Abstract

Power transmission line is one of the pivotal parts of a power system. It connects power generation house with the consumer even in the long distances. Research on current diffusion on the conductor is inevitable to maximize the power dispatch on transmission line. The main purpose of this study is to recognize the behaviors and characteristics of current diffusion in double-plates conductor for further development in the future. The research outcomes would be very useful, particularly in the transmission line study. In this paper, study will be focused on the characteristic of current diffusion in conductor due to its variation impedance value of load particularly when resistive load is smaller than the conductor impedance (Zo). This research is conducted by experimental test and carried out through extensive simulation using MATLAB and Visual Basic Program in MS. Excel. Poynting theory is employed as a validation approach. The simulation and experiment results show that if RL is smaller than the line impedance Zo, deficiency current establish will occur where the electromagnetic energy is not sufficient for the load.

Abstract

Micro hydro has been chosen because it has advantages both economically, technically and as well as in terms of environmental friendliness. Micro hydro is suitable to be used in areas that difficult to be reached by the grid. Problems that often occur in the micro hydro system are not the constant rotation of the generator that caused by a change in load demand of the consumer. Thus causing frequency fluctuations in the system that can lead to damage both in the plant and in terms of consumer electrical appliances. The appropriate control technology should be taken to support the optimum performance of micro hydro. Therefore, this study will discuss a strategy of load frequency control by using Energy Storage. Superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) and capacitor energy storage (CES) are devices that can store energy in the form of a fast magnetic field in the superconducting coil. For the optimum performance, it is necessary to get the optimum tuning of SMES and CES parameters. The artificial intelligence methods, Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA) are used to obtain the optimum parameters in the micro hydro system. The simulation results show that the application of the CSA that use to tune the parameters of hybrid SMES-CES-PID can reduce overshoot oscillation of frequency response in micro hydro power plant.

Abstract

Due to the uncertainty of load demand, the stability of power system becomes more insecure. Small signal stability or low-frequency oscillation is one of stability issues which correspond to power transmission between interconnected power systems. To enhance the small signal stability, an additional controller such as energy storage and flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) devices become inevitable. This paper investigates the application of superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) and thyristor controlled series compensator (TCSC) to mitigate oscillation in a power system. To get the best parameter values of SMES and TCSC, particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used. The performance of the power system equipped with SMES and TCSC was analyzed through time domain simulations. Three machines (whose power ratings are 71.641, 163, and 85 MW) nine buses power system was used for simulation. From the simulation results, it is concluded that SMES and TCSC can mitigate oscillatory condition on the power system especially in lowering the maximum overshoot up to 0.005 pu in this case. It was also approved that PSO can be used to obtain the optimal parameter of SMES and TCSC.

Abstract

Pitch angle of rocket system is the important parts of the rocket. This part corresponds to the movement of the rocket system. Rocket system is fell into multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) system. The most challenge factor in MIMO system is designing the controller, if the design is not appropriate, it may lead to the unstable condition. Hence, appropriate and robust control design is inevitable. This paper introduces PID controller as pitch angle control of rocket system. Furthermore, PID controller parameter is optimized using improved differential evolution algorithm (IDEA). To analyze the performance of rocket system, time domain simulation is implemented. From the simulation result, it is found by using PID controller based on IDEA, the performance of pitch angle of rocket system is enhanced.

Abstract

Masalah penggunaan Power System Stabilizer (PSS) pada eksitasi generator adalah bagaimana menentukan parameter PSS yang optimal. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, penulis menggunakan metode cerdas berbasis algoritma kelelawar untuk mendesain PSS. Algoritma Kelelawar adalah algoritma yang bekerja berdasarkan perilaku kelelawar dalam mencari sumber makanan. Korelasi dengan penelitian ini adalah, sumber makanan yang dicari oleh kelelawar merepresentasikan sebagai parameter PSS yang akan dioptimasi. Algoritma kelelawar akan bekerja berdasarkan fungsi tujuan yang sudah ditentukan, yaitu Integral Time Absolute Error (ITAE). Pada penelitian ini akan dilihat respon deviasi kecepatan dan sudut rotor setiap generator, bila terjadi gangguan di bakaru generator. Hasil analisa menunjukkan, sistem tanpa kontrol menghasilkan osilasi overshoot yang besar, dan setelah tambahan peralatan kontrol PSS osilasi tersebut dapat diredam. Sehingga overshoot dan settling time masing - masing generator dapat dikurangi dan generator dapat dengan cepat menuju ke kondisi steady state.

Abstract

The use of PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controllers on a synchronous motor is very widely used, because of its simple, robust structure that is robust and easy to use. The use of PID controllers requires proper parameter setting for optimal performance on the motor. The most commonly used solution is the trial-error method, to determine the proper parameters for PID, but the results do not make the PID controller optimal. Lately there has been a lot of research to optimize PID controller, wrong with smart method. For this purpose, we will use Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) optimization method to optimize and determine the exact parameters of PID. FPA is one method that is being adapted from the process of plant pollination, so this concept is adapted and applied to be. From the results that have the FPA method can be well tuned parameters PID, so that the resulting overshoot faster and settling time is very fast. Optimization results Kp 0.9441, Ki 0.9311, Kd 0.0840. Abstract

Dibandingkan dengan motor DC, BLDC memiliki biaya perawatan yang lebih rendah dan kecepatan yang lebih tinggi akibat tidak digunakannya brush. Pada umumnya motor jenis ini menggunakan sikat dan mengoperasikannya sangat mudah tinggal dihubungkan dengan sumber DC sehingga motor langsung bekerja. Algoritma Ant Coloni pada prinsipnya mencari sumber makanan berdasarkan jejak feromone yang kemudian secara berkelompok akan mengikuti jejak yang memiliki feromone yang terbesar. Dengan prinsip ini algoritma akan mencari parameter yang paling optimal untuk diisikan pada parameter PID, sehingga didapatkan kendali optimal pada kecepatan BLDC Motor. Hasil optimasi ant colony didapatkan nilai fitness function sebesar 79.4892, dengan 50 kali iterasi, dan parameter nilai PID yang optimal di mana, parameter P (Proportional) sebesar 1.3829, I (Integral) sebesar 0.9869, dan D (Derivative) sebesar 0.4360. Dengan beberapa case kecepatan BLDC motor, dengan kendali PID Ant Colony didapatkan kinerja system optimal dengan overshoot yang minimum dan settling yang cepat.

Abstract

Forecasting the electrical load becomes important, because it can estimate electricity consumption over a certain time range. Accuracy in electric load forecasting can improve safety and reliability in the operation of power systems such as load flow, maintenance of generating units and scheduling of generating units. In this study used case study system Sulselrabar, which is currently growing, but still not much to discuss about the condition of the current system and which will come. Several methods for predicting electrical loads have been widely used, ranging from conventional to smart-based methods. In this research will be proposed method of artificial intelligence for forecasting Short Term load on Sulselrabar system. The method used is based Fuzzy Logic and Cuckoo Search Algorithm. The combination of Fuzzy logic and Cuckoo Search methods is chosen because the combination of both optimizes optimum fuzzy logic membership, so the forecasting results have a very small error. From the results of the research can be concluded that the result of load forecasting using Fuzzy Logic method optimized using Cuckoo Search Algorithm (FL-CSA) is better than Fuzzy Logic that is not optimized. The analysis results using input data 3 months before day H, to predict the load for one week on January 1 to 7 january 2014, and as a comparison used the predicted day H data. From the simulation results, the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) is smaller using FLCSA, for the smallest MAPE on 1 January 2014 of 0.06785208%. While the highest MAPE on January 4, 2014 amounted to -0.44973%.

Abstract

This study discusses the daily electricity load forecasting 24 hours on 150 kV electric power systems sulselrabar. Forecasting electrical load requires the accuracy of the results with a small error. Peak load forecasting methods used to use smart methods Interval Type-1 Fuzzy Logic (IT1FL) and Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic (IT2FL) to predict the needs of the electrical load 1 Ramadan 2016. As input data, it was used load data from 2012 through 2016 for the same day each 1st of Ramadan each year, and as comparative data, it was used actual load data 1, 2016. For the Ramadan input variable, it was used two of the data Variation Load Difference (VLD Max) 2015 as an input variable X, VLD Max 2016 as an input variable Y. From the simulation results obtained highly accurate results where each method produces a very small error, where for methods of using IT1FL of 1.607778264% while using IT2FL by, 1.344510913%.

Abstract

This research will discuss a strategy of frequency control at micro hydro power plant using Capacitive Energy Storage (CES). CES is a device that can store and release energy quickly. To optimize CES performance, proper tuning is required to optimize CES performance. To obtain optimal CES parameter on micro hydro, artificial intelligence method based on Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) is used. Proportional Integral Derivative Controller (PID) is still a controller that can not be separated from the system, therefore in this research will be combined with CES as the main controller for frequency control on micro hydro. The simulation results show that the application of ICA in optimizing PID-CES parameters, can well improve micro hydro performance. The control models discussed in this research are Proportional Controller (P), Proportional Integral Controller (PI), Proportional Derivative Controller (PD), PID Controller, CES Controller and PID-CES Controller. From the simulation results obtained, P controller overshoot of -0.0001254, with PI Controller -0.000125, with PD Controller -0.0001252, with PID controller -0.0001249, with CES controller -0.0001224, and with PID-CES -1.371e-05. From the results of some of the controller models, it can be concluded that the PID-CES controller proposed in this study has a very significant effect to reduce the frequency oscillation in micro hydro, and it is very suitable to be applied for frequency control at micro hydro.
