Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi berdasarkan studi pendahuluan peneliti dimana pemilihan model pembelajaran yang digunakan masih bersifat konvensional, minimnya perhatian pada gaya belajar siswa, serta kurangnya kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran creative problem solving terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis ditinjau dari gaya belajar. Kami menggunakan quasi eksperimen design dengan melibatkan siswa UPTD SMP Negeri 5 Gunungsitoli sebanyak 50 siswa. Instrumen penelitian ini berbentuk uraian kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan angket gaya belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran creative problem solving terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis ditinjau dari gaya belajar siswa. Berdasarkan angket gaya belajar awal dan akhir siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol aspek dominan gaya belajar siswa pada kedua kelas adalah visual.

Abstract

Hasil studi pendahuluan kami menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan metode pembelajaran yang digunakan masih bersifat konvensional dan rendahnya kemampuan literasi matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) terhadap Kemampuan Literasi Matematis. Kami menggunakan desain experiment dengan Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sebanyak 60 siswa yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini berasal dari siswa kelas IX UPTD SMP Negeri 5 Gunungsitoli. Kami menggunakan instrumen tes kemampuan literasi matematis siswa. Data yang dikumpulkan, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis satu pihak, diperoleh thitung sebesar 8,734 dan ttabel sebesar 1,671 yang berarti bahwa terdapat pengaruh pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) terhadap Kemampuan Literasi Matematis Siswa

Abstract

This article investigates the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) as a pedagogical strategy to cultivate critical thinking skills among junior high school students. Utilizing a qualitative research design, the study synthesizes insights from recent research and theoretical frameworks published within the last five years, employing classroom observations, interviews, document analysis, and focus groups to gather comprehensive data. The analysis highlights PBL's effectiveness in fostering critical thinking through student-centered, inquiry-based learning processes, emphasizing improvements in analytical reasoning, problem-solving abilities, and collaborative communication. Key findings reveal that while PBL significantly enhances these skills, successful implementation is contingent upon addressing challenges related to teacher preparedness, time constraints, uneven student participation, and resource limitations. Strategies such as targeted professional development for teachers, structured scaffolding for students, and leveraging technology are discussed as potential solutions. The article concludes with recommendations for educators and policymakers, advocating for systemic changes to support widespread adoption of PBL and promote a shift towards more engaging, student-centered learning environments. This research contributes to the ongoing dialogue on innovative teaching practices that equip students with the essential skills needed for success in the 21st century.

Abstract

Rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dan sumber belajar yang kurang mendukung siswa dalam proses pembelajaran.  Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menghasilkan media pembelajaran LKPD berbasis PBL dan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan ditinjau dari aspek kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Kami menggunakan pengembangan model ADDIE dengan instrumen tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis, angket validasi ahli materi, ahli bahasa, ahli desain, angket respon guru dan siswa. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa data saran dan kritik yang diberikan terhadap lembar kerja peserta didik yang dikembangkan, serta data hasil angket dari validator, angket respon siswa, angket respon guru dan tes hasil belajar.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lembar kerja peserta didik yang dikembangkan telah teruji dan dinyatakan valid baik dari segi validitas materi, validitas bahasa dan validitas media. Selanjutnya, lembar kerja peserta didik juga sangat praktis digunakan oleh siswa dengan persentase kepraktisan 90.33% dan hasil persentase kepraktisan dari guru sebesar 90%. Lembar kerja peserta didik yang dikembangan juga efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan nilai rata-rata 81.52 dan tingkat kriteria ketuntasan klasikal > 60. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa lembar kerja peserta didik yang dikembangkan sudah memenuhi harapan atau tujuan penelitian.

Abstract

This study aims to present information and also find out about students' problem-solving skills using Problem Based Learning methods and methods conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli Selatan. The design of this study used the Quasi-Experimental method with the pretest-posttest control group design method. The sample for this study was about 40 respondents, of which 20 students were in class I or experiment I. Meanwhile, 20 students were in class 2 or experiment II. From the research results obtained, the results of the t test were obtained with a calculated t value which had a value of 4,977. Meanwhile, the t table value at α is 0.05 and dk: 38 has a value of 1.6860. Thus t count has a greater value than t table, namely 4,977 ˃ 1,686). With this result, H0 is rejected and the H1 hypothesis is accepted. From these results it was found that there were significant results between students' problem solving abilities towards problem solving by applying the problem based learning learning model.

Abstract

This study explores a community-based model to mitigate the crisis of basic literacy and numeracy in underdeveloped rural villages through the collaborative facilitation by parents and teachers using local educational games. Employing a qualitative research methodology, the study analyzes the effectiveness of integrating traditional games in literacy and numeracy development in disadvantaged village settings in Indonesia. Data were collected through interviews, focus groups, and observations involving educators, parents, and village children. Findings indicate that the model fosters increased engagement, comprehension, and supportive learning environments at home and schools. The participatory approach enhances awareness, motivation, and the application of basic numeracy and literacy skills, suggesting a culturally contextualized sustainable strategy for rural education improvement.

Abstract

This qualitative study explores the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to enhance critical thinking skills among junior high school students in Indonesia. Recognizing the limitations of traditional teaching methods that emphasize memorization, this research investigates how PBL, which centers on student-driven problem-solving, impacts students"™ analytical abilities, collaboration, and self-directed learning. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with three teachers and ten students, and analysis of student assignments and reflections over a 12-session period. Thematic analysis revealed that PBL effectively promotes critical thinking by encouraging students to question assumptions, evaluate multiple perspectives, and engage in meaningful dialogue with peers. Additionally, the study found that teachers shifted their roles from information providers to facilitators, which positively influenced student engagement and autonomy. However, challenges such as time constraints, curriculum alignment, and the need for teacher training were identified as barriers to optimal implementation. The findings suggest that with adequate support and adaptation, PBL can serve as a powerful pedagogical approach to develop critical thinking skills in junior high school settings. The study contributes to the growing body of research advocating for innovative instructional strategies in secondary education and offers practical recommendations for educators and policymakers aiming to foster higher-order thinking skills in adolescents.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi observasi dan pemberian tes awal di SMP Negeri 6 Lahewa, yang menunjukkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas VIII masih sangat kurang dan bahan ajar yang digunakan masih terbatas, kurangnya kemandirian belajar, dan siswa yang kesulitan memahami dan menjawab soal matematika sehingga menyebabkan siswa tidak terlibat aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. Solusi dari permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan menggunakan bahan ajar berupa LKS yang sederhana, sehingga mudah dipahami oleh siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan LKS berbasis Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) yang valid, praktis dan efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah pengembangan. Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model ADDIE, yang terdiri atas lima tahapan yaitu analysis, design, development, implementation, dan evaluation. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah tes hasil belajar, angket validasi ahli materi, bahasa, desain, angket respon guru dan siswa. Jenis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data kualitatif dan data kuantitatif. Data kualitatif berupa komentar dan saran yang diberikan terhadap LKS yang dikembangkan. Data kuantitatif berupa hasil angket dari validator, angket respon siswa, angket respon guru dan tes hasil belajar. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, LKS yang dikembangkan telah teruji dan dinyatakan valid baik dari segi validitas materi (isi), validitas bahasa, dan validitas desain. Selanjutnya, LKS juga sangat praktis digunakan oleh siswa dengan persentase kepraktisan sebesar 86,86% dan hasil persentase kepraktisan dari guru sebesar 97,27%. LKS yang dikembangkan juga efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dengan nilai rata-rata 85,00 dan berada pada kategori sangat baik dan persentase ketuntasan klasikal sebesar 86,36% berkategori sangat efektif. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa LKS yang dikembangkan sudah memenuhi harapan atau tujuan penelitian.

Abstract

Students' critical thinking skills in mathematics learning are still low and need to be addressed immediately, particularly at UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Mandrehe Barat. This is influenced by the limited availability of learning materials. As a solution, a Self Regulated Learning (SRL)-based module was developed to encourage independent, reflective, and gradual learning to enhance students' critical thinking skills. This study aims to develop a mathematics learning module based on SRL that is valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills. This research is a development study using the Plomp model, which consists of three phases: preliminary investigation, prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The instruments used in this research include learning outcome tests, validation questionnaires, and student and teacher response questionnaires. The types of data used in this study are qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data consist of comments and suggestions from validators regarding the developed module. Quantitative data consist of validation scores, student and teacher responses, and critical thinking test results after using the developed learning material. The results showed that the developed module was highly valid, with validation scores from subject matter expert I at 92%, expert II at 93%, language expert at 82.5%, and design expert at 90%. The module was also considered highly practical, with student response at 90.4% and teacher response at 95%. Furthermore, the module was effective in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving skills, with an average score of 76.34 (moderate category) and classical completeness of 88.46% (very effective category). It can be concluded that the developed SRL-based learning module meets the objectives of the study.

Abstract

This research was motivated by findings in the problem limitation, namely that students' mathematics learning outcomes had not yet reached the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). Many students considered mathematics to be difficult and boring, and the lack of instructional materials contributed to the ineffectiveness of the learning process. To overcome this issue, a mathematics learning module based on the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model was developed to enhance students' active involvement. This study aims to develop a module that is valid, practical, and effective for use in junior high school mathematics instruction. The research adopted the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The instruments used in this study included validation questionnaires, practicality questionnaires, effectiveness questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The subjects of the research were one mathematics teacher and eighteen Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 3 Bawolato. The data collected consisted of both quantitative and qualitative data. The validation results indicated that the module was highly valid, with a score of 91.6% from the content expert, 88.8% from the language expert, and 87.5% from the design expert. The module was considered highly practical based on the teacher's response (92.5%) and students' response (89.8%). The module's effectiveness was demonstrated by an increase in students’ learning outcomes, from an average score of 25.67 (low category) to 84.55 (very good category). Thus, the mathematics module based on the Problem-Based Learning model meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness, and is suitable for use in mathematics learning at the junior high school level.
