Abstract

Preeclampsia is a multisystem complication that occurs after 20 weeks of gestation. In recent years there has been no significant decrease in the incidence of preeclampsia, even in developed countries it is still the main cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. This study aims to analyze differences in individual characteristics, lifestyle (physical activity), nutritional status and diet in pregnant women with a history of preeclampsia. This research design is descriptive analytic with cross sectional approach. Samples were obtained from 55 pregnant women with consecutive sampling who met the inclusion criteria. Data analysis used chi-square test and spearman correlation test. The results showed a relationship between physical activity with systolic blood pressure (p value 0.001, r = 0.449) and diastolic (p value 0.43, r = 0.273), there was also a relationship between diet and risk factors for preeclampsia through blood pressure measurements as evidenced by increase in blood pressure (p value 0.000) in pregnant women in the working area of Puskesmas Kedungkandang Malang. The results of this study are expected to be used as a reference in intervening pregnant women at risk of preeclampsia, so that the disease does not develop more severely so that it does not endanger the lives of the mother and the fetus she is carrying.

Abstract

Primiparous mothers will experience various breastfeeding problems because it is the first experience, especially for working mothers. Therefore, they need to get support from their families, mainly from grandmothers. This study aims to analyze the correlation between the grandmother's support and exclusive breastfeeding for primiparous mothers working. This study, conducted in the Arjowinangun Community Health Center coverage area, Malang, used a cross-sectional study approach. The data collection used purposive sampling and questionnaires. One hundred thirty-two respondents had agreed to participate in this study. The results show that most mothers who choose non-exclusive breastfeeding had received insufficient support. There was a significant and strong correlation between grandmother's support and breastfeeding behavior (p-value = 0.000; r = 0.831), which means that the better the grandmother's support, the better exclusive breastfeeding behavior primiparous working mothers. All the support indicators were sufficient categories. The assessment support was the highest correlation to non-exclusive breastfeeding (r = 0.649). The conclusion is grandmother's support has a significant role in the success of exclusive breastfeeding for working mothers, so breastfeeding assistance by health workers should focus on mothers and families, especially grandmothers.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic impacts both the access and quality of health services resulting in many restrictions on almost all routine services—the coverage of antenatal care visits in Indonesian public health centers decreases. Research on the factors affecting antenatal care visits of pregnant women during the Covid-19 pandemic in the eastern Indonesian population is currently limited. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting ANC visits of pregnant women during the covid-19 pandemic. This research implements a cross-sectional design by conducting the study on the coverage area of Pondidaha Health Center, Konawe, in January 2021. Respondents fulfilling the criteria included pregnant women residing in Konawe, experiencing the third trimester of pregnancy (28−40 weeks), having a personal Maternal-Child Health book, and recording the pregnancy visit at Pondidaha Public Health Center or Integrated healthcare center. The exclusion criteria included a mother who did not complete the questionnaires. The data analysis implements the Spearman rank test. Forty-six respondents participating in this study (with most of Pondidaha's pregnant women) were found to have incomplete ANC visits. Factors affecting incomplete ANC visits included knowledge, attitude, health care system, and health workers' support. The result indicated that the level of knowledge, mothers' attitude, healthcare, and health workers' support significantly indicated the positive outcome of ANC visits during the COVID-19 pandemic. In conclusion, the level of knowledge exhibited the highest correlation to the obedience of ANC visits.

Abstract

The Preceptorship method facilitates students to develop their cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities. Through Preceptorship, clinical instructors/preceptors become role models as tutors, leaders, supervisors, and mentors for students. Furthermore, nursing staff who meet the qualifications of a preceptor need Preceptorship training. The Pasuruan District Hospital is one of the network hospitals where nursing students practice the nursing profession, and there are only a few preceptors have attended Preceptorship training. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct Preceptorship training for preceptors. This activity aims to achieve preceptor competence with the Preceptorship method. The respondents were health care staff from Bangil Hospital, such as nurses, midwives, nutritionists, radiographers, medical recorders clerks, and physical therapists. The activity included training for three days from 19-21 November 2019 by providing material, demonstrating, and simulating the Preceptorship method in several rooms at Bangil Hospital. The data collection to measure the level of knowledge used pre-test and post-test questionnaires, while for skills using observation in the implementation of simulations directly to students in the hospital room. Forty-seven respondents participating in this training were male (32%) and female (68%). The results of the level of knowledge were pre-test mean 47.74 and post-test 88.85 with p-value paired t-test results 0.001. Observation results show that the preceptor can practice the Preceptorship method well with students. In conclusion, this training activity increases the knowledge and skills of Preceptorship clinical education methods for preceptors.

Abstract

Low birth weight (LBW) is influenced by various factors, such as maternal education, gestational age, maternal nutritional status, and economic level. The high pregnancy rate in adolescent mothers is in line with pregnancy complications experienced, one of which is giving birth to LBW babies. The aim of this study was to analyze the risk factors most associated with the incidence of LBW babies in mothers aged less than 20 years old in Wagir District, Malang Regency. The data collection method was used cross-sectional. The inclusion criteria in this study were mothers who were less than 20 years old, had given birth to a baby with LBW, and were domiciled in Wagir District. The data was analysed by logistic regression test. A total of 106 respondents participated in this study. The results showed that the factors that were significantly related were nutritional status (p-value 0.012), economic level (p-value 0.030), and gestational age (p-value 0.046). The dominant factor was nutritional status (p-value 0,012; OR 0,666). Nutritional status is the most influential thing for the health of both mother and baby, so the role of health workers in educating women during the preconception period regarding nutrition and the risk of pregnancy is essential.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is giving only breast milk to babies, without other drinks food, or water, except for oral rehydration fluids, drops, or syrup containing vitamins, mineral supplements, or drugs recommended by health workers for medical reasons. Breast milk contains complete nutrition which is very good for growth and development and is easily digested by babies. Mothers who exclusively breastfeed find it easier and faster to lose weight to their pre-pregnancy state. As the gestational age increases, there is a progressive accumulation of maternal body fat. These fat reserves are a source of energy that will be used in the process of producing breast milk. By breastfeeding, the body will produce more breast milk so that fat deposits that function as energy reserves will be used. Thus shrinking fat deposits, the mother's weight will quickly return to its pre-pregnancy state. At present, postpartum weight gain is a separate problem for mothers because of frequent postpartum weight retention. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of exclusive breastfeeding on maternal weight in the postpartum period. A research design used in this study is the pretest-posttest control group design. This study used a group of mothers who exclusively breastfed and a group of mothers who did not exclusively breastfeed as a control group. Data on exclusive and non-exclusive breastfeeding were taken using a questionnaire, while the mother's weight immediately after delivery was taken from the mother's KMS or health worker documents. Calorie intake data was taken using the semi-SSQ questionnaire. While data on body weight in the range of 0-6 months, was taken by way of the researcher weighing directly using the same scales for each respondent. research results obtained Exclusive breastfeeding on mothers causing maternal weight loss in the first 6 months postpartum. Weight retention did not occur as in the non-exclusive breastfeeding group.

Abstract

AbstractReproductive health information for adolescent students is still considered taboo and has not yet been included in the school curriculum. A good understanding of adolescent reproductive health is crucial because adolescents are expected to have responsible attitudes and behaviors regarding the reproductive process. The high-risk sexual behaviors among adolescents are due to a lack of accurate knowledge about reproductive health and sexually transmitted diseases. This activity aims to enhance the knowledge of high school adolescents regarding reproductive health. The activity was held in November 2021 at Public Senior High School 2 Malang, involving male and female students. The activity was conducted through health education, discussions, and demonstrations about reproductive health. The chosen media for delivery were audiovisual materials (PowerPoint presentations and videos). Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test questionnaires related to knowledge. The complete questionnaires underwent data analysis. The data analysis results from the participants, with a total of 218 respondents who thoroughly answered the provided questions, showed that the majority of participants were female (71%), aged 16 years (49.1%), from 10th grade (54.6%), enrolled in the science stream (66.6%), and had previously received information about reproductive health (77.1%). Furthermore, a significant difference in reproductive health knowledge scores was found among male students (p-value 0.000), while for female students, the difference was not significant (p-value 0.892). In conclusion, audiovisual educational media effectively enhances reproductive health knowledge.
