The study attempted to develop a syllabus and instructional materials that appropriate for the teaching of Essay Writing course Using Graphic Organizers. The Research and Development (R&D) procedure was employed in this study. The model used for designing the syllabus and developing instructional materials followed Yalden’s model known as Language Program Development with modification. The subjects of the study were the 48 students, the coordinator of English Study Program at IAIN Palangka Raya, and Essay Writing lecturer. The final product of this study is the instructional materials for nine meetings covering introduction to the essay (unit 1 meetings 1-4), illustration essay (unit 2 meeting 5), classification essay (unit 3 meeting 6), process essay (unit 4 meeting 7), comparison contrast essay (unit 5 meeting 8), and cause and effect (unit 6 meeting 9). Each unit consisted of learning objective, topic, sub-topic, description, relevancy, and keywords. The instructional material has been empirically tested in try-out stage. Based on the statistical calculation, it was shown that using proposed instructional materials gave facilitative effect on the students’ essay writing performance. Here, the t value of 8.639 was greater than t theoretic at the 5% (1.648) and 1% (2.423) of significant level.

This study aimed to know how are the Students’ Perceptions of using Google Translate as media for assisting independent learning in Vocabulary class. This study was qualitative research methodology, by study case. Subject of the study in this research was the first semester students of Vocabulary class English Education Study Program of IAIN Palangka Raya. The total of the students are 57 students and the researcher took 11 students as the subjects of this research by Purposive Sampling. For the data collection; first, the researcher used the observation checklist. Second, the researcher continued with the interview instrument. The interview has 14 questions with 3 topics; students’ personality, students’ motivation and students experience. Next, researcher analyzed the data as qualitative data from interview which has been collected and using documentation to strengthen the data such as pictures screenshot of interviews in WhatsApp and Zoom Application. Based on the research problem, it can be concluded that the using of Google Translate as a media for assisting students independent learning in vocabulary class are very helpul, effective and students also feel their vocabulary increased and they motivated in the teaching learning process. And considering the conclusions drawn above, it implies that the use of Google Translate can be used to help or support independent learning and also beneficial media for students, Google Translate help them to translate English material quickly and easily. Keywords:  Perceptions, Google Translate, Vocabulary, Independent Learning, Case Study

This study was from the real phenomenon which showed that students were using google translate as media to improve their writing ability and learning motivation. The main problem was students’ lack of vocabulary and they wanted fast and instant translation. As a result, they preferred using google translate than doing their writing ability. The purpose of this research is to measure the correlation between students’ writing ability and learning motivation in google translate writing class of 2nd semester English education study program at IAIN Palangka Raya. This research was a correlational study using quantitative research method. Learning Motivation Questionnaire and Descriptive Text Writing Test were distributed to take the data from 58 student from 2nd semester in academic year 2020/2021 who took paragraph writing class. The sample was obtained through the use of the cluster random sampling technique. The result finding showed the calculation students’ writing ability and learning motivation was rvalue = 0.617 ≥ rtable = 0.258 and tvalue = 5.867118 ≥ ttable = 1.67252),  it meant that Ha accepted and Ho rejected. To develop the ability to remember English vocabulary, this community service activity aims to educate and introduce English vocabulary with the drilling method. The method for doing community service is through demonstrations. The drilling or repetition method is used to teach English vocabulary during the implementation of this activity. Several steps must be taken, including scheduling foreign language vocabulary, especially for English, presenting English vocabulary materials, using English vocabulary in context, inviting students to interpret or define each new word taught, repeating English vocabulary materials, and providing tests to measure how well students learn English vocabulary using drilling methods. Students need to love learning so that they can gain vocabulary quickly and be motivated to maintain English. To make effective use of it, students must also be able to manage their time by using various drilling methods, which will keep them engaged and excited in learning their English. The research was to measure interaction effects for gender, socio-economic status, and using MindMaple lite Software toward writing skills. The investigation used a quasi-experiment design using test as instrument. The subjects were 36 learners at Islamic higher education in Central Kalimantan consisting of 17 males and 19 females; 11 high, 10 middle, and 15 low learners; 17 using MindMaple, and 19 without using MindMaple. A three-way analysis of variance test was applied to perform data analysis. The finding indicated that a different effect occurred for gender (F=8.780; p=0.007); socio economic status (F=4.421; p=0.023), writing strategy using MindMaple (F=36.023; p=0.000) on writing performance. The study indicated an interaction effect occured between gender and socio-economic (F=6.927, p=0.004). Here, females performed better than males; high socio-economic learners did better than the others; learners using MindMaple ware performed better than without using MindMaple. In contrast, the finding found that interaction effect did not occur between gender and writing strategy (F=1.135, p=0.297); socio-economic and writing strategy (F=0.198, p=0.822); gender, socio-economic and writing strategy using MindMaple (F=0.437, p=0.651).  The study concluded that gender, socio-economic and writing strategy did not give significant contribution simultaneously on writing performance. Anxiety is a person's feeling of fear of something that will be faced and can appear suddenly without being realized by students in certain situations. Anxiety that occurs in students, especially students in English study programs, usually occurs because of several things, such as fear of not speaking English well and fear of not being able to answer the English test. This study tries to explore students' anxiety in oral tests at the English Study Program of IAIN Palangka Raya. The purpose of this study is to explain what are the main causes of student anxiety in the oral test at the IAIN Palangka Raya English Study Program and explain what the solutions are to prevent student anxiety in the oral test at the IAIN English Study Program. Palangka Raya. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method and is equipped with a questionnaire. This study found several main causes of student anxiety in oral tests, such as lack of confidence and fear of being unable to answer the lecturer's questions. This study aimed to find out the relation between mimetic and expressive analysis on “BE: LIFE GOES ON†by Bangtan Sonyeondan and the educational implication of these analyses on “BE: LIFE GOES ON†by Bangtan Sonyeondan. The researcher used qualitative research.  The researcher used the mimetic and expressive approach in the study.  The data collection method was library research in which researchers collected data sources from books, journals, and other supporting sources related to the topic of this research. Therefore, the data of this study appears in the form of words, phrases, and sentences contained in the song lyrics on the album BE: Life Goes on. The researcher found there were meaning and educational values in several poems included in the six songs that had been analyzed. These values are the educational character values promoted by the government to develop virtuous character in the students. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara analisis ekspresif mimetik a nd pada "BE: LIFE GOES ON" oleh Bangtan Sonyeondan  dan  implikasi pendidikan dari analisis th ese pada "BE: LIFE GOES ON" oleh Bangtan Sonyeondan. Penelitimenggunakan penelitian kualitatif.  Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan mimetik dan ekspresif dalam penelitian ini. Metode pengumpulan data adalah penelitian kepustakaan dimana peneliti mengumpulkan sumber data dari buku, jurnal, dan sumber pendukung lainnya yang berkaitan dengan topik penelitian ini. Oleh karena itu, data penelitian ini muncul dalam bentuk kata, frasa, dan kalimat yang terdapat dalam lirik lagu pada album BE: Life Goes on. Peneliti menemukan ada makna dan nilai-nilai pendidikan dalam beberapa puisi yang termasuk dalam enam lagu yang telah dianalisis. Nilai-nilai tersebut merupakan nilai-nilai karakter pendidikan yang diusung oleh pemerintah untuk menumbuhkan karakter berbudi luhur pada peserta didik.

The background of this study is the influence of storytelling method to the development of students' speaking and vocabulary and students' perspectives related to the process of how they understand the storytelling material conveyed by the teacher. The objectives of the study are (1) To find out students' perceptions of the storytelling method in English class. (2) What benefits do the obtain after storytelling method applied? This study used qualitative research. Qualitative research is used in the literature as a data analysis and can also obtain results that can be adjusted based on the environment. Qualitative research can also use people as a source of research, therefore qualitative is chosen as material to assist the research being carried out by researchers. This study also used field surveys as a basic research instrument of a research that is being processed to obtain satisfactory results. The findings of this study (1) most students agree that storytelling learning is able to make students improve the quality of students' pronunciation, to be better. students view that storytelling is effective because it uses acceptable and well-implemented methods that make students feel entertained. (2) There are several ways for students to improve their pronunciation, by practicing before the lesson starts and coming to the front of the class to tell their friends. This study investigated the relationship amongst study of reading habits, reading attitude, and reading achievement of Wattpad reader at IAIN Palangka Raya. This study used a quantitative method and a multiple linear regression design.This study involves 30 students of third and fifth semesters of English Department at IAIN Palangka Raya. The data are collected using questionnaire and test. The findings revealed that there is a positive relationship between students' reading habits (mean = 89.47) and attitudes (mean = 70,23) toward their reading achievement (mean = 87,33) as wattpad readers in the third and fifth semesters of the English Education Study Program at IAIN Palangka Raya. The effect of Students' Reading Habit (X1) on Students' Reading Achievement (Y) is 40%, while the effect of Students' Reading Attitude (X2) on Students' Reading Achievement (Y) is 42%. The combined effect of the independent variables on the dependent variable is then 82%. It meant that students' reading habits and reading attitudes have a relatively high influence on students' reading achievement. Therefore, reading habit and attitude can predict the successful language learning in reading achievement. Based on the findings, students should read more to improve their reading habits and attitudes. Teachers and lecturers, particularly in reading subjects, must pay closer attention to students' reading habits and attitudes. For future researchers to conduct research with a larger sample size and to focus not only on reading but also on other abilities such as writing, listening, and speaking.

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Duolingo application in improving vocabulary mastery of 10th grade students at SMKN 2 Palangka Raya in the academic year 2022/2023. The traditional teaching method at SMKN 2 Palangka Raya tends to be monotonous and less interactive, thus, less effective in improving students' vocabulary mastery. This study proposes the integration of the Duolingo application as a learning tool to provide a more interactive and engaging learning experience, as well as to enhance students' vocabulary mastery. A quasi-experimental design is used to compare two classes: X MLPB 2 (conventional method) and X AKL 2 (using Duolingo). Both classes consist of 20 students. Quantitative methods, including normality tests, ANOVA, and Post Hoc, are used for analysis. The results show that the use of Duolingo significantly improves students' vocabulary mastery. The average Post-Test scores increased from 51.857 to 80.714 for class AKL 2, and from 44.706 to 75.147 for class MPLB 2. The integration of technology such as Duolingo has proven to be effective in improving student learning outcomes. Recommendations from this study include increasing the use of technology in language learning curriculum to optimize learning outcomes.
