Abstract

Bioinformatika saat ini telah menjadi ilmu yang penting bagi para saintis. Kenyataanya, pemahaman para guru dalam materi bioinformatika khususnya dalam pemanfaatan data GenBank masih perlu ditingkatkan. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengajarkan keterampilan pemanfaatan fungsi GenBank dan analisis dendogram pada guru-guru biologi. Pengabdian berupa pelatihan Bioinformatika bagi guru-guru MGMP Biologi SMA se-Kota Ternate. Pelatihan diikuti oleh 21 guru biologi dari sembilan SMA negeri dan swasta. Keterampilan peserta termasuk kategori sangat baik yakni nilai 95 pada keterampilan memanfaatkan fungsi GenBank dan 84 pada keterampilan analisis dendogram. Peserta juga merespon positif dengan kategori baik sekali terhadap pemateri dan isi materi dengan memberikan nilai rata-rata yakni 95,87 untuk pemateri dan 93.68 terhadap konten yang disampaikan. Secara umum, pelatihan bioinformatika ini termasuk sangat berhasil dan dapat dilanjutkan dengan sasaran yang lebih luas meliputi Kota Tidore dengan materi yang lebih bervariatif.

Abstract

Kontrak bisnis merupakan elemen fundamental dalam dunia usaha yang berfungsi sebagai dasar hubungan hukum antar pihak yang terlibat. Penyusunan kontrak yang kurang cermat seringkali menimbulkan sengketa hukum yang merugikan. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman peserta mengenai strategi penyusunan kontrak bisnis yang aman, jelas, dan sesuai ketentuan hukum dalam praktik bisnis. Kegiatan dilaksanakan secara daring pada 10 Mei 2025, hasil kerja sama antara akademisi dari beberapa perguruan tinggi dan Lembaga Pelatihan dan Sertifikasi SSQ Holistik Internasional, dengan diikuti oleh alumni program CBsQ, CMtQ, serta masyarakat umum. Melalui penyampaian materi oleh Narasumber, peserta diberikan pemahaman tentang pentingnya kejelasan bahasa hukum, pengaturan hak dan kewajiban, serta mitigasi risiko melalui kontrak yang sah dan etis. Kegiatan ini juga memperkuat jejaring kolaboratif antar alumni dan komunitas bisnis berbasis nilai keadilan dan profesionalisme. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan peserta tentang kontrak bisnis yang aman, berkelanjutan, dan beretika.

Abstract

Legume Cover Crop (LCC) merupakan kelompok tumbuhan dari suku Fabaceae yang berperan penting dalam konservasi tanah dan peningkatan kualitas agroekosistem berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keberadaan, keragaman, dan sebaran spasial LCC di Pulau Ternate, Pulau Tidore, dan Halmahera Barat, Maluku Utara. Penelitian dilakukan secara deskriptif eksploratif melalui survei lapangan, identifikasi morfologi, serta analisis spasial menggunakan ArcGIS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 14 spesies yang tergolong dalam 11 genus dengan total 68 aksesi. Tidore Kepulauan memiliki jumlah aksesi tertinggi (35 aksesi; 51,47%), diikuti Ternate (21 aksesi; 30,88%) dan Halmahera Barat (12 aksesi; 17,65%). Komunitas LCC didominasi oleh Centrosema pubescens dan Calopogonium mucunoides yang memiliki sebaran luas dan tingkat adaptasi tinggi pada agroekosistem tropis. Pola sebaran menunjukkan bahwa keberadaan LCC dipengaruhi oleh kondisi lingkungan dan intensitas pemanfaatan lahan. Secara ekologis, LCC berkontribusi dalam konservasi tanah, peningkatan bahan organik, serta dukungan terhadap aktivitas mikroba tanah. Hasil penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya pemanfaatan LCC sebagai strategi pengelolaan lahan berkelanjutan di wilayah kepulauan yang rentan terhadap degradasi tanah seperti Maluku Utara.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Kekerasan seksual dan bullying/perundungan merupakan masalah serius yang dapat berdampak negatif terhadap kesehatan fisik dan mental korban, termasuk di lingkungan pendidikan seperti pesantren. Tujuan: Kegaiatan yang dirancang ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan santri di Pondok Pesantren Ulul Al Baab Ternate dalam mencegah kekerasan seksual dan perundungan melalui pelatihan. Metode: Pelatihan dilaksanakan menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi, dan simulasi. Hasil: Pengetahuan santri dalam hal pencegahan kekerasan seksual dan bullying/perundungan secara umum meningkat sebanyak 56% dari 31% menjadi 67% stelah pelatihan. Kesimpulan: Pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap peningkatan keamanan dan kesejahteraan di lingkungan pendidikan pesantren serta menjadi acuan bagi pesantren lain dalam mengembangkan program pencegahan kekerasan dan perundungan.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus remains a major global health challenge, encouraging the exploration of natural products as alternative therapeutics. Stelechocarpus burahol (kepel), an ethnobotanically significant Indonesian fruit traditionally consumed for its health benefits, represents a promising source of bioactive compounds. This study aimed to integrate ethnobotanical knowledge with molecular insights by identifying potential antidiabetic compounds using an in silico approach. A total of 66 phytochemical compounds were screened through drug-likeness, ADMET, and biological activity prediction, followed by molecular docking against Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) (PDB ID: 6B1E). The docking protocol was validated (RMSD 1.697 Å). Several phenolic compounds showed strong binding affinity, particularly gallocatechol (−8.4 kcal/mol), catechin (−8.2 kcal/mol), and 6-hydroxyluteolin (−8.1 kcal/mol), outperforming the native ligand. These findings highlight the potential of S. burahol as a natural source of DPP-4 inhibitors.

Abstract

The genus Syzygium (Myrtaceae) is one of the most diverse groups of tropical woody plants, characterized by high morphological variation and complex taxonomy. This study aimed to investigate the biosystematics, spatial distribution, and phenetic relationships of Syzygium species on Ternate Island, Indonesia, using morphological and multivariate approaches. Field exploration was conducted across five districts, and morphological data were collected from both vegetative and reproductive organs. A total of eight species were recorded, exhibiting heterogeneous distribution patterns ranging from widespread to localized occurrences. Multivariate analyses, including hierarchical cluster analysis and Principal Component Analysis (PCA), revealed consistent phenetic relationships, separating the species into two major groups. The first two principal components accounted for 78.62% of the total variation, with fruit-related characters—particularly fruit size and flesh thickness—identified as the main determinants of species grouping. A dichotomous key based on diagnostic morphological traits was developed to facilitate accurate species identification. These findings highlight the importance of reproductive characters, especially fruit morphology, in species delimitation within Syzygium. This study provides a valuable baseline for taxonomy, biodiversity assessment, and conservation, and underscores the continued relevance of morphology-based biosystematics in tropical plant research.

Suparman S, Pornpongrungrueng P, Chantaranothai P. 2023. Molecular studies of coralberry (Ardisia crenata Sims; Primulaceae) from Thailand based on SCoT markers. Biodiversitas 24: 3183-3189. A coralberry (Ardisia crenataSims) is the most common species of Ardisia Sw. distributed widely in Thailand. The grouping of the species for intraspecific based on morphometric characters was unstable. Some molecular primers were used by researchers to separate species. In this molecular study, six selected SCoT of 36 primers, i.e., primers no. 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, and 21, displayed high polymorphic and resolving power in A. crenata from 14 different natural populations in Thailand. This marker separated all taxa into two groups from different floristic regions. In contrast, this result did not support the classification of the intraspecific level of A. crenata based on continued morphological characteristics. For the conclusion that this study was recorded as the first one using the SCoT marker on the Ardisiaand the primer worked well in A. crenata and was recommended for other species in Ardisia.

Abstract. Suparman S, Tamalene MN, Bahtiar B, Ilmi ZL. 2025. Morphological diversity and cluster relationships of indigenous Musa spp. based on biosystematic in North Maluku, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 26: 4220-4228. The banana (Musa spp.) is a culturally and economically vital crop in North Maluku, yet its local morphological diversity remains underdocumented. This study examined 40 indigenous banana cultivars from five islands (Morotai, Halmahera, Ternate, Tidore, Bacan) using 52 standardized morphological descriptors. Genomic groups were inferred morphologically (AA/AAA, AAB, ABB, AB). Phenetic relationships were analyzed via Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and UPGMA clustering using Euclidean and Ward's methods. Four distinct clusters were identified, i.e., group A (penganten), group B (tanduk), group C (takoapi), and group D (mas); the clusters were independent of genomic classification. Genome group distribution included AA/AAA (52.5%), AAB (32.5%), ABB (12.5%), and AB (2.5%). Key traits differentiating clusters included petiole canal morphology, bract coloration, and fruit shape. Most cultivars (75%) were distributed below 100 masl, showcasing their ecological adaptability. A few (e.g., Sarango, Goroho Putih) were found at elevations >150 m, indicating ecological adaptability. The incongruence between morphological clusters and genomic groups suggests the influence of somaclonal variation, ecological adaptation, and cultural selection. These findings provide a crucial baseline for in situ conservation and targeted breeding of regionally adapted banana germplasm in eastern Indonesia. Conservation efforts are especially critical for cultivars possessing rare genome types, given their vulnerability and genetic significance.

Abstract

Microscope skills are fundamental in biology education as they connect theoretical concepts with direct observation of cells and tissues. However, many students still struggle to operate microscopes properly, resulting in suboptimal practical sessions. This activity aimed to enhance students’ understanding and practical skills through structured microscope training. The training was conducted on May 18, 2025, at SMA Negeri 8 Ternate, involving 42 eleventh-grade students (20 males and 22 females) and three biology teachers. The program included theoretical explanation, demonstration, and hands-on practice using the cyanoacrylate-based leaf epidermis replica technique. Training effectiveness was evaluated through pre-test and post-test scores, practical skill rubrics, and participant satisfaction questionnaires. The training significantly improved students’ learning outcomes. The average knowledge score increased by 24.5% (from 59.8 to 84.3), while practical skills reached an average of 81.5% (“good” category). Participant satisfaction averaged 88%, with the highest ratings on clarity of instruction (3.6) and opportunity for discussion (3.7). Attendance (92%) and engagement in practice (91%) reflected high enthusiasm and active participation. These findings indicate that structured, hands-on training supported by repeated practice and interactive facilitation effectively enhances both conceptual and procedural competencies in microscopy. The model also promotes collaboration and strengthens students’ scientific skills. Microscope training at SMA Negeri 8 Ternate proved effective in improving students’ knowledge, skills, and motivation. This training model is recommended for broader application to strengthen biology practicum competencies and can be adapted for other school laboratory topics.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems are coastal ecosystems strongly influenced by salinity, which affects plant adaptation. Pangandaran Regency has mangrove areas with different salinity conditions that may influence the morphological and anatomical characteristics of Sonneratia alba Sm. This study aimed to analyze leaf area and thickness, stomatal characteristics, trichomes, chlorophyll content, and salt accumulation in Sonneratia alba leaves from Bulaksetra and Bojongsalawe. A qualitative and  quantitative approach was used through leaf morphological and anatomical analysis, as well as measurements of chlorophyll content and salt concentration. The results showed that leaf area and thickness did not differ significantly between locations. Stomatal density was significantly lower under high salinity (28.841 cells/mm²) compared to low salinity (40.765 cells/mm²) (p = 0.024), and chlorophyll content was also lower under high salinity (32.167 CCI) compared to low salinity (47.333 CCI) (p = 0.011). Unicellular non-glandular trichomes were found on the adaxial leaf surface of Sonneratia alba, helping reduce water loss and light exposure. Salt accumulation was higher under high salinity as an adaptive mechanism to maintain osmotic balance and reduce toxicity. Sonneratia alba shows ecophysiological plasticity in response to salinity through physiological and anatomical adjustments, especially in stomata and chlorophyll content. These findings highlight the importance of adaptive mechanisms Sonneratia alba for mangrove conservation and rehabilitation in coastal areas.
