Abstract

Believe in formative assessment is very important to increase the students’ achievement, and to increase not only the quantities of students but also the qualities of them.  This research aims to explore the teachers’ beliefs in the use of formative assessment based on K13 (2013 curriculum). By using qualitative approach, this case study utilized classroom observations and individual semi-structured interviews with data analyzed. Three junior high schools English teachers as sampled in this research and result of the research showed that basically all the teachers believed in the use of formative assessment to motivate the students’ achievement. However, in implementing it based on K13 (2013),  it was limited by the students’ background knowledge. The findings show that there were gaps between the  definitions believed by the teachers to the application of the formative assessment in the classroom.

Abstract

This study investigates the challenges encountered by English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students in developing High-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), with a specific focus on the formulation of thesis statements in essay writing. As proficient essay writing necessitates the application of critical thinking skills, we examine the hurdles faced by EFL students during this cognitive process. Through a comprehensive analysis, this research sheds light on the specific difficulties and explores potential avenues for enhancing HOTS development in the context of thesis statement construction. The findings contribute valuable insights to pedagogical strategies aimed at fostering advanced cognitive skills among EFL learners. Thus, this study tried to analyze students’ thesis statement . The results of analysis revealed that students’ thesis statements could be categorized into good thesis statements. Based on the 14 students’ thesis statement in their essay the students’ score got 70.71, with categories as good.  And the results also show that the average level of the students’ analyzing (C4) tends to be higher compared than the evaluating (C5) and creating (C6) levels, namely 85.71 (C4), 78.57 (C5), and 55.35 (C6).

Abstract

This study aims to investigate EFL learners’ difficulties in writing the introduction to a research proposal. We conducted this study using a survey research design. The subjects of this study were thirty-six learners and the instrument used is a questionnaire. The findings revealed that the learners' total score for agreement with the challenges in writing the Introduction section of a research proposal was 117.75, indicating neutral conditions. It was confirmed by an overall percentage of 65.4%. It indicates that learners do not have a strong judgment about the difficulties of writing an introduction to a research proposal. This neutral condition could indicate perplexity, doubt, or a lack of trust in their abilities. The most difficult components for learners were explaining the origins of the problem or topic in their introduction section, as well as presenting an explanation for the gap. They use some of the best methods to solve their problems, such as reading a lot of relevant sources, discussing with the professor, friends, or others, and employing technology. It is intended that by giving additional help, support, and relevant resources, learners will be able to overcome these challenges and improve their writing skills.

Abstract

The research consists of three research problems; (1) in what way is Instagram used, (2) what is the character of students, and (3) is there significant effect of Instagram toward the students’ character in class X at SMA Negeri 3 Parepare. The research applied survey research. The technique of data collection used questionnaire, interview, and observation. The population of the research involved as many as 46 class X students. The result of the research revealed (1) that the intensity of the use of Instagram by the students of class X of SMA Negeri 3 Parepare was in high category. It was shown by the questionnaire result which was 45, 2%. The value was in the interval between 26% - 50% which was high, (2) The character of the class X students of SMA Negeri 3 Parepare was in good category. It was shown by the questionnaire result which was 49, 8 %. The value was in the interval between 26% - 50% which was good, (3) The effect of Instagram toward the character of class X students of SMA Negeri 3 Parepare can be concluded having positive effect based on the calculation using product moment and interview technique. As general reveal of the research, the intensity of the use of Instagram has positive effect toward the character of class X students of SMA Negeri 3 Parepare

Abstract

This research aims to determine the form, impact and differences in impacts experienced by male and female students who are victims of bullying on the mental health of elementary school (SD) students. So the focus of this research study is (1) the forms of bullying that occur in Malang City Elementary Schools (SD) (2) the impact on mental health (3) the differences in impacts experienced by male and female students who are victims of bullying. This research uses qualitative research methods with a case study type. The research subjects who were the targets of the research were 2 elementary school students who were victims of bullying, namely 1 boy and 1 girl, the parents of each of the two victims and the teacher at school. Data collection through interviews and observations. The research results revealed that the forms of bullying that occurred at the research location were (a) physical bullying in the form of pushing friends, hitting, taking things and fighting. (b) verbal form in the form of calling friends with bad names, threatening and shouting. (c) a form of relational bullying in the form of isolating and slandering. The impacts experienced by victims due to bullying behavior are stress, trauma, difficulty concentrating on studying, unstable emotional conditions (tantrums, frequent crying), difficulties in socializing, fear of socializing, shutting down, lack of self-confidence, likes to be alone, anxiety. the high one. In general, the impacts experienced by male and female students who are victims of bullying do not show any differences. Keywords: Mental Health, Bullying, Elementary School Students

Abstract

This research aims to provide an overview of the quality of Islamic Education learning in the minority Islamic environment of SMKN 1 North Toraja. It seeks to understand the role of Islamic Education teachers in maintaining the quality of Islamic Education learning in the minority setting of SMKN 1 North Toraja and identify the challenges faced by Islamic Education teachers in maintaining the quality of learning in the minority environment of SMKN 1 North Toraja. The research type employed is qualitative (Field Research) conducted at SMKN 1 North Toraja, utilizing a Descriptive Qualitative approach. Research instruments consist of observation guidelines, interview guidelines, and documentation guidelines. Data collection procedures encompass observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification. The research findings are as follows: 1) The quality of learning at SMKN 1 North Toraja is still lacking due to Islamic Education teachers not fully adhering to the lesson plan (RPP) because students have minimal knowledge of Islam and low intellectual abilities. 2) Islamic Education teachers not only teach and guide students but also provide support, acting as motivators and administrators. Importantly, Islamic Education teachers play a role as a second parent for students within the school environment. 3) Challenges faced by Islamic Education teachers in maintaining the quality of learning include students' lack of interest in learning Islamic Education, insufficient knowledge about Islam among students, and environmental factors affecting the quality of learning, particularly in a minority context."

Abstract

Literasi numerasi merupakan salah satu kemampuan dasar penting untuk dikembangkan sejak usia dini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan media loose parts dalam meningkatkan literasi numerasi anak usia dini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode tindakan kelas. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi observasi, dokumentasi, dan catatan penilaian kegiatan anak. Subjek penelitian adalah anak usia 5-6 kelompok B di TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal IV Kota Parepare. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa transformasi media loose parts secara terstruktur terencana dan kontekstual dapat meningkatkan kemampuan literasi numerasi anak dari 89% anak yang belum berkembang (BB) meningkat menjadi 95% anak berkembang sangat baik (BSB) dari siklus I ke siklus II melalui permainan angka dan menyusun abjad. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa guru perlu memanfaatkan media loose parts sebagai strategi pembelajaran yang menyenangkan dalam pengembangan literasi numerasi anak usia dini di masa selanjutnya.

Abstract

Pengembangan potensi desa merupakan salah satu cara strategis dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat pedesaan, terutama diera digital saat ini. Teknologi informasu (TI) menjadi sarana yang efektif untuk memfasilitasi transformasi desa menjadi lebih produktif dan mandiri. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat yang kami lakukan bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi peran teknologi informasi dalam mengoptimalkan potensi desa, baik dari segi ekonomi, sosial, maupun budaya masyarakt yang ada di desa. Melalui pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini tentunya diharapkan bisa memberikan kontribusi yang besar bagi masyarakat yang ada didesa untuk lebih meningkatkan pemahamannya terkait pemanfaatan internet, platform digital, dan aplikasi berbasis teknologi serta potensi desa seperti bidang kelautan, pertanian, parwisata, serta sumber daya lokal lainnya yang bisa menjadi lahan pendapat atau peningkatan kesejahteraan perekonomian yang bisa mereka promosikan secara luas dan efesien. Selain itu, penerapan IT juga memungkinkan terjalinnya komunikasi yang lebih baik antara masyarakat desa dan pemerintahan dalam rencana pembangunan, serta memudahkan akses terhadap informasi dan pasar global. Hasil kegiatan PkM menunjukkan bahwa melalui teknologi informasi mampu mempercepat pertumbuhan ekonomi desa, membuka wawasan yang baru terkait lapangan kerja baru, serta dapat kesejahteraan hidup masyarakat desa.

Abstract

This paper presents on removal of silver nanoparticles using phytoremediation. In this study, floating macrophyte (Pistia stratiotes) was used for phytoremediation of silver nanoparticles. This study investigated the performance of Pistia stratiotes in the removal of silver nanoparticles using phytoremediation method. The silver nanoparticles were green synthesized by using Muntingia calabura sp. leaves as reducing and stabilizing agent. The silver nanoparticles were successful synthesized as a peak appeared at wavelength 450 nm by UV-Vis spectrophotometer, while Pistia stratiotes had been acclimatized in tank at laboratory. Similar size of Pistia stratiotes had been employed for investigation. Each selected Pistia stratiotes was placed in 5 L bottles water containing different concentration (0.5 ppm, 1.0 ppm, 2.0 ppm and 3.0 ppm) of silver nanoparticles. This study was evaluated using UV-Vis spectrophotometer for five days. The results showed that the highest removal was achieved 69.88% at concentration of 0.5 ppm. This percentage removal relatively decreased up to 55.61% as concentration increase at 3.0 ppm. These results prescribed that phytoremediation of silver nanoparticles by Pistia stratiotes can be considered to apply and implement in water environment for AgNPs removal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis implementasi pendidikan multikultural berbasis Islam di SMPN 2 Makale di Tana Toraja, sebuah wilayah yang mayoritas non-Muslim namun memiliki komunitas Muslim minoritas. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif studi kasus, data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dengan kepala sekolah, guru Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI), siswa Muslim, tokoh agama/masyarakat, serta orang tua. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sekolah telah menerapkan pendidikan multikultural secara integratif melalui kebijakan sekolah yang inklusif, strategi pembelajaran PAI berbasis nilai dan kontekstual, serta kegiatan lintas agama yang menumbuhkan toleransi. Nilai-nilai Islam universal seperti keadilan, kasih sayang, dan toleransi dikontekstualisasikan dengan budaya lokal Toraja, seperti siangga (saling menghargai), sikamali (saling merindukan), dan siangkara (saling menolong). Tantangan utama adalah keterbatasan guru dalam mengintegrasikan multikulturalisme ke dalam pembelajaran dan pengaruh pola pikir intoleran dari luar sekolah. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya kolaborasi sekolah, keluarga, dan masyarakat dalam memperkuat pendidikan multikultural berbasis Islam.
