Abstract

Abstract A library is a working unit that has a place to collect, manage, store, and organize a collection of library materials regularly, and has the purpose of being used by libraries as a pleasant source of information or learning. Collections on libraries should therefore be arranged and processed to the best of their ability in order for information to be stored and used quickly and appropriately. On libraries it is also mandatory to have an information re-meeting system. Of the many key tasks on the system for information re-establishment from library ownership is processing library materials often referred to as cataloging. Catalogue itself has a meaning which is the process of creating a catalog containing data from a collection, both from the physical perspective of the book and the contents of the collection. The writing of this article aims to find out how the catalog utilizes in processing library materials on the library owned by Mr. Hj. Oo. One way is to do cataloging activities on the library. Catalogueing library materials makes library materials on library collections systematically neat and can be recovered quickly and accurately. In addition, the power of cataloging library materials has a great influence on the success of library tasks and functions. Therefore, cataloguing activities should be done professionally. The research conducted on this article uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Mr. Hj. Oo's library has many unprocessed library materials by conducting cataloging activities on the library. After cataloging activities were carried out on the library owned by Mr. Hj. Oo made the library systematically organized. Therefore, cataloging activity is a powerful way to embed existing library materials on the library owned by Mr. Hj. Oo.Keywords: Catalouguing; Library; Library Materials; Processing Abstrak Perpustakaan ialah unit kerja yang mempunyai tempat untuk mengumpulkan, mengelola, menyimpan, serta mengatur koleksi bahan pustaka dengan teratur, dan mempunyai tujuan untuk digunakan oleh para pemustaka sebagai sumber informasi atau sarana pembelajaran yang menyenangkan. Oleh karena itu, koleksi pada perpustakaan harus diatur dan diolah sebaik mungkin agar informasi dapat disimpan dan digunakan dengan cepat dan tepat. Pada perpustakaan juga diwajibkan memiliki sistem temu kembali informasi. Dari banyaknya tugas utama pada sistem temu kembali informasi dari kepemilikan perpustakaan ialah mengolah bahan perpustakaan yang sering disebut sebagai katalogisasi. Katalogisasi sendiri mempunya arti yaitu adalah proses pembuatan katalog yang memuat data-data dari suatu koleksi, baik dari segi fisik buku maupun isi dari koleksi buku tersebut. Penulisan artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pemanfaatan katalog dalam mengolah bahan pustaka pada perpustakaan milik Pak Hj. Oo. Salah satu caranya ialah melakukan kegiatan pengkatalogkan pada perpustakaan tersebut. Katalogisasi bahan pustaka membuat bahan pustaka pada koleksi perpustakaan menjadi tertata rapih secara sistematis dan dapat ditemukan kembali dengan cepat serta akurat. Selain itu, kekuatan katalogisasi bahan pustaka mempunyai pengaruh yang besar pada keberhasilan tugas serta fungsi perpustakaan. Maka dari itu, kegiatan katalogisasi harus dilakukan secara profesional. Penelitian yang dilakukan pada artikel ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Pada perpustakaan milik Pak Hj. Oo mempunyai banyak bahan pustaka yang belum diolah dengan melakukan kegiatan katalogisasi pada perpustakaan tersebut. Setelah kegiatan katalogisasi dilakukan pada perpustakaan milik pak Hj. Oo menjadikan perpustakaan tersebut tertata rapih secara sistematis. Abstract

The application of information technology in the library comes along with the development of human culture itself. The application of IT in libraries can function in various forms, including as a library management system that can be integrated with a library management system. Senayan Library Management System or Senayan or SLiMS is software that handles free library management with open source code. SLiMS has various features, such as Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), digital content/files, Bibliography/catalog database management, integrated catalog creation, serial publication control, integrated search engine creation, document item management with barcode support, master file management and support circulation. This study aims to see the benefits of using SLiMS in processing library materials at the State Elementary School of Jurumudi 1 Library. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach through case studies in the field. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, literature, and document study. The results indicate that SLiMS facilitates the processing of library materials in SDN Jurumudi 1. The use of SLiMS speeds up the processing of library materials compared to conventional systems.

Abstract

Layanan perpustakaan menjadi penentu optimalnya sebuah perpustakaan. Kesulitan pemustaka dalam melakukan penelusuran informasi menjadi acuan bagi perpustakaan untuk berkembang sesuai perubahan. Untuk itu perlu menelaah secara mendalam untuk mengetahui perkembangan pelayanan perpustakaan perguruan tinggi di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah narrative literature review dari rujukan yang berkaitan dengan pelayanan perpustakaan perguruan tinggi. Rujukan yang dianalisis sebanyak 12 rujukan yang ditelusuri menggunakan database Google Scholar dengan rentang waktu penerbitan tahun 2013 hingga 2023. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelayanan perpustakaan dibagi menjadi dua, yaitu layanan teknis dan layanan pengguna. Pada pelayanan teknis terjadi proses pengolahan bahan pustaka sebelum dilayankan, sedangkan layanan pengguna merupakan layanan yang berhubungan langsung dengan pemustaka, seperti: layanan ruang baca, layanan sirkulasi, layanan referensi, OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), dll. Inovasi layanan perpustakaan dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan media sosial dan website. Inovasi yang dikembangkan yaitu pembangunan perpustakaan digital, layanan ask librarian, layanan book delivery, serta adanya layanan library movie show. Dampak yang dirasakan oleh pemustaka dengan layanan digital yaitu: kegiatan penelusuran informasi dilakukan dengan nyaman, mudah, cepat, dan tepat sesuai dengan kebutuhan pemustaka. Kesimpulannya, pelayanan perpustakaan perguruan tinggi sudah berkembang seiring perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi. The Development of College Library Services. Library services determine the optimization of a library. Users' difficulty searching for information becomes a reference for the library to develop according to changes. For this reason, it is necessary to examine the development of higher education library services in Indonesia in depth. The method used in this research is a narrative literature review of references related to college library services. The 12 references analyzed were traced using the Google Scholar database, which had a publishing period from 2013 to 2023. The results showed that library services are divided into two, namely technical services and user services. In technical services, library materials are processed before being served. In contrast, user services are services directly related to users, such as reading room services, circulation services, reference services, OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), etc. Library service innovation is carried out by utilizing social media and websites. Innovations developed are digital library development, ask librarian service, book delivery service, and library movie show service. The impact felt by users with digital services is information search activities are carried out comfortably, easily, quickly, and precisely according to user needs. In conclusion, university library services have developed along with information and communication technology development.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Perkembangan teknologi informasi yang pesat telah mengubah cara orang mencari, mengakses, dan menggunakan informasi. Salah satu teori yang relevan untuk mengkaji perilaku pencarian informasi mahasiswa adalah Teori ASK (Anomalous State of Knowledge) yang diperkenalkan oleh J. Belkin pada 1985. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk mengetahui Mahasiswa Teknik Geologi yang dijadikan subjek penelitian memiliki pengetahuan yang statis atau dinamis dengan melihat dari pencarian informasinya yang juga statis atau dinamis. Pencarian informasi statis diibaratkan diam, hanya seputar di topik itu saja dan terus berputar di satu topik. Pencarian informasi dinamis ditunjukan dengan berkembangnya topik atau informasi yang sedang dicari. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei yang mana mengumpulkan data responden sebanyak 161 responden menggunakan instrumen kuesioner dengan individu sebagai unit sampel penelitiannya. Pendekatan kuantitatif merupakan mengumpulkan data responden menggunakan instrumen kuesioner dengan individu sebagai unit penelitiannya. Kuesioner dibuat online dalam bentuk google form dan didistribusikan langsung melalui WhatsApp kepada setiap responden. Hasil: Berdasarkan hasil dari penelitian yang dilakukan terhadap Mahasiswa Teknik Geologi mengenai perilaku pencarian informasi statis atau dinamis yang merupakan kajian teori ASK (Anomalous State of Knowledge), pengujian hipotesis yang dilakukan dengan pengujian korelasi Pearson Product Moment menggunakan software SPSS menunjukan bahwa Mahasiswa Teknik Geologi lebih dominan terhadap pencarian informasi dinamis. Kesimpulan: Pengetahuan dinamis akan berdampak pada pola pikir kritis dalam pencarian informasi dan mampu mengeksplor dan mengintegrasikan informasi yang relevan dari berbagai sumber untuk mendukung kebutuhan informasinya.   Background: The rapid development of information technology has changed the way people search, access and use information. One of the relevant theories to examine students' information seeking behavior is the ASK (Anomalous State of Knowledge) theory introduced by J. Belkin in 1985. Purpose: This study aims to determine whether Geological Engineering Students who are used as research subjects have static or dynamic knowledge by looking at their information searches which are also static or dynamic. The questionnaire was made online in the form of a Google form and distributed directly via WhatsApp to each respondent. Static information search is likened to silence, only about that topic and continues to revolve around one topic. Dynamic information search is indicated by the development of the topic or information being sought. Methods: This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method which collects respondent data as many as 161 respondents using a questionnaire instrument with individuals as the research sample unit. The quantitative approach is to collect respondent data using a questionnaire instrument with individuals as the research unit.. Results: Based on the results of research conducted on geology students regarding static or dynamic information-seeking behavior which is a study of ASK (Anomalous State of Knowledge) theory, hypothesis testing conducted with Pearson Product Moment correlation testing using SPSS software shows that Geology Students are more dominant in dynamic information seeking. Conclusion: Dynamic knowledge will have an impact on a critical mindset in searching for information and being able to explore and integrate relevant information from various sources to support their information needs.

Abstract

Preservation is a series of activities that include maintenance, care, preservation, and prevention of collection materials. The essence of the existence of preservation activities is to ensure that the information content is in a good condition to be used or accessed in an unspecified time. The purpose of this study is to determine the preservation activities carried out on collection materials at the IKOPIN University Library. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. The data collection techniques used in this research are interviews, observation, and literature study. Interviews were conducted with 2 resource persons, namely the Head of the IKOPIN University Library and the user. Interviews and observations were carried out directly. The data analysis carried out is the data analysis model by Miles and Huberman which consists of 3 stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. The results of the study show that the IKOPIN Library has carried out a series of preservation activities. The activities carried out were packaging books with plastic covers, bookbinding, cleaning book collections, transfer of collection materials, environmental control, temperature regulation, lighting regulation, hygiene monitoring, and awareness training on preservation activities. In the research conducted, it was also found that the factors causing damage to collections in the IKOPIN library were the main factors, namely book characteristics and human factors. The conclusion from the research is that the IKOPIN library has an awareness of the importance of preservation activities, therefore the IKOPIN library has carried out preservation activities both actively, passively, and preventively. The preservation implementation found 2 obstacles, namely in the field of HR (Human Resources) and the field of funding.

Abstract

IKOPIN and Al-Mas'oem University Libraries are university libraries that play an important role in supporting implementation of  Tri-Dharma of higher education. In order to fulfill this function, it is impossible for university libraries to act independently. Cooperation is needed in fulfillment, improvement, development, procurement and promotion of the services provided by the library to its users. This research aims to see how cooperation and impact of organizational structure in the cooperation carried out by IKOPIN Library and Al-Mas'oem University in meeting the information needs of users. This research has been conducted using a qualitative approach through a case study research instrument through observation, interviews, and literature studies. The process is carried out with the existence of MoA, MoU and discussions related to the collaboration. The impact of the cooperation between IKOPIN Library and Al-Mas'oem University can be seen in the improvement of quality and services that mainly affect users and librarians through cross borrowing services, librarian comparative studies, information exchange and joint collection procurement. In practice, the cooperation between the two libraries has not been successful. The unsuccessful cooperation between the two libraries is caused by many things, but the most likely is the inappropriate organizational structure implemented.

Abstract

The development of libraries from conventional to digital-based libraries has brought significant impacts on the way library services are provided and accessed by users. However, along with its benefits, digital libraries face new challenges related to data security and user privacy such as effective protection of personal data. This research aims to analyze security and privacy threats in digital library services and identify the implementation of security technologies and privacy policies in this context. This research uses the narrative literature review method to analyze 12 references relevant to the topic of information security and user privacy in digital library services. This research has security and privacy risks involved in digital library services, how security technologies are implemented, and how privacy regulations and policies impact the situation. Results show that virus attacks and brute force attacks are some of the security threats of digital libraries. To protect sensitive user data, the use of security technologies such as data encryption and the use of firewalls are also very important. Privacy regulations and policies such as GDPR go a long way in helping digital libraries maintain the privacy of their users. This analysis enhances our understanding of the problems and solutions in data security management and user privacy in digital library services. Thus, this research highlights the importance of managing information security and user privacy in the context of digital library services to ensure optimal protection of sensitive user data.

Abstract

Circulation service is a service to the circulation of library materials owned by the library. Generally regarding member registration, borrowing, returns, extension of time, and making statistics. The purpose of writing this article is to find out the role of librarians and innovation in circulation services in college libraries. This study uses the method of literature study or narrative literature review from five references originating from the Google Scholar database, spanning 2013-2023. Based on the results of the analysis, there are several problems in circulation services in tertiary institutions. This problem is usually related to budgetary funds, human resources, lack of information and technology systems, user behavior, and management of the circulation service system. In this case, librarians have an important role to be responsible for managing, operating, and developing information systems and circulation services, as well as various obstacles and problems in libraries. Therefore, innovation and collaboration are needed in tertiary library circulation services with careful consideration from a cost-to-utilization perspective, as well as periodic evaluations to test the success and effectiveness of these innovations.Keywords: College Library, Circulation Services, Librarian

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine how the role of interpersonal communication between librarians and users in libraries through the narrative literature review method with four references taken through the Google Scholer and Dimensions database from 2013 to 2023. The results of this study show that librarians have an important role in interpersonal communication between librarians and users in libraries.  Because interpersonal or interpersonal communication is the delivery of information or a message involving two or more people through direct interaction so that it may get verbal or nonverbal reactions that are useful in establishing positive good relationships between librarians and users, avoiding conflicts that may occur due to misunderstandings, and avoiding users from negative perceptions about librarians.  In which there are often obstacles such as misperceptions created by users to librarians or vice versa, lack of librarian sensitivity to user needs, and information that has not been conveyed properly.  however, it can be straightened out by effective interpersonal communication applied with a librarian skill in understanding the meaning of equality, positivity, supportiveness, empathy, and openness. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pustakawan  komunikasi interpersonal antara pustakawan dengan pemustaka memiliki peran penting dalam perpustakaan. karena komunikasi interpersonal atau antar pribadi merupakan penyampaian informasi atau suatu pesan melibatkan dua orang atau lebih melalui interaksi secara langsung sehingga mungkin mendapatkan reaksi secara verbal maupun nonverbal yang bermanfaat dalam menjalin hubungan baik yang postitif antara pustakawan dengan pemustaka, menghindari konflik yang mungkin terjadi sebab kesalahpahaman, dan menghindarkan pemustaka dari presepsi negative mengenai pustakawan. Yang dimana didalamnya sering terjadi hambatan seperti kesalahan presepsi yang diciptakan pemustaka terhadap pustakawan atau sebaliknya, kurangnya kepekaan pustakawan terhadap kebutuhan pemustaka, dan informasi-informasi yang belum tersampaikan dengan baik. namun hal tersebut dapat diluruskan dengan komunikasi interpersonal efektif yang diterapkan dengan suatu keterampilan pustakawan dalam memahami arti dari adanya kesetaraan (equality), Rasapositif (positiveness), Dukungan (supportiveness) Empati (empathy), dan Keterbukaan (openness).Kata Kunci: Komunikasi Interpersonal; Pemustaka; Pustakawan

Abstract

The Pabukon Ngadongeng Community Reading Park is a library that has storytelling services to enhance children's literacy and cultural knowledge. Volunteers assisted the Community Reading Park to develop children's creativity and imagination with stories. This research aimed to determine the meaning of storytelling among volunteers at the Pabukon Ngadongeng Community Reading Park by analyzing the experience and meaning of storytelling. The research method used qualitative with a phenomenology approach. The study result showed that the experience of storytelling for volunteers consisted of expanding children's story reading, interaction with readers, language development, cultivating imagination, creativity, entertainment, and sharing knowledge. The meaning of storytelling in the volunteers consisted of volunteers' motivation, the impact of storytelling on volunteers, the impact of storytelling on the relationship with readers, contributions of storytelling to volunteers' personal development, and the involvement of volunteers in the development of the Community Reading Park. It also included challenges and obstacles faced by volunteers in storytelling, volunteers' perception of the impact of storytelling on children's education and literacy, meaningful storytelling, teaching without preaching and preserving cultural stories. In conclusion, volunteers have assisted Pabukon Ngadongeng Community Reading Park with storytelling services for children. Children have imagination and creativity, and their language development improves. Volunteers provide fun learning experiences for children through storytelling, including practicing reading and writing literacy programs for children.
