Abstract

One of the objectives of the establishment of Islamic financial institutions is to introduce sharia principles in the economic world. Officially, the Indonesian government has supported the existence of Islamic financial institutions in Indonesia by issuing a law as its official form. Sharia Financial Services Cooperative is a microfinance institution that provides sharia financial transaction services. Transactions in Sharia Cooperatives are based on Islamic jurisprudence so they are not widely known by people in general. Therefore, this Community Service aims to introduce the types of transactions that exist in Sharia Cooperatives so that people can choose the type of contract that suits their financial transaction needs. The method used in this Community Service is in the form of counseling or outreach to the Kaliabang village community with the results of the socialization of sharia transactions and sharia cooperatives showing an increase in the knowledge and understanding of citizens about contracts in Islamic sharia transactions and any sharia cooperative products based on these contracts.

Abstract

MSMEs play a role as a source of income for the community, fulfilment of goods and services, creation of jobs, and increasing added value so as to reduce poverty and economic growth. However, there are also crucial problems that are often found in MSME actors in Indonesia, namely the problem of financial bookkeeping. This is due to the fact that there are still many MSME actors who have not implemented financial bookkeeping in the businesses they run. In Lenggahsari Village, it is known that the dominant population works as farmers and traders. Many MSME players in Lenggahsari village who have run their businesses still have not implemented financial bookkeeping in the businesses they run. Therefore, the implementation of community service is carried out with the aim of increasing the understanding of MSME actors to implement a financial bookkeeping system so that business records run well. The method used in this service applies the method of community socialisation and training. The results of community service show that MSME actors already have a good understanding of the financial bookkeeping system and business operations.

Abstract

The acceleration of change with the COVID-19 pandemic has made a leap in all aspects, including the banking industry. Islamic banking, which is only a few decades old, has shown a significant increase in assets and institutions that need to be supported by the presence of human resources who understand the characteristics of these institutions so that they do not only focus on domestic affairs but develop overseas. Redesigning the Islamic banking curriculum is urgent in order to prepare the students to become graduates who can be in line with the needs of industrial world. This study aims to redesign the Islamic banking curriculum through in-depth study of stakeholders, namely study program administrators, industry associations (Islamic banking), graduate users, and scientific associations. The method used in this research is a combination by first mapping using the Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat (SWOT) method and then deepening and matching it with the Analytic Network Process (ANP) method to produce priority strategy. The priorities generated based on the SWOT and ANP matrices are : (1) Increasing stakeholder links and matches, (2) Increasing graduate competence, (3) Periodic review and evaluation of the curriculum, (4) Increasing Lecturer capacity. Therefore, Sustainable learning in Islamic banking must be supported by stakeholders by linking and matching in order to fill the need with the availability of competent human resources.

Abstract

The development of Islamic Banking both nationally and globally has experienced a significant increase in both the amount of assets managed and their performance. This development is marked by the spread of Islamic banking offices and networks throughout Indonesia. Such development requires the support of human resources who have skills and knowledge related to Sharia-based banking practices as well as able to compete with the global world. In this regard, language skills, especially English language as a global language become important. Nevertheless, there is a dearth in textbooks that specifically teach people how to conduct Sharia banking practices in English. Thus, this research aims to redesign and improve the language skills of employees and prospective employees of Islamic banking through learning plans and learning objectives that suit industry needs. The present study conducted a needs analysis toward employees, lecturers, college alumni, Sharia-based bank guilds. The present study composed a textbook which consists of eight units to teach employees of Sharia-based banks to conduct banking practices in English. The learning materials are also equipped with learning objectives, aiming to improve the language skills of learners.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the direct and indirect influence among variables such as attitudes, subjective norms and behavioral control perceptions on the decision-making of young couples in buying houses based on sharia contracts with interest variables as the intervening variable. This study used a quantitative method used by distributing questionnaires to 250 young couples. This study used a side purposive sampling method. This study applied a a path analysis to examine the direct and indirect influence of independent variables on dependent variables through intervening variables. The results of the study showed that attitudes, subjective norms and perception of behavioral control influenced people’s interests to buy a house using sharia-based contracts. Furthermore, attitudes affect decision-making, while subjective norm variables and behavioral control perceptions do not have a significant effect on decision-making. Nevertheless, interests have a positive and significant effect on decision-making. Based on the results of the path analysis, interests could mediate attitudes, subjective norms and perception of behavior control in making decisions in taking houses based on sharia contracts. The results of this study imply that sharia-based banks in Indonesia need to provide a continuous literacy program toward sharia-based mortgage products to increase customers’ interests so that they know the advantages of using sharia-based banks, especially in terms of house mortgage financing products.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparative disclosure of Islamic Social Reporting (ISR) between Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS) and Islamic Business Units (UUS). The research employs a descriptive quantitative method, with a sample of 7 Islamic Commercial Banks and 8 Islamic Business Units from 2018 to 2022. The results show a dominance of the employee theme, accounting for 26% for BUS and 29% for UUS. Community disclosure reaches 19% for both. The themes of products, services, and corporate governance range from 16-20%, while the lowest themes are financing and investment for BUS at 8% and the environment for UUS at 9%. BUS tends to disclose corporate social and environmental responsibilities more in-depth, while UUS focuses more on Sharia compliance and profit achievement. The difference in organizational structure explains the influence of company size on ISR in BUS, which is not significant in the more straightforward structure of UUS. Different social responsibility objectives and policies between BUS (focused on Sharia concepts) and UUS (following parent company policies) also play a role. The differing perspectives of the community at the locations of BUS and UUS can influence factors in social responsibility decision-making. This study highlights the complexity of ISR in the context of Islamic banking and provides insights into the development of policies and practices of social responsibility in this sector. It contributes to the literature on ISR disclosure in the Islamic banking sector and can serve as a reference for banks and Islamic business units to enhance their ISR disclosures.
