (n=35). Sedangkan metode analisis data menggunakan Chi-square untuk analisis data nominal. Hasil dan pembahasan: pada α = 0.1 dengan diketahui Chi-square hitung = 5.92 dan df = 2 diperoleh hubungan signifikan antara koleksi berbasis kebutuhan dengan minat baca anak. Diketahui Chi-square hitung = 4.11 dan df = 1 diperoleh hubungan signifikan antara keberagaman koleksi dengan kegemaran membaca pada anak. Diketahui Chi-square hitung = 3.20 dan df = 1 diperoleh hubungan signifikan antara ketersediaan koleksi fiksi dengan inisiatif membaca pada anak. Diketahui Chi-square hitung = 3.47 dan df = 1 diperoleh hubungan signifikan antara . ketertarikan anak pada koleksi dengan penggunaan gadget. Diketahui Chi-square hitung = 2.19 dan df = 1 diperoleh hubungan non-signifikan antara koleksi bahan bacaan dengan frekuensi membaca anak. Kesimpulan: menyediakan koleksi beragam sesuai kebutuhan anak seperti koleksi fiksi dapat mempengaruhi inisiatif dan minat baca sehingga tumbuh kegemaran membaca dalam diri anak.

Abstract

 Menulis merupakan keterampilan yang penting bagi mahasiswa, tetapi bagi sebagian mahasiswa menulis bukanlah hal mudah. Melalui Program Literasi 2023, Himaka Fikom Unpad menyelenggarakan “Workshop Penulisan Esai” bagi mahasiswa Program Studi Perpustakaan dan Sains Informasi Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Padjadjaran Kelas 2023. Kami menyambut baik program tersebut dan mengintegrasikannya dalam Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat kami. Workshop Penulisan Esai ini bertujuan memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada mahasiswa agar mampu menuangkan segala pengetahuan dan kreativitasnya dalam bentuk tulisan, terutama di dalam memenuhi tugas-tugas perkuliahan. Materi workshop mencakup pengertian dan tujuan penulisan esai, jenis-jenis esai, langkah-langkah menulis esai dan struktur penulisan esai.  Workshop Penulisan Esai ini diselenggarakan pada 7 Oktober 2023 di Kampus Fikom Unpad. Peserta workshop adalah mahasiswa Kelas 2023 berjumlah 83 orang. Berdasarkan hasil pretest, posttest dan latihan menulis esai, dapat disimpulkan bahwa workshop ini telah dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam menulis esai.

Abstract

This research is based on the results of observations of working time in the Packaging Materials (PM) section of a nutritional beverage company which indicates idle time has a negative impact on company productivity. The research objective is to calculate and streamline the workload with the optimal number of workers in the PM section. The research method used is time and motion study with work load analysis based on lean concepts. A total of 30 samples were taken using simple random sampling method. Data were analyzed using a descriptive workload analysis method. The results showed that the existing workload of PM feeder operators had a workload of 82.92%, assistant feeder PM operators had a workload of 60.16%, and RMPM driver operators had a workload of 57.27%. In addition, the optimal number of workers in the packaging material preparation process is 2 people. Finally, improvements are proposed using a lean concept approach in allocating main and additional work elements to operators in the packaging material preparation process.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses transfer pengetahuan yang ada di Perpustakaan Kementerian Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif yang diperoleh dari hasil wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Pendekatan studi kasus yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat kejadian sebenarnya dari aktivitas pustakawan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa proses sosialisasi di Perpustakaan Kemenkumham terjadi melalui diskusi pustakawan dan pimpinan. Proses eksternalisasi dilakukan melalui kegiatan pustakawan yang dituangkan ke dalam bentuk baru. Proses kombinasi dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan, mentransfer atau menyebarkan, dan mengolah informasi maupun pengetahuan yang diperoleh dari tahap eksternalisasi ke dalam laporan tahunan. Proses internalisasi di Perpustakaan Kemenkumham belum optimal dilakukan dikarenakan pustakawan masih berfokus pada kegiatan pengolahan perpustakaan. Namun dalam hal ini, dokumen laporan tersebut dapat menjadi pengetahuan baru bagi pustakawan maupun organisasi. Hambatan yang ada di Perpustakaan Kementerian Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia yaitu pada sumber daya manusia dan anggaran untuk kegiatan perpustakaan seperti workshop maupun pelatihan yang dapat menjadi media promosi perpustakaan. Transfer pengetahuan di Perpustakaan Kementerian Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia dilakukan melalui sosialisasi, eksternalisasi, kombinasi, dan internalisasi.ABSTRACTThis paper aims to know how the knowledge transfer process runs in the Library of Ministry of Law and Human Rights. The method used in this paper is qualitative research were taken through interviews, observation and documentation studies. A case study approach is used on this paper by seeing reality from librarian activites. The results of this paper indicate that socialization in the Kemenkumham Library occurs through discussion of librarians and the leaders. Externalization is carried out through librarian activities which are poured into new forms. Combination is done by collecting, transferring or disseminating, and processing information and knowledge obtained from the externalization stage into the annual report. Internalization has not yet been optimized because librarians are still focusing on library processing activities. Moreover, the report documents can become new knowledges for librarians and organizations. The existing obstacles in knowledge transfer process in Kemenkumham Library are in human resources and the budget for library activities such as holding workshops and training activities that can be a media for library promotion. Knowledge Transfer  in the Library of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights are carried out through a process of socialization, externalization, combination, and internalization. Abstract

This article discusses the waste management strategy for the Air Dingin River Basin (DAS) in Koto Tangah district, Padang City, using a Community-Based Development Approach.This research is motivated by lack of public awareness regarding environmental proctection particularly regarding waste management. This is evident in the habit of people directly disposing of waste into the river or piling it on the banks of the Air Dingin River Basin in Balai Gadang and Batang Kabung Villages, Koto Tangah District. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of waste, waste management strategies, and formulate appropriate policies for waste management using a community-based development approach. The research findings indicate that residents living along the banks of the Air Dingin River Basin (DAS) in Koto Tangah District, Padang City, generally dispose of waste directly into the river without prior waste separation. The waste characteristics include garbage, street sweeping, dead animals, and household refuse.

Abstract

Southeast Asia is a global hotspot for natural disasters, where escalating frequency and severity, amplified by climate change, continuously test national and local resilience. This comprehensive review synthesizes and expands upon existing systematic analyses of disaster management in the region, offering a deep-dive exploration of persistent challenges. Building on a foundational systematic review that identified key literature (Samad et al., 2025), this article moves beyond simple identification to provide a deep, integrative discussion of the critical obstacles hindering effective disaster risk reduction (DRR). We analyze eight major thematic challenges: (1) inadequate preparedness, (2) inefficient response mechanisms, (3) deep-seated socio-economic vulnerabilities, (4) gaps in public education and risk perception, (5) fragile and exposed infrastructure, (6) economic constraints and resource misallocation, (7) fragmented government policies and governance, and (8) the complex role of local beliefs and culture. This review synthesizes findings from across the region, drawing on key studies from Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and others. The analysis underscores the profound interconnectedness of these challenges, arguing that single-domain solutions are insufficient. The findings form the basis for a robust discussion on integrated policy-making, strategic investment, and community-centric approaches, concluding with actionable recommendations for scholars and practitioners to foster a more sustainable and resilient future for the region.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of school principals' leadership styles and teacher performance on the quality of elementary schools in Kutawaluya District, Karawang Regency. Employing a quantitative approach with a survey method and a causal-associative research design, data were collected through questionnaires administered to 104 respondents, consisting of principals and teachers. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that the principal’s leadership style significantly influences school quality, with a beta coefficient of 0.458 (p = 0.000), while teacher performance also demonstrates a significant effect, with a beta coefficient of 0.371 (p = 0.001). Simultaneously, both variables contribute 61.7% (p = 0.000) to the variance in school quality. These results confirm that transformative school leadership and optimal teacher performance are two strategic elements in improving the quality of basic education, particularly in resource-constrained areas. The study also emphasizes the need for a contextual leadership approach and continuous professional development of teachers as sustainable efforts to enhance school quality. The theoretical contribution of this research lies in the integration of social systems theory and transformational leadership theory to comprehensively understand the dynamics of quality improvement in elementary education within a rural context.

Abstract

Speaking skills are one of the keys to a smooth life. Through speaking, people can quickly obtain the information they need, both near and far. These skills include reading, listening, speaking, and writing. This research aims to improve the quality of English learning at SMPN 1 Ranah Pesisir, especially students' speaking skills. This classroom action research is a comparative descriptive research, which describes the comparison of the learning process in the initial conditions, actions, and final conditions after the actions. This research was conducted in two cycles, namely Cycle I and Cycle II. The difference between the two cycles lies in the theme of the pictures used according to the learning material. The results of the study indicate that the use of picture media can improve students' ability to speak English. Interesting picture media also motivates students in class learning, students become interested in speaking English with their partners. They are not afraid to make mistakes in speaking English, and this makes them braver to speak in front of other friends or in front of the class. Of course, this is very positive in growing their confidence in mastering English speaking skills.

Abstract

This study examines the reconstruction of the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers as a response to the modern adolescent moral crisis, which is characterized by value disorientation due to the dominance of digital technology and popular culture. Using a qualitative approach based on library research framed within the perspective of Sociology of Ereignis, this research explores academic literature to dissect the ontological dynamics of teaching practices, digital ethical challenges, and the necessity for educator role transformation in the 21st century. Data were collected through document reviews and scholarly text analysis, then analyzed to construct a relevant teacher role model. The findings reveal that the current adolescent moral crisis is not merely behavioral delinquency, but a consequence of value alienation within virtual spaces. Therefore, religious teachers must transform from mere transmitters of theological content into "meaning makers," functioning as value facilitators, authentic moral exemplars, and digital moral counselors. The proposed reconstruction strategies include dilemma-based case learning, personal mentoring, and digital ethics literacy. This study asserts that adaptive, humanistic, and contextual religious education is an absolute foundation for safeguarding the character of the young generation in the era of disruption.
