Abstract

The availability of blood with unbalanced blood needs causes blood service facilities to lack blood stock. The deferral in donating blood is one of the reasons for the shortage of blood stock. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of donors who experienced deferral in donating blood due to haemoglobin levels at UDD PMI Bojonegoro Regency in 2019–2022. The research design used is descriptive-quantitative through a secondary data survey. Data was obtained from the SIMDONDAR application regarding the number and characteristics of donors who experienced deferral in donor selection due to haemoglobin levels at UDD PMI Bojonegoro Regency during the 2019–2022 period. The data were analysed descriptively and presented in the form of tables and graphs. The results showed that the delay in donor selection was due to haemoglobin levels at UDD PMI Bojonegoro Regency for the 2019–2022 period, with as many as 3,385 donors with low haemoglobin levels totaling 2,492 people and 893 people with high haemoglobin levels. Characteristics of donors who experience delays in donating blood due to haemoglobin levels at UDD PMI Bojonegoro Regency in 2019–2022, based on age: most occur at the age of 25–44 years with a total of 198 people (51%); the most gender is female with a total of 208 people (54%); blood type occurs in O (+) in 148 people (38%); and type of work occurs in private employees in 138 people (36%).

Abstract

Generation Z learners, born into an era of ubiquitous digital technology, require robust digital-literacy skills to participate effectively in education and society. However, many students in Islamic elementary schools (madrasah ibtidaiyah) still struggle with basic computer operation, especially when confronted with computer-based testing environments. This study aimed to upgrade the digital literacy of female students at MI Al Fatah II through a structured, hands-on Basic Computer Training (BCT) program. The training emphasized fundamental computer use, file management, text editing, and online-examination simulation. A participatory action-research design was adopted, involving 25 students over three weeks. Quantitative data were collected via pre- and post-tests, and qualitative data through observation and reflective interviews. The average literacy score increased from 48.2 to 86.7, yielding a normalized gain of 0.74 (high effectiveness). Students also exhibited enhanced self-confidence and ethical awareness in digital environments. The findings highlight that gender-responsive, context-based digital-literacy programs can effectively prepare young learners in faith-based schools to engage in online learning ecosystems and align with Indonesia’s Merdeka Belajar policy and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 4 & 9).

Abstract

The rapid progress of information and communication technology in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution demands that younger generations possess strong technological literacy to adapt effectively to ongoing digital transformation. This study aims to enhance students’ technological literacy at SMPN 1 Karangrejo through socialization and practical activities using appropriate technology (AT). The research adopts a participatory descriptive method involving 40 junior high school students. The activities consist of four stages: preliminary observation, interactive socialization, hands-on construction of appropriate technology tools, and evaluation. Quantitative results show an average technological literacy increase of 35.2% with a normalized gain score of 0.71, indicating high effectiveness. Qualitative findings reveal enhanced student motivation, creativity, collaboration, and environmental awareness. The study demonstrates that project-based AT learning effectively transforms students’ technological understanding and attitudes, making it replicable in other schools with local adjustments.

Abstract

Maritime traffic management in major ports requires a comprehensive understanding of vessel movement patterns to ensure operational efficiency and safety. This study presents a spatio-temporal analysis of vessel traffic in Kaohsiung Port, Taiwan, utilizing a 10-month snapshot of AIS data (December 2024–October 2025). Employing quantitative methods including Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) for spatial intensity mapping, grid-based discretization for traffic density quantification, and temporal resolution analysis at multiple scales, the research identifies key operational hotspots and peak traffic periods. The analysis encompasses 1,247,890 AIS records from diverse vessel types, revealing distinct spatial clustering patterns in port entrance channels, anchorage zones, and terminal areas. Temporal analysis demonstrates pronounced diurnal and weekly cyclical patterns, with peak traffic intensities occurring during daytime operational hours and weekdays, reflecting commercial shipping schedules and port operational rhythms. The KDE-based hotspot identification reveals high-density zones concentrated within 0.5 nautical miles of major container terminals, indicating critical areas requiring enhanced traffic monitoring and collision avoidance measures. Grid-based traffic density quantification provides granular insights into vessel distribution across different port sectors, enabling zone-specific risk assessment and resource allocation strategies. The findings reveal complex spatio-temporal patterns that reflect the port's role as a major container hub in the Asia-Pacific region. Despite data quality limitations such as unspecified vessel types (59.9%) and incomplete destination fields, the results provide actionable insights for port authorities to enhance safety, optimize operations, and support strategic planning. This methodological framework demonstrates scalability and transferability to other port environments, contributing to the advancement of data-driven maritime traffic management systems
