Abstract

Purpose – The present study aims to analyze personal characteristics that potentially affect the belief in co-production leadership and its effect on behavior based on the belief. This study also attempted to determine the impact of the leadership romance role on the relationship between coproduction leadership and the intention to obey the leader. Design/methodology/approach – The research used a survey method with a quantitative approach. Out of 250 distributed questionnaires, only 149 questionnaires met the criteria. Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to test the proposed hypotheses. Findings – The result of the study showed that the values of collectivism positively associated with the co-production leadership belief. However, the study also found that the values of individualism had no significant effect on the co-production leadership belief. Surprisingly, the result also showed that the co-production leadership belief positively affected the leader's intention to obey. Research limitations/implications – This study addressed political parties as the object of the study, so thoroughness in generalizing the result of the study to other objects is needed. The study's design is cross-sectional, which limits the researcher's in-depth analysis of workplace violence phenomena since the data being studied is only based on one period of time. Lastly, the data for analysis were limited to the respondents’ responses to statements in the questionnaire. More information could be obtained by conducting an in-depth interview with the respondents. Practical implications – The result of this study indicated that the romance of leadership moderates the relationship between the co-production leadership and the intention to obey the leader. This study opens new avenues for research on organizational cynicism and carries implications for theory and practice. Originality/value – This study attempts to answer the question about whether each individual with different characteristics (high values on individualism-collectivism) possess a different belief related to followership role orientation (i.e. co-production leadership). The study also examines whether this belief determines followers' behavior on leadership process.

Abstract

Improving community economic well-being based on community empowerment plays an important role in rural development. This study aims to determine the ability of social enterprises in Indonesia (Village-Owned Enterprises/BUMDes) to improve the community's economic well-being through empowerment programs and the role of social capital in rural community development. At social conditions at the basic level, very little attention is paid to the development of deprived communities. Starting from the experience of rural community economic empowerment programs through the establishment of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in Indonesia, this study will test three hypotheses: (1) whether there is an effect between community empowerment and the economic well-being of rural communities; (2) is there an effect between social capital and the economic well-being of rural communities; and (3) is the effect between community empowerment and economic well-being mediated by social capital? Multiple regression analysis is used to examine the effect between community empowerment and community economic well-being. This analysis highlights the central role of social capital in mediating the effect between community empowerment and economic well-being. Community empowerment is significantly related to social capital. These effects between social capital, community empowerment, and economic well-being apply to theories and measures of rural community empowerment.

Abstract

Nutmeg plantations in the Banda Islands, Central Maluku, had an important value in the early history of industrial development in Indonesia. The operational management of planting, maintaining, picking, processing, distribution and exercising power are some lessons learned. Plantations at that time also required various forms of human resource management, ranging from recruitment, division of labor, supervision and discipline of its workers. In this case the material culture reflects the mindset of the builders and managers of the time. Through descriptive qualitative methods, disciplinary problems related to the management of the nutmeg plantations are discussed by linking the concepts of technofact, sociofacts, ideofacts in archeology with the concept of panopticon as a disciplinary model proposed by Foucault. The goal is to explore the values that can be applied to the present from the remnants associated with the nutmeg plantations of the Banda Islands. The results obtained are related to the discipline model with archeological remains related to the management of nutmeg plantations. The concept of panopticon is still relevant today, with necessary modifications in the form of cultural products, and adjustments in the development of technology and information.

Abstract

The demographic and geographical conditions of the community are thought to have an influence on technology acceptance. However, there are not many studies which have evaluated the demographic and geographical conditions of the community in terms of the use of technology, especially application-based technology that directly interacts with the community. This study uses a modified technology acceptance model (TAM) as a theoretical framework. This case study investigates whether community demographics and geography influence the acceptance of Shopee Paylater among the people of Solo Raya. The model was validated using a questionnaire obtained from an online survey in the former Surakarta Residency as a representative for the people of Solo Raya. The results show that demographic conditions such as gender, age, and income and geographical conditions of residence have no significant influence on the technology acceptance model (TAM), which means demographic and geographical differences have no impact on the acceptance of technology within Solo society, especially the Shopee Paylater application. It is because there are no differences in access to technology or income levels in the Solo Raya. This research also shows that in a society that is relatively modern and has access to adequate infrastructure, it tends to be adaptive to new technology.

Abstract

Poverty is a problem that affects most countries in the world, including Indonesia. Central Java Province is a region on the island of Java that occupies the second position with the highest poverty rate compared to other provinces on the island of Java. The problem of poverty must be addressed immediately so that an analysis of the factors that influence poverty is needed so that it is hoped that poverty alleviation programs can be right on target. This research aims to examine the influence of industrial growth, HDI, population and GDI on poverty levels in Central Java Province in 2011-2020. The data used is panel data which is analyzed using Random Effect Model panel data regression with a total of 35 regencies/cities in Central Java as research objects. The processing results show that there is a negative and significant influence between Industrial Growth, HDI and GDI on Poverty Levels. Meanwhile, population size does not have a significant influence on poverty levels. This means that with industrial growth, HDI and GDI development can reduce the severity of poverty. The Central Java Provincial Government must create a good environment for the growth and development of industrialization, as well as increasing gender-oriented human development.
