Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the AIR (Auditory, Intellectually Repetition) learning model in enhancing students' cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning outcomes. The research employs an experimental approach using a pre-test and post-test design on selected student groups. Test results analyzed through the SPSS application indicate a significant improvement in learning outcomes before and after implementing the AIR model, with a significance value below 0.05. These findings suggest that the AIR model effectively enhances student learning. Additionally, an improvement in the psychomotor aspect was observed, as students demonstrated greater engagement when using the AIR model compared to traditional methods. Similarly, the affective aspect showed progress, as students exhibited responsibility in group settings by actively responding to teachers' questions. This reinforces the effectiveness of the AIR model in improving learning outcomes across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. However, students with a kinesthetic learning style may not fully benefit from this approach, necessitating adjustments to accommodate their needs. This research is expected to contribute to the development of learning strategies that align with educational objectives across different levels

Abstract

The Role of Social Studies Education towards Students’ Readiness in Facing Globalization: Social Skills as Moderating Factor. Objective: This study aims to determine the role of social studies education in students' readiness to face globalization through social skills. Methods: This study used a quantitative approach, utilizing data from 40 junior high school students.   Data was collected through a questionnaire using Google Forms on the role of social studies education in preparing students to face globalization through social skills. The data was analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling -Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) statistical testing method to construct four latent variables: social studies learning, social skills, globalization readiness, and attitudes toward adversity and globalization. Findings: SEM analysis indicates that Social Education directly influences social skills. Conversely, social skills directly impact preparation and attitudes toward difficulties and globalization. Social skills modulate the learning of Social Studies regarding attitudes towards difficulties and globalization, but do not influence the readiness for facing globalization in Social Studies learning. Conclusion: This study implies that globalization significantly influences social studies education, necessitating the cultivation of new social skills and competencies to equip students and instructors for a globally interconnected environment. This include promoting critical thinking, cultural understanding, and adaptation to manage the intricacies of global integration. Keywords: social sciences, social skills, education, globalization.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i3.2024136

Abstract

This study aims to develop Augmented Reality integrated handouts to strengthen the independent character of junior high school students on the material of the relics of Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms in Indonesia. The research used the Research and Development method with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) carried out at SMPN 1 and SMPN 2 Mojowarno, Jombang Regency. The research instruments included material and media expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires for practicality testing, observation sheets and independent character questionnaires to measure product effectiveness. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques for validity and practicality with score interpretation criteria, while the effectiveness of strengthening independent character was analyzed using the N-gain test comparing the results of initial and final measurements in the experimental class. The validation results by material experts, media experts, and practitioners showed that the product validity level reached 94.5% which was included in the very valid category. The practicality test obtained a score of 97% in the initial test and 98% in the large-scale implementation of 60 students, both in the very practical category. Measurement of independent character showed a significant increase in both experimental classes with N-gain values reaching 0.92 and 0.90 which were categorized as very independent. This study proves that the Augmented Reality integrated handout effectively strengthens students' independent character while improving understanding of the material of the relics of Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms. This learning media offers an innovative solution that is aligned with the objectives of the Merdeka Curriculum and the Pancasila Student Profile, especially in fostering student independence through the use of digital technology.
