Abstract

This research is based on the results of a preliminary study conducted by the researcher at SMP Negeri 2 Lotu, which found several problems, namely (1) the low numeracy literacy skills of students, due to the lack of variation in the learning models used by teachers, and (2) the low interest in learning mathematics among students. The purpose of this study is to determine: (1) the effect of the project based learning model on students' numeracy literacy, and (2) the effect of the project based learning model on students' interest in learning mathematics. This research is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study was all seventh-grade students, and the sample consisted of two classes: class VII-A as the experimental class and VII-B as the control class. The research instruments used were tests and questionnaires. The results of the study showed that: (1) The numeracy literacy result obtained a thitung value of 9.849 and ttabel value of 2.017, because thitung ttabel, H₀ is rejected and H₁ is accepted. (2) The result for students’ learning interest obtained a thitung value of 20.753 and ttabel value of 2.017, because thitung ttabel, H₀ is rejected and H₁ is accepted. It can be concluded that: (1) The project based learning model had a significant effect on students’numeracy literacy. This is shown by the post-test average score of the experimental group being 78 (high category), which is higher than the control group’s score of 63,56 (moderate category). (2) The project based learning model also had a significant effect on students’ interest in learning mathematics. The average score of the learning interest questionnaire in the experimental group reached 89,40 (very high category), while the control group only reached 55,78 (moderate category).

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of ability of prospective mathematics teachers in utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in mathematics learning. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is the most important thing in keeping up with current technological advances. The aim of carrying out this research is to determine the competence of prospective mathematics teachers in using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in mathematics learning. This type of research is quantitative research with a descriptive approach. This was done to test how much prospective mathematics teachers have competence in utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in mathematics learning if they already become teachers. The research instruments used were questionnaires and structured interview questions consisting of several closed and open questions. The number of respondents who participated was 48 people from the Mathematics Education Study Program. Research results: the majority of prospective students in mathematics education study programs have basic knowledge of ICT and are familiar with the types of use of ICT in mathematics learning, as well as providing positive views/opinions towards the use of Information and Communication Technology in mathematics learning. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh minimnya kemampuan calon guru matematika dalam pemanfaatan Information and Communication Technology (ICT) pada pembelajaran matematika. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) merupakan hal yang paling utama dalam mengikuti kemajuan teknologi pada saat ini. Tujuan pelaksanaan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui kompetensi calon guru matematika dalam pemanfaatan Information And Communication Technology (ICT) dalam pembelajaran matematika. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Hal ini dilakukan untuk menguji seberapa besar calon guru matematika memiliki kompetensi dalam memanfaatkan Information and Communication Technology (ICT) dalam pembelajaran matematika jika sudah menjadi guru. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah angket (kuesioner) dan pertanyaan wawancara terstruktur yang terdiri dari beberapa pertanyaan bersifat tertutup dan terbuka. Jumlah responden yang berpartisipasi sebanyak 48 orang dari Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika. Hasil penelitian: sebagain besar mahasiswa/i calon guru program studi pendidikan matematika memiliki pengetahuan dasar terhadap ICT dan mengenal tentang jenis-jenis penggunaan ICT dalam pembelajaran matematika, serta memberikan pandangan/pendapat yang positif terhadap penggunaan Information and Communication Technology dalam pembelajaran matematika.

Abstract

This article investigates the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) as a pedagogical strategy to cultivate critical thinking skills among junior high school students. Utilizing a qualitative research design, the study synthesizes insights from recent research and theoretical frameworks published within the last five years, employing classroom observations, interviews, document analysis, and focus groups to gather comprehensive data. The analysis highlights PBL's effectiveness in fostering critical thinking through student-centered, inquiry-based learning processes, emphasizing improvements in analytical reasoning, problem-solving abilities, and collaborative communication. Key findings reveal that while PBL significantly enhances these skills, successful implementation is contingent upon addressing challenges related to teacher preparedness, time constraints, uneven student participation, and resource limitations. Strategies such as targeted professional development for teachers, structured scaffolding for students, and leveraging technology are discussed as potential solutions. The article concludes with recommendations for educators and policymakers, advocating for systemic changes to support widespread adoption of PBL and promote a shift towards more engaging, student-centered learning environments. This research contributes to the ongoing dialogue on innovative teaching practices that equip students with the essential skills needed for success in the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to present information and also find out about students' problem-solving skills using Problem Based Learning methods and methods conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli Selatan. The design of this study used the Quasi-Experimental method with the pretest-posttest control group design method. The sample for this study was about 40 respondents, of which 20 students were in class I or experiment I. Meanwhile, 20 students were in class 2 or experiment II. From the research results obtained, the results of the t test were obtained with a calculated t value which had a value of 4,977. Meanwhile, the t table value at α is 0.05 and dk: 38 has a value of 1.6860. Thus t count has a greater value than t table, namely 4,977 ˃ 1,686). With this result, H0 is rejected and the H1 hypothesis is accepted. From these results it was found that there were significant results between students' problem solving abilities towards problem solving by applying the problem based learning learning model.

Abstract

Penelitian ini didasari oleh hasil analisis masalah dalam pembelajaran matematika yang telah dilaksanakan di Sekolah Menengah Agama Kristen (SMAK) Mekar Lauri, dimana ditemukan permasalahan, yaitu: 1) rendahnya kemampuan literasi matematika siswa dan 2) rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui taraf kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa, 2) mengetahui taraf penguasaan literasi matematika siswa, serta 3) mengetahui apakah terdapat  korelasi antara penguasaan literasi matematika dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan teknik korelasi. Pengumplan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan angket dan tes. Angket digunakan untuk memperoleh data penguasaan literasi matematika siswa dan tes diberikan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Selanjutnya data yang telah diperoleh akan dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, uji linearitas dan uji hipotesis. Dilihat dari hasil eksplorasi terlihat bahwa: 1) kemampuan literasi matematika siswa berada pada klasifikasi sedang dengan presentasi sebesar 88%, 2) kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa berada pada kelas tinggi dengan total menunjukkan sebesar 92% dan 3) terdapat korelasi positif antara penguasaan literasi matematika dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan menggunakan korelasi Pearson bernilai 0,668 sehingga terdapat korelasi kuat. Oleh sebab itu, bisa disimpulkan tolak  serta terima  yang berarti “terdapat korelasi antara penguasaan literasi matematika dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis”.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of mathematical literacy skills on the learning outcomes of Santu Xaverius Gunungsitoli Private High School students. This research uses a type of quantitative experimental research using a one group pretest-posttest design. The object of this research is class X of Santu Xaverius Gunungsitoli Private High School. Data collection techniques use tests. The research instrument uses a pretest-posttest test. The data analysis technique uses the Independent Samples Test, which consists of the Kolmogorov-Smirnova normality test and homogeneity test. Based on the results of the research, analysis and discussion obtained from the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, in the experimental class posttest a significance value was obtained of 0.185 > 0.005 and in the control class posttest a significance value was obtained of 0.230> 0.005 while in the homogeneity test the significance value was obtained (sig 2- tailed) of 0.666> 0.05, which means the data is normally distributed. Meanwhile, in the Independent Samples Test, a significance (sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05 was obtained, which means that there is an influence of mathematical literacy ability on the learning outcomes of Santu Xaverius Private High School students. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh kemampuan literasi matematika terhadap hasil belajar siswa SMA Swasta Santu Xaverius Gunungsitoli. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif eksperimen dengan menggunakan bentuk one group preteest-posttest design. Objek penelitian ini adalah kelas X SMA Swasta Santu Xaverius Gunungsitoli. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes. Intrumen penelitian menggunakan tes pretest-posttest. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji Independent Samples Test, yang terdiiri dari uji normalitas Kolmogorov-Smirnova dan uji homogenitas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, analisis dan pembahasan didapatkan dari uji normalitas Kolmogorov-Smirnov, pada Posstest kelas eksperimen diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,185 > 0,005 dan pada posstest kelas kontrol diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,230> 0,005 sedangkan pada uji homogenitas diperoleh nilai signifikansi (sig 2-tailed) sebesar 0,666> 0,05 yang artinya data berdistribusi normal. Sedangkan pada uji Independent Samples Test diperoleh signifikansi (sig. 2- tailed) sebesar 0,000 < 0,05 yang artinya ada pengaruh Kemampuan literasi matematika terhadap hasil belajar siswa SMA Swasta Santu Xaverius.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berdasarkan hasil laporan primer yang dilaksanakan di sekolah penelitian, terdapat masalah yaitu: (1) keputusan model pembelajaran yang digunakan masih biasa-biasa saja (2) tidak adanya perhatian terhadap gaya belajar siswa (3) kemampuan untuk berpikir kritis siswa tergolong rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Discovery Learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis ditinjau dari gaya belajar siswa UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Alo'oa. Kelas VIII sebagai populasi penelitian dan sampelnya adalah kelas VIII-A (kelas eksperimen) dan Kelas VIII-B (kelas kontrol) dengan jumlah keseluruhan 50 siswa. Simple random sampling digunakan untuk pengambilan sampel. Dimana penelitian merupakan kuantitatif menggunkan metode eksperimen quasi dengan desain Nonequaivalent Group Control Design, dan instrumen yang digunakan berupa soal tes bentuk uraian tes awal dan akhir dan angket gaya belajar bentuk kuisioner. Berdasarkan pengujian uji hipotesis satu pihak hasil perolehan yaitu thitung = 2,0106 dan ttabel = = t(0,05)(24) = 1,6772. Dengan demikian, thitung = 2,0106 > ttabel = 1,6772, sehingga terima Ha dan tolak Ho, artinya ada pengaruh model pembelajaran Discovery Learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis ditinjau dari gaya belajar siswa UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsiroli Alo’oa. Kemudian perolehan hasil belajar untuk visual dan gaya belajar pada auditori, kelas eksperimen mempunyai rata-rata nilai kemampuan berpikir kritis adalah 70,72, dan 61,77. Sebaliknya kelas kontrol model konvensional dengan gaya belajar visual dan auditori adalah 61,77, dan 65.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berakar pada observasi awal yang dilakukan di SMA Negeri 1 Lotu, yang teridentifikasi beberapa permasalahan antara lain: (1) masih adanya kegiatan pembelajaran pendekatan konvensional dan (2) rendahnya kemampuan siswa untuk berpikir kritis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas model pembelajaran problem based learning yang dipadukan dengan kuis berbasis kertas (paper mode Quizizz) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di sekolah tersebut. Jenis penelitian kuantitatif ini menggunakan desain Nonequivalent Kontrol Group Design dan pendekatan quasi eksperiment. Seluruh kelas XI-MIPA sebagai populasi penelitian, dan sampel penelitiannya meliputi dua kelas yaitu XI MIPA-2 (kelas eksperimen), dan XI MIPA-3 (kelas kontrol). Pengambilan sampel secara lugas yaitu random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan merupakan soal tes uraian. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah independent sample test dengan uji t. Hasil perolehan dengan uji hipotesis adalah  dan . Sehingga terima  dan tolak  karena . Oleh karena itu, kesimpulan yang diperoleh yaitu ada pengaruh model pembelajaran problem based learning berbantuan paper mode Quizizz terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di SMA Negeri 1 Lotu.

Abstract

This research is based on initial observations at the UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Selatan and the results obtained that students’ mathematical reasoning abilities were in the low category and the teaching materials used were still limited. Students had difficulty understanding the textbooks that were too advanced and relied solely on teachers in the learning process. The solution to this problem was to use teaching materials in the form of simple student worksheet, so they were easy for students to understand. The purpose of this research was to develop student worksheet with a realistic mathematics learning approach that was valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ mathematical reasoning abilities. This research is a development research. The development model used is the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The instruments in this study were learning outcome tests, validation questionnaires, and response questionnaires, and response questionnaires. The types of data used in this study are qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data consist of comments and suggestions provided by the validator regarding the developed student worksheet. Meanwhile, quantitative data consist of questionnaire results from the validator, student and teacher response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. Based on the research results, the developed student worksheet have been tested and declared valid in terms of material validity (content), language validity, and design validity. Furthermore, the student worksheet are also very practical to use by students with a practicality percentage of 91% and a practicality percentage result from the teacher of 97.5%. The student worksheets are also effective in improving students’ mathematical reasoning abilities with an average score of 77.20 in the high category and a classical completeness percentage of 86.20 in the very effective category. So it can be concluded that the student worksheets with a realistic mathematical learning approach developed have met the expectations or objectives.
