Abstract

Wildlife Reserve is a nature reserve forest that is designed as a place for wildlife that has distinctive value and beneficial for science and culture, also a source of national wealth and pride. This research was conducted to find out the use of traditional medicinal plants in Kerumutan Wildlife Reserve and approach the surrounding community. The type of data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The population in this study were all communities around the Wildlife Reserve area. This research used purposive sampling, with research procedures namely interviews and observations. Observations were made using 1 observation track, located in natural forest. The track has long 1.5 km, which has 30 observation plots sized 5 m x 5 m. The distance between the plots was 30 m from the first plot to the next plot. The results showed there were 27 species with 19 families of medicinal plants that could be used and processed into medicines in the Kerumutan Wildlife Reserve forest area. Different uses and processing of plant species can produce medicines that can treat diseases suffered by the community. Medicinal plants were most widely used by the community as a febrifuge and abdominal pain.

Abstract

Bukit Cadika Pine Forest Bangkinang is one of the pine forests in Bangkinang Riau. Pine is a type of tree that is classified as a fast-growing type and does not require special requirements in its planting, so pine can spread naturally to areas south of the equator. The existence of understory plants can also function as soil protectors from rain grains and surface flow and play a role in increasing organic matter in the soil. This study aims to determine the diversity of understory plant species in Bukit Cadika Pine Forest stands Bangkinang. Data collection methods and lower plant samples were carried out in pine stands through direct field observations using the path/transect method. The placement of paths in this study was carried out using purposive sampling technique with a total of 5 paths made and a distance of 1 m between paths with a path length of 100 m. The data obtained in the field were analyzed using the data collection method. Data obtained in the field were analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index, species evenness index and important value index. The conclusion in this study found as many as 13 species with a total of 201 individuals and 12 families that were successfully identified and the species diversity index in Bukit Cadika pine forest stands amounted to 2.18 which is included in the moderate category.

Abstract

The existence of urban forests should be referred to as a place to preserve the environment, seeing from the start of the density of settlements that cause less and less space as a place to preserve the environment. The Bungin Island City Forest area in Koto Teluk Kuantan Village is one of the potential tourist destination objects to be offered when tourists visit Jalur City. The aim of this research was to examine the structure and composition of the stands in the Bungin Island City Forest, located in Kuantan Singingi Regency. The research method used systematic sampling method by collecting data directly at the research location. Variables observed were the number of individuals, diameter and height of trees. Vegetation data collection was carried out using the creation of a square plot unit measuring 20 m x 20 m with the determination of the plot location using systematic sampling with random start, namely taking sample plots systematically and randomly started. The data that has been obtained is analyzed descriptively quantitative which is done to obtain a clear picture of the state of the urban forest. The results of the study obtained 23 plant species in the urban forest of Bungin Island with the highest importance value index (INP) is duku plant with a value of 47,10 at the tree level, which means that this plant is the dominant species in the urban forest of Bungin Island. The conclusion of this study shows that the urban forest of Bungin Island is composed of 23 species grouped in 20 families and the composition of the stand is composed of 228 plants with the highest canopy statification in stratum C (subcanopy) followed by stratum B (canopy), stratum D (understory) and stratum A (emergent).

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the sustainability level of management of the Kepau Jaya Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK) in Kampar Regency, Riau Province, based on four main dimensions: ecological, economic, socio-cultural, and legal and institutional. The analytical method used was Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) with the Rap-SPFA tool, which was modified to assess multidimensional sustainability status. The analysis was conducted by measuring the sustainability index of each dimension using a scale of 0-100. The results showed that the overall level of sustainability was in the less sustainable category with an index of 49.56. The ecological, economic, and legal and institutional dimensions are the main focus in management, while the socio-cultural dimension is in the moderately sustainable category with an index of 68.03. The proposed sustainable management strategies include ecosystem-based zoning, utilization of non-timber forest products (NTFPs), increased community involvement, and institutional strengthening through inter-stakeholder synergies. Improving infrastructure, NTFP-based economic development, and community education are prioritized in an effort to support more effective management. The implementation of this strategy is expected to improve the sustainability of Kepau Jaya KHDTK management while improving the welfare of the surrounding community
