Abstract

This study aims to measure the technical efficiency and identify factors that cause technical inefficiency of Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (BAZNAS) in managing zakat funds on receipt and the distribution of zakat funds. The data used were time series data from 2002 to2016. The input variables used were total assets and operational costs, while the output variables were the receipt of zakat funds and the distribution of zakat funds. Using stochastic frontier analysis, this study has successfully identified that total assets and operational costs had a positive and significant effect on the receipt of zakat funds. The same results also demonstrated that the operational costs for the distribution of zakat funds had a positive and significant effect. The results for total assets on distribution of zakat funds were positive but not significant. Overall, the technical efficiency regarding the receipt of BAZNAS zakat funds was found to be 94.98 percent, which means that there is 5.02 percent remaining that could still be optimized, while technical efficiency regarding the distribution of BAZNAS zakat funds was found to be 70.99 percent, leaving 29.01 percent that could still be optimized. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to identify and analyze the determinants of liquidity risk in Islamic and conventional banking in Indonesia before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses a panel data approach to examine the relationship between liquidity risk with bank-specific and macroeconomic factors before and during the COVID-19 pandemic (2018-2021). By taking samples from 10 Islamic banks and 20 conventional banks operating in Indonesia, this study found that bank-specific factors consist of Capital Adequacy ratio (CAR), Return on Equity (ROE), and Non-Performing loans (NPL) or credit risk affect the liquidity of Syariah banking. While CAR and NPL have no significant effect on conventional bank liquidity, other bank-specific factors, namely ROE, have a considerable effect on the liquidity risk of conventional banking. Meanwhile, macroeconomic factors (GDP growth and inflation) did not affect the liquidity risk of the two banks. Meanwhile, the dummy variable shows no significant effect on liquidity risk in Islamic and conventional banks related to pandemic conditions. Thus, this research is expected to facilitate bankers in making decisions to improve the quality of liquidity management in the two banking systems. Abstract

The purpose of this article is to look at the long-term and short-term relationships between macroeconomic variables, namely the exchange rate, inflation and IPI to third party funds with Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia. This article uses quantitative research methods, the data used is secondary data with the time series type from January 2014-December 2018, the analytical tool used is VECM, which is a form of VAR detected. Before the final results are obtained, there are several analyzes that must be performed before testing the VECM, namely the stationarity test, the optimal lag test, the cointegration test, the VECM estimate, and finally the impulse response function test. Based on the results of the analysis performed, the results show that for both long and short term exchange rate variables affect deposits, the inflation variable in this investigation period does not affect deposits and the IPI variable has a long term relationship with deposits, while in the short term has no relationship with third party funds. This article contributes to the effect of both long and short term macroeconomic variables on the interest of customers in depositing money with Islamic banks to be used as third party funds with Islamic banks.
