Abstract

The Islamic higher educations have an important role in producing the qualified graduates. Therefore, the organization of the Islamic higher educations must be coupled with the quality of learning services. Some institutes and universities are optimizing their learning services, while the others tend to choose different service patterns since there is no standard instrument of the quality of the learning service. This research was conducted to develop an assessment instrument model to measure the learning services in Islamic higher education. This research applied a research and development approach through three stages, namely: pre-development, development, and application of the model. The development of the instrument was done through individual, small group, and large group testing through field tests involving students of Islamic higher education. The instrument model includes the aspects of tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, empathy, and assurance along with the indicators, which is, analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis. The findings of the research shows that learning assessment instrument model of Islamic higher education developed by integrating some aspects categorized as goodness of fit, which is, proved by Lambda score (λ)> 0,30, ρ-score (p)> 0, 05, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) <0.08, and Goodness of Fit Index (GFI> 0.90). The developed instrument has high validity, while the aspects of learning services meet the requirements and are reliably to assess learning services at Islamic Higher Education

Abstract

Being religious person is absolute for everyone, including the students of Islamic University. That’s why PTKI (Islamic University) does some efforts to strengthen the student’s religiousness. This research is intended to assess the quality of Islamic Education learning and the religiousness of PTKI students and also to observe the implication of this study to student’s religiousness. All students from selected Islamic University in East Kalimantan were taken as the population, and 374 students were chosen as the sample by multistage sampling technique. The technique of dominant data collection was done by doing the survey. The data analysis technique is descriptive analysis and inferential linear regression, through calibration test (validity and reliability), requirement analysis test, normality test, homogenic test, and linearity test. The result of the research has shown that the learning of Islamic Education in Islamic University in East Kalimantan is done well (µ= 4,17). The learning process of Islamic Education in Islamic University has significant influence to student’s religiousness. The learning process of Islamic Education in Islamic University has contributed 54,6% to the increasing of student’s religiousness, while the rest of 45,4% is influenced by other factors. The student’s religiousness in aqeeda aspect is greater than shari’a/muamalah and morals.

Abstract

The education sector is currently entering an era of modernization, marked by numerous innovations in the learning process. One aspect of modernization in education is the emergence of various types of media used throughout the learning process. From the meeting mechanisms, lesson planning, to the learning materials—everything can now be facilitated by media and technology. This study aims to develop a series of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning applications for vocational schools, specifically at SMK Negeri 2 Sebulu. It focuses on the development of Android-based learning media for Islamic Religious Education in vocational high schools and evaluates its feasibility for use. The research method is based on product development using the Borg and Gall model. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The data collected from the questionnaires were analyzed by converting the average score results into percentages. The main subjects in this study were 10th-grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Sebulu. The research findings, based on data validation results, show that media experts provided scores of 87% and 80%, both indicating that the media is feasible for use. Meanwhile, the material evaluation received a score of 86%, also indicating that the media is suitable for use in the Islamic Religious Education learning process.

Abstract

Pesantren has a significant influence on the development of santris’ personality and cultural tolerance. However, the flow of globalization through digital media and the influence of foreign cultures shake santris' preferences and threatened local wisdom. This paper aims to analyze the integration between local policies in halaqah knowledge acquisition and its advancement of the cultural tolerance of santri. With an interpretive research paradigm, this study employs the case study method and focuses on several Pesantrens in Benua Etam, East Kalimantan. The data were obtained through interviews with informants, including pesantren leaders, ustadz, and santri and observations, and documentation. Validation techniques include source triangulation, member checking, trail auditing, and peer debriefing. This study reveals that the incorporation of indigenous knowledge within the framework of halaqah was a significant factor in the study's outcomes, significantly increasing the tolerance of santris, as reflected by a 50.92% increase in participation in local traditions and higher acceptance of cultural diversity. Santri who follow culture-based halaqahs demonstrate openness, recognition of community traditions, and the ability to bridge cultural differences without compromising Islamic principles. This study concludes that the culturally based halaqah model is effective in maintaining an inclusive Islamic identity while facing the challenges of globalization.

Abstract

Tilawah Al-Qur’an adalah membaca Al-Qur’an dengan bacaan yang menjelaskan huruf-hurufnya serta berhati-hati dalam melafalkan bacaannya, agar lebih mudah memahami mekna yang terkandung di dalamnya. Pada kegtan tilawah ini lebih kepada murottal Al-Qur’an, sehingga dengan adanya kegiatan Tilawah Al-Qur’an memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk dapat mengetahui kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an. Selain itu, siswa dapat melafalkan ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an sesuai dengan makharijul huruf dan mengetahui hukum-hukum tajwid. Adapun rumusan masalah pada penelitan ini adalah bagaimana pelaksanaan kegiatan tilawah Al-Qur’an terhadap kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an siswa? Untuk menjawab rumusan masalah tersebut digunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskrptif analisis. Adapun data diambil melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa pelaksanaan tilawah Al-Qur’an di MTsN 2 Kecamatan Lubuk Pakam Kabupaten Deli Serdang dapat dikatakan baik, dan tilawah ini terfokus pada kemampuan menghafal siswa. Terdapat juga faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam pelaksanaan tilawah dan adanya buku pedoman sebagai pegangan wajib siswa agar target yang ditentukan tercapai.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to investigate the implementation of religious character values among students and to identify internalisation models that can enhance students’ morale. Employing qualitative methods, the study adopted a phenomenological approach to comprehensively understand the process of internalising religious character values in an educational setting. This study was conducted across two senior high schools and one vocational high school in East Kalimantan Province. Moreover, data were gathered through extensive interviews, observations, and documentation, then analysed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed various efforts to instil students' religious character values, such as instilling theoretical knowledge about spiritual values, organising religious activities, fostering a religious culture in schools, integrating religious values in various disciplines, and maintaining continuous supervision. The model utilised for internalising religious character values was the structural-organic-reflective-integrative model. This model offers a comprehensive approach to enhancing students' moral development by embedding religious principles into every aspect of education. While this study has contributed to the discussion, some limitations and suggestions for future research were provided.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi implementasi nilai-nilai karakter religius di kalangan siswa dan mengidentifikasi model internalisasi yang dapat meningkatkan moral siswa. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, studi ini mengadopsi pendekatan fenomenologis untuk memahami secara komprehensif proses internalisasi nilai-nilai karakter religius dalam konteks pendidikan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di dua sekolah menengah atas dan satu sekolah menengah kejuruan di Provinsi Kalimantan Timur. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi, yang kemudian dianalisis melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan berbagai upaya untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai karakter religius siswa, seperti memberikan pengetahuan teoritis tentang nilai-nilai spiritual, mengorganisir kegiatan keagamaan, membina budaya keagamaan di sekolah, mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai keagamaan dalam berbagai disiplin, dan menjaga pengawasan yang berkelanjutan. Selanjutnya, model internalisasi nilai-nilai karakter religius yang diterapkan adalah model struktural-organik-reflektif-integratif. Model ini menawarkan pendekatan komprehensif untuk meningkatkan perkembangan moral siswa dengan menyelipkan prinsip-prinsip keagamaan ke dalam setiap aspek pendidikan. Abstract

This study aimed to develop and test an assessment model for Islamic moderation understanding of Islamic higher education (PTKI) students. The assessment model was developed based on the dimensions of Islamic moderation understanding which includes the dimensions of conceptual understanding, functional understanding, and procedural understanding. The subjects were students of Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris State Islamic University Samarinda, Tarbiyah College Balikpapan, and Islamic College Sangatta, with a total of 224 students. The data collection instrument used was a test instrument. The data obtained were then analyzed using the Confirmatory Factor Analysis technique with the LISREL 8.51 program. The results of the data analysis show that the assessment model developed for Islamic Moderation understanding of PTKI students has very good validity and reliability. All item items have a factor loading value of > 0.3 and the assessment model has a Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) > 0.90. Thus, the assessment model for Islamic moderation understanding is very appropriate to be used as a reference for further research because theoretically, it is in accordance with empirical data obtained from subjects in the field.

Abstract

This research is motivated by several factors that can affect the character of students, including the school environment, and the learning of Islamic Religious Education. Where the character of school students at this time experiencing deterioration with the occurrence of delinquency-delinquency, crime, violence and disorder in the community. Through the school environment and learning Islamic Religious Education can affect the formation of character in students. The purpose of the study was whether there is an influence of the school environment on the character of students, whether there is an influence of Islamic Religious Education Learning on the character of students, and whether there is simultaneously the influence of the school environment, and Islamic Religious Education Learning on the formation of the character of students in Bontang State High School. This type of research is a quantitative research with data collection techniques in the form of observation, questionnaires, and interviews. Data analysis techniques used are multiple linear regression analysis and hypothesis testing (T test and F test). The population is all 11th grade students of SMA Negeri Bontang totaling 694 students. Sampling technique with purposive sampling of 87 students. The results showed positive based on the positive questions asked makes children positive that there is an influence of the school environment on the formation of student character with a regression coefficient value of 0.611 with T table 1.989 < 3.780 t calculate so that Ha is accepted, there is an influence of Islamic Education Learning on the formation of student character with a regression coefficient value of 0.564 with T table 1.989 < 3.824 t calculate so that Ha is accepted, simultaneously there is the influence of the school environment and learning of Islamic Religious Education on the formation of student character by 0.686 with the value of F Table 3.105 < 37.380 F count so that Ha is accepted.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to describe the implementation of noble value assessments in shaping the religious character of 10th-grade students at SMK Negeri 2 Samarinda. Method: Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Results: The findings reveal that religious character assessment is conducted using instruments such as daily journals, attitude assessment rubrics, and student reflections. The main assessed indicators include honesty, responsibility, and discipline in worship. Although the implementation has shown positive results, there are several challenges, including limited instruments, inadequate teacher training, and an inconsistent school culture. The study concludes that noble value assessment is effective in forming religious character when conducted systematically and supported by all school components. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in its practical analysis of noble value assessments as a means of shaping religious character within a vocational high school context—a setting rarely explored in moral education research. By focusing on specific instruments like journals, rubrics, and reflections, and highlighting key indicators such as honesty, responsibility, and worship discipline, the study moves beyond theoretical discourse to reveal concrete implementation practices. It also addresses systemic challenges, offering a contextualized insight into how value-based assessment can function effectively when integrated into the fabric of school life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse how the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model can address existing barriers and improve the quality of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) curriculum amid globalisation challenges that cause moral degradation among younger generations. This research employs a library research method using content analysis to review scholarly literature from Scopus and other databases systematically. The CIPP evaluation framework developed by Stufflebeam was utilised to synthesise findings on curriculum evaluation in Islamic education contexts. The review reveals three key findings. First, context evaluation shows that successful IRE curricula must align educational objectives with national standards (UU Sisdiknas No. 20/2003) and Islamic educational philosophy while addressing contemporary moral challenges. Second, input and process evaluation identifies critical implementation factors, including teacher pedagogical competencies, student learning readiness, resource adequacy, and effectiveness of innovative strategies such as Project-Based Learning and cooperative learning. Third, product evaluation confirms that comprehensive outcome assessment must encompass cognitive achievement, character development, and religious competencies to fully measure curriculum effectiveness. This study is limited to literature-based analysis and requires empirical validation across diverse Indonesian Islamic educational settings. This research contributes by providing a systematic synthesis of CIPP model applications in IRE curriculum evaluation, offering practical recommendations for educators and policymakers to develop more effective, responsive Islamic education curricula that address contemporary challenges while maintaining Islamic educational principles.
