Abstract

This study aims to find out how the moral values in the book of Bidāyah al-Hidāyah discussed through perspective of personality development theory which includes four personality developments: religious education, habituation to discipline, habituation to ethics and noble character, and habituation to independence. This type of research includes library research with secondary data sources. As for the data collection technique, the study of documentation from the study of the main sources, namely the book of Bidāyah al-Hidāyah and relevant research literature. The data obtained were then be analyzed using content analysis and found as the results of this research, namely the indicative that the Bidāyah al-Hidāyah contains three moral values. The first moral value is that students in seeking knowledge must always remember Allah. Secondly, an educator must be responsible and authoritative. And thirdly, students must have good character, morals, and humility, especially towards kyai and/or ustadz.

Abstract

Islamic Education must engage in dialogue with the dynamics of social life and technological developments. Through the modernization and democratization of Islamic Education, Azyumardi Azra offers an educational construction that can face the challenges of modernity by adhering to the values and teachings of the Islamic religion. This research aims to reveal Azyumardi Azra's views and conception of Islamic Education and their implications for the construction of Islamic Education. This study uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research. The results of this study indicate that Islamic Education in Azra's view, must be oriented towards the formation and development of children's personality based on the teachings of Islam. Not only that, Islamic Education must also be designed considering students' competence in mastering science and technology. In this way, it can carry out its function of preparing human resources thoroughly. To modernize and democratize Education, Azra offers several strategic steps, including; ideological-normative, political, economic, social, and cultural mobilization. At the same time, Azra also uncovered several variables that must become a modernization agenda: administrative modernization, subcultural modernization, and capacity expansion. In addition, according to Azra, efforts to democratize Education are more to make the education system more just, inclusive, and participatory. According to him, the democratization of Education is a process of social change that aims to make the education system more equitable and of better quality for all citizens. He believes that democratization in Education can be characterized by three key aspects. Firstly, it involves having a flexible curriculum that allows students to express their creativity. Secondly, there is a shift in the paradigm of Islamic Education, moving away from an authoritarian approach towards a more democratic one. Lastly, there is a harmonious connection between Islamic educational institutions and the surrounding community, ensuring a synchronized and inclusive learning environment

Abstract

The rapid intellectual development of Islam in Indonesia has necessitated the modernization of  Islamic education, particularly in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN/ Public Islamic High School)  Insan Cendekia Pekalongan, which integrates spiritual rational humanism with religious  moderation. This study examines the connection between religious values and rational  modernization through the transformation of five core programs: digital madrasah, foreign  language development, adiwiyata madrasah, research madrasah, and homestay programs.  Employing a qualitative field research method, data was collected through in-depth interactive  communication with key stakeholders, including the head of the madrasah, deputy heads, and  research supervisors. The findings reveal that the rational-spiritual connection is manifested  through program modernization, which integrates multicultural values, tolerance, and local  wisdom into the madrasah’s academic environment. The modernization framework is inspired  by Habibie's intellectual and technological advancements, aiming to cultivate holistic human  development through the synergy of faith, science, and technology. This study highlights the  strategic role of religious moderation in balancing Islamic spirituality and rational thought,  enabling students to navigate contemporary educational challenges while maintaining their  cultural and religious identity. The implications of this research underscore the necessity of  curriculum transformation in Islamic education to enhance scientific literacy, critical thinking,  and social intelligence, thereby fostering a generation of Muslim scholars and professionals  who embody intellectual and ethical excellence. Future studies should explore the longitudinal  impact of these modernization programs on students' academic and socio-religious trajectories.

Abstract

The lack of communication between the education office and the ministry of religion in the implementation of Diniyah Takmiliyah education which has led to the emergence of new Diniyah Takmiliyah institutions, resulting in overlapping, and the low participation of parents in involving their children in Diniyah Takmiliyah education are some of the problems in the implementation of the Diniyah Takmiliyah integration policy with formal educational institutions. The objective of this research is to analyze and formulate the way of regency government in building the coalition with the executive parties of the policies of Diniyah Takmiliyah integration with formal educational institution in Sumenep and Pasuruan Regency and in building coalitions that lead to communication strategies so that research results can describe solutions to existing problems. This research is qualitative research with an institutional approach and an actor approach. The data collection technique used is document review, observation, and interviews, while the data analysis is done through several stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The research results show that the method of building coalitions can be done in two ways. They are anticipatory and responsive. The findings of these two strategies are discussed further in the research. Furthermore, this research recommends effectiveness or factorial analysis to provide validation of the findings of this research.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the distribution of research articles with the theme of tolerance between religious communities in the Scopus database. Scopus journals are known to have high quality standards so it is certain that the articles collected in them are of good quality. Furthermore, the VOSviewer application is used as an analytical tool in research using a bibliometric approach. The results of the research focused on finding and analyzing topics that have a connection with interfaith tolerance. Data on the number of documents/articles with the theme of tolerance between religious communities contained in the Scopus database with the period 1993 - 2024 are 33 documents. This topic is an interesting thing to continue to be researched by further researchers, this is due to the graphical increase in this theme every year which indicates that this topic is increasingly in demand by researchers, this will certainly have a huge impact in fostering harmony in diversity.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of government budget efficiency measures on the quality of Islamic education in Indonesia. As Islamic education plays a crucial role in the national education system—serving millions of students across Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) and madrasas—budgetary policies are likely to have significant consequences for educational outcomes, teacher welfare, infrastructure, and institutional sustainability. This research employs a qualitative literature review methodology, drawing on secondary sources such as scholarly publications, policy reports, recent academic articles, and digital media content, including YouTube and other social platforms. A descriptive analytical approach is utilized to assess the extent to which budget efficiency policies influence the quality of Islamic educational institutions. The findings indicate that budget reductions adversely affect teacher professional development initiatives, availability of educational facilities, and the overall welfare of teachers. Furthermore, diminished financial support has led to reduced access to essential educational resources for students in madrasas and pesantren. To address these challenges, the study recommends the implementation of alternative strategies, including strengthened governance mechanisms, increased collaboration with the private sector, and more transparent, targeted budget management practices. The study concludes with a call for further empirical research to deepen understanding of the long-term implications of budget efficiency measures on Islamic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Upaya guru PAI dalam mengembangkan pembelajaran baik diluar dan didalam kelas sangatlah bervariasi, terutama dalam memaksimalkan media, digital dalam mendukung peningkatan pemahaman peserta didik. Urgensi penggunaan digital dalam pembelajaran merupakan hal yang sudah sewajarnya dimiliki oleh setiap guru, karena kemampuan guru dalam memanfaatkan digital dalam pembelajaran bisa membantu metode pembelajaran yang digunakan guru menjadi lebih bervariasi dan tidak monoton. Terutama di Sekolah Menengah Atas yang sudah sangat memaksimalkan media dalam pembelajarannya, tentunya metode sorogan dan discovery learning yang diterapkan tidak akan dapat berjalan bila tidak dibarengi oleh kemampuan guru dalam memanfaatkan media sebagai pembelajaran, disamping kemampuan guru dalam menguasai perangkat, media, dan penggunaan metode pembelajaran, guru juga harus memiliki konten dan materi yang berisi, agar kesemuanya mendukung dalam proses pembelajaran dan peningkatan pemahaman tidak hanya pada kognitif siswa, melainkan juga peningkatan afektif. Dalam penelitian kali ini, akan mengkaji lebih jauh tentang integrasi metode sorogan dan discovery learning di Sekolah Menengah Atas. Untuk penelitian masa depan sebaiknya difokuskan pada pengembangan modul dan konten digital yang lebih spesifik untuk masing-masing metode pembelajaran tersebut. Selain itu, analisis komparatif antara sekolah yang telah menerapkan teknologi digital dalam pembelajaran dengan sekolah yang belum, dapat memberikan wawasan lebih dalam mengenai dampak penggunaan media digital terhadap peningkatan pemahaman siswa baik dari aspek kognitif maupun afektif.

Abstract

The concept of education that is relevant today uses an applicative contextual approach. Fazlur Rahman in understanding the Qur'an sees it in a historical context and tries to project it in a contemporary context. The purpose of this study is to find out the concept of fazlur Rahman education and its relevance in modern times. The research method used by library research uses historical and philosophical analysis of the concept of Fazlur Rahman Islamic Education. Fazlur Rahman, a Hanafi-born Muslim intellectual, was born in the traditional community. However, his thinking is not stuck in the tradition that he studied a lot of Western sciences.  Rahman is an Islamic modernist and reformer of Muslim education who contributes by offering more emphasized development strategies in areas that are part of the education system itself, as well as integrating the two sciences, so that there is no disintegration in education and there is no gap between sciences due to the dichotomy of education.  Monitoring Fazlur Rahman's concept of education can be concluded his school of thought is stuck on the religious rational.

Abstract

AbstractHasyim Asy'ari is better known as a cleric who transformed Islamic boarding school education, as well as being a fighter. Hasyim Asy'ari turned Tebuireng into a model Islamic boarding school for Islamic boarding schools throughout Indonesia. By using relevant literature data from the book Adab al-Alim wa al-Muta'allim by Hasyim Asy'ari, this research uses library research by collecting information through documentary methods. In the book Directions for Competency of the Indonesian Generation Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045 prepared by the National Education Standards Agency (BNSP), Indonesia will celebrate its 100th anniversary of independence in 2045. Indonesia will experience a golden age at that time. Education needs to be organized as a "Garden that Excites", "Garden that Grows", and "Garden that Strengthens", in accordance with the ideals of Ki Hajar Dewantara. Because there are no castes based on intelligence (ranking), all students feel safe and comfortable in the "Education Park". Each student feels valued for their individuality and uniqueness in the park. It is in gardens like this that humans mature into civilized creatures. His contribution of thought, whether in the form of works, or his work in establishing Islamic boarding schools and the Nahdlatul Ulama organization has proven his work and is valid evidence to attribute to him the figure of Indonesian Islamic education.  As part of a conservative traditional education figure, Hasyim Asy'ari's contribution to educational thought was enormous to the journey of education, especially Islamic boarding school education. Hasyim Asy'ari's thoughts are very relevant to national education issues across eras and are suitable to be adopted in preparing Indonesia's golden generation in the future.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology provides great opportunities for transforming learning, especially Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMP Panglima Sudirman Surabaya. This study aims to examine the utilization of e-books as a learning medium for PAI and its effect on students’ learning motivation. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with subjects including teachers, students, and the principal. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and focus group discussions. The results show that the use of e-books significantly increases students’ learning motivation, with 56% of students demonstrating high motivation. E-books provide a more interactive, engaging, and flexible learning experience while enhancing students’ digital literacy. The main challenges are limited devices and infrastructure, but with proper support, e-books have the potential to be an effective solution for innovative and contextual PAI learning. This study is expected to serve as a reference for the development of digital learning in other schools.
