Abstract

Education based on sustainable development is an idea that has long been initiated by UNESCO in facing global challenges in the 21st century. As a result of previous development that did not pay attention to sustainability in terms of economic, social and environmental aspects. We can see the impact on environmental damage, economic inequality, fractured social relations, and other problems. Actually, if we want to examine cultural and religious heritages in depth. These impacts should not occur massively or at least can be controlled. Among the cultural heritage that contains the value of sustainable development is the Tanbih Suryalaya Text, which is still often recited by its followers. Therefore, this article will attempt to develop the Tanbih text, which is still in Sundanese, into Arabic. Then make it as a teaching material for Arabic Language Education based on sustainable development through a descriptive qualitative approach method with literature study sources. The result of this research is an Arabic learning model that utilizes the Suryalaya tanbih text.

Abstract

One of the important factors that influence student activity in learning is motivation. Ideally, every student has a strong motivation in following each subject, including Islamic Religious Education (PAI). However, the reality is that there are still many students who are demotivated in learning PAI. This happens because in the PAI learning process it is only a transfer of material and is rote. Thus, teachers need to strive for learning that is in harmony with how the brain works so that students are motivated to learn PAI. This study aims to describe the design of brain-based learning (Brain Based Learning). This research is in the form of library research using a descriptive analytical approach to the Brain Based Learning themes of Eric Jensen's thinking. In this study it was found that to increase students' learning motivation with a Brain Based Learning model, the following steps could be taken: pre-exposure, preparation, initiation/acquisition, elaboration, memory formation, reinforcement, celebration and integration

Abstract

Breast cancer is a disease characterized by abnormal cell growth, which can invade adjacent tissues or metastasize to other organs. Secang (Caesalpinia sappan L.) is a plant that has been used as an alternative medicine for a variety of health conditions, including some types of cancer. This study aims to determine whether the brazilin compound found in secang wood can interact with the target receptors estrogen alpha, 17-β-HSD-1, and NUDT5, potentially serving as an anticancer candidate. Molecular docking simulations were employed to identify the molecular interactions of brazilin against estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) (PDB ID: 3ERT), 17β-HSD-1 (PDB ID: 3HB5), and NUDT5 (PDB ID: 5NQR) using AutoDockTools software. The results showed that the best free-binding energy (ΔG) value obtained for brazilin against the 17-β-HSD-1 receptor was -9.16 kcal/mol, with an inhibition constant of 192.45 nM. The ΔG value of brazilin with estrogen alpha was -6.68 kcal/mol, and the ΔG value for brazilin against NUDT5 was -4.8 kcal/mol. Brazilin has a higher potency compared to innate ligands based on the docking result of estrogen alpha receptor and NUDT5. Some structural similarities and interactions occurred between the amino acids GLY186 and TYR155 in brazilin with the binding of amino acids formed in the innate ligand against the 17-β-HSD-1 receptor, thus showing similar affinity to the 17-β-HSD1 receptor. In silico approaches provided valuable insights into the potential of brazilin as an anti-breast cancer agent.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Asian Parliamentary Debate (APD) techniques on the Arabic speaking skills of university students, specifically those in the Arabic Language Education program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Speaking skills, particularly in Arabic, are essential for students’ academic and professional success, yet many face challenges in mastering fluency, confidence, and argumentation. This research aims to evaluate the potential of APD in improving speaking skills, specifically fluency, self-confidence, and argumentative construction in Arabic. This qualitative study utilizes a descriptive methodology, incorporating observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis to collect data from second-semester students engaged in APD sessions. The study indicates notable advancements in students' speaking abilities, especially in areas of self-confidence, fluency, and argumentation. After three cycles of debate, students exhibited an increase in self-confidence from 60% to 90%, an improvement in fluency from 55% to 89%, and an enhancement in their ability to construct arguments from 50% to 90%. Furthermore, participation in debates also increased, from 60% to 95%. Interviews with students highlighted the positive effects of APD on overcoming public speaking fears and enhancing critical thinking. The findings suggest that APD techniques foster a dynamic and interactive learning environment that not only improves speaking skills but also boosts student engagement and critical thinking. These results contribute to the growing body of research on the effectiveness of debate techniques in language education, particularly in Arabic. The study recommends incorporating APD into Arabic language curricula to further enhance students' speaking abilities. Future research should explore the long-term effects of APD and its application in other language learning contexts

Abstract

Breast cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality worldwide, suggesting the need for novel therapeutic agents with greater efficacy and fewer side effects. Brazilin, a natural flavonoid compound isolated from Caesalpinia sappan L., has shown promising anticancer activity, particularly against breast cancer cells. This study explores the therapeutic potential of brazilin by evaluating its interactions with three key molecular targets: estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 1 (17β-HSD1), and Nudix hydrolase 5 (NUDT5). Using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, the study assesses the stability and binding interactions of complex systems. The results indicate that brazilin forms a stable complex with ERα, demonstrated by a low RMSD (2.6 Å) and strong hydrogen bonding with Glu353, occupancies of 97.8%, and minimal flexibility at the binding site (average RMSF < 2.5 Å). The binding free energy (ΔG Total) for the ERα–brazilin complex was -54.28 kcal/mol, indicating a stronger affinity than the reference ligand 4-hydroxytamoxifen. Brazilin also showed favorable binding with 17β-HSD1 and NUDT5, with binding energies of -39.71 kcal/mol and -23.23 kcal/mol, respectively. These findings suggest that brazilin may modulate critical targets involved in breast cancer progression, particularly in hormone receptor-positive subtypes. Further experimental validation is necessary to confirm its efficacy and optimize its therapeutic potential.
