Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine: the feasibility of project-based learning-oriented student worksheets in terms of content validity and construct validity, and the effectiveness of   project-based learning-oriented student worksheets in terms of increasing students' creative thinking skills. Development of Project-Based Learning oriented student worksheets to improve students' creative thinking skills on class X high school nanotechnology material using the Research and Development (R&D) method with a 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). However, this research was carried out only until the third stage, namely Develop. The results of data analysis and discussion are as follows: the worksheets of project-based learning-oriented students developed are declared to have met the eligibility requirements in terms of content validity and construct validity with mode (Mo) values ≥ 4 and R ≥ 75%, and student worksheets project-oriented based learning developed was declared effective in terms of increasing students' creative thinking ability with a percentage of N-Gain of 79% moderate category (0.30-0.70) and 21% high category (0.7-1). Thus, Project Based Learning Oriented Student Worksheets can be used to improve students' creative thinking skills on Nanotechnology material.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify students misconceptions regarding the law of conservation of mass and to examine the effectiveness of laboratory activities in reducing these misconceptions. The study employed a quantitative descriptive using a Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest Design involving 33 students of class X-2 at SMAN 11 Surabaya. The study was conducted in one experimental class without a control group. The research instrument used was a three-tier diagnostic test consisting of the categories understanding, misconception, not understanding, and uncertainty. Data were collected through observation, documentation, pretest and posttest. Data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and N-gain calculation with the assistance of SPSS version 32. The results showed that the percentage of students experiencing misconceptions decreased from 82% in the pretest to 3% in the posttest, while the percentage of students in the understanding category increased from 15% to 97%. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed a significance value of <0,001, indicating that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. In addition, the average N-gain score was 0,9294, which falls into the high category. These findings indicate that the implementation of a mass comparison laboratory activity was effective in reducing students misconceptions and improving their understanding of the law of conservation of mass through direct empirical learning experiences and conceptual reconstruction.

Abstract

Misconceptions about chemical reaction rates often persist because the topic involves abstract processes that are difficult to visualize through conventional instruction. This study developed and evaluated an Augmented Reality (AR) based interactive flipbook for reaction rate learning, focusing on validity, practicality, and initial effectiveness in reducing misconceptions and supporting conceptual change. Research and Development (R and D) was conducted using a modified 4D model limited to the define, design, and develop stages. Content and construct validity were assessed by chemistry education experts, learning media experts, and chemistry teachers. Practicality was examined through student response questionnaires and observations of learning activities. Effectiveness was measured using a three tier diagnostic test, with pretest and posttest results analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and effect size. Expert evaluation indicated that the flipbook met validity criteria, with mode scores of at least 4 across all assessed aspects. Practicality outcomes were high, reflected by a 90.11% questionnaire score and 95.87% activity observation score. The intervention reduced average misconceptions by 55.72%, supported by a significant difference (p < 0.05) and a very large effect size (0.846). Results suggest AR integrated flipbooks can strengthen visualization of reaction rate concepts and facilitate conceptual change by directly targeting common misconceptions. Further studies with broader implementation are recommended to strengthen generalizability.
