Abstract

Power transmission line is one of the pivotal parts of a power system. It connects power generation house with the consumer even in the long distances. Research on current diffusion on the conductor is inevitable to maximize the power dispatch on transmission line. The main purpose of this study is to recognize the behaviors and characteristics of current diffusion in double-plates conductor for further development in the future. The research outcomes would be very useful, particularly in the transmission line study. In this paper, study will be focused on the characteristic of current diffusion in conductor due to its variation impedance value of load particularly when resistive load is smaller than the conductor impedance (Zo). This research is conducted by experimental test and carried out through extensive simulation using MATLAB and Visual Basic Program in MS. Excel. Poynting theory is employed as a validation approach. The simulation and experiment results show that if RL is smaller than the line impedance Zo, deficiency current establish will occur where the electromagnetic energy is not sufficient for the load.

Abstract

Micro hydro has been chosen because it has advantages both economically, technically and as well as in terms of environmental friendliness. Micro hydro is suitable to be used in areas that difficult to be reached by the grid. Problems that often occur in the micro hydro system are not the constant rotation of the generator that caused by a change in load demand of the consumer. Thus causing frequency fluctuations in the system that can lead to damage both in the plant and in terms of consumer electrical appliances. The appropriate control technology should be taken to support the optimum performance of micro hydro. Therefore, this study will discuss a strategy of load frequency control by using Energy Storage. Superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) and capacitor energy storage (CES) are devices that can store energy in the form of a fast magnetic field in the superconducting coil. For the optimum performance, it is necessary to get the optimum tuning of SMES and CES parameters. The artificial intelligence methods, Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA) are used to obtain the optimum parameters in the micro hydro system. The simulation results show that the application of the CSA that use to tune the parameters of hybrid SMES-CES-PID can reduce overshoot oscillation of frequency response in micro hydro power plant.

Abstract

Due to the uncertainty of load demand, the stability of power system becomes more insecure. Small signal stability or low-frequency oscillation is one of stability issues which correspond to power transmission between interconnected power systems. To enhance the small signal stability, an additional controller such as energy storage and flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) devices become inevitable. This paper investigates the application of superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) and thyristor controlled series compensator (TCSC) to mitigate oscillation in a power system. To get the best parameter values of SMES and TCSC, particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used. The performance of the power system equipped with SMES and TCSC was analyzed through time domain simulations. Three machines (whose power ratings are 71.641, 163, and 85 MW) nine buses power system was used for simulation. From the simulation results, it is concluded that SMES and TCSC can mitigate oscillatory condition on the power system especially in lowering the maximum overshoot up to 0.005 pu in this case. It was also approved that PSO can be used to obtain the optimal parameter of SMES and TCSC.

Abstract

Pitch angle of rocket system is the important parts of the rocket. This part corresponds to the movement of the rocket system. Rocket system is fell into multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) system. The most challenge factor in MIMO system is designing the controller, if the design is not appropriate, it may lead to the unstable condition. Hence, appropriate and robust control design is inevitable. This paper introduces PID controller as pitch angle control of rocket system. Furthermore, PID controller parameter is optimized using improved differential evolution algorithm (IDEA). To analyze the performance of rocket system, time domain simulation is implemented. From the simulation result, it is found by using PID controller based on IDEA, the performance of pitch angle of rocket system is enhanced.

Abstract

The use of PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controllers on a synchronous motor is very widely used, because of its simple, robust structure that is robust and easy to use. The use of PID controllers requires proper parameter setting for optimal performance on the motor. The most commonly used solution is the trial-error method, to determine the proper parameters for PID, but the results do not make the PID controller optimal. Lately there has been a lot of research to optimize PID controller, wrong with smart method. For this purpose, we will use Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) optimization method to optimize and determine the exact parameters of PID. FPA is one method that is being adapted from the process of plant pollination, so this concept is adapted and applied to be. From the results that have the FPA method can be well tuned parameters PID, so that the resulting overshoot faster and settling time is very fast. Optimization results Kp 0.9441, Ki 0.9311, Kd 0.0840. Abstract

Dibandingkan dengan motor DC, BLDC memiliki biaya perawatan yang lebih rendah dan kecepatan yang lebih tinggi akibat tidak digunakannya brush. Pada umumnya motor jenis ini menggunakan sikat dan mengoperasikannya sangat mudah tinggal dihubungkan dengan sumber DC sehingga motor langsung bekerja. Algoritma Ant Coloni pada prinsipnya mencari sumber makanan berdasarkan jejak feromone yang kemudian secara berkelompok akan mengikuti jejak yang memiliki feromone yang terbesar. Dengan prinsip ini algoritma akan mencari parameter yang paling optimal untuk diisikan pada parameter PID, sehingga didapatkan kendali optimal pada kecepatan BLDC Motor. Hasil optimasi ant colony didapatkan nilai fitness function sebesar 79.4892, dengan 50 kali iterasi, dan parameter nilai PID yang optimal di mana, parameter P (Proportional) sebesar 1.3829, I (Integral) sebesar 0.9869, dan D (Derivative) sebesar 0.4360. Dengan beberapa case kecepatan BLDC motor, dengan kendali PID Ant Colony didapatkan kinerja system optimal dengan overshoot yang minimum dan settling yang cepat.

Abstract

Controlling the speed of dc motor is very important to maintain the stability of motor operation. One of the most commonly used control methods is the proportional integral derivative (PID) controller. In order to operate optimally, PID controllers need the correct parameter tuning. One of the problems in using PID controllers is the determination of the proper PID parameters. In the determination of PID controller parameters is still done conventionally, so the performance of PID becomes not optimal. Therefore, in this research we will propose one of PID parameter tuning method by using intelligent method based on Firefly Algorithm (FA), to optimize and determine the proper parameters of PID. The FA is one of the smart methods inspired by firefly behavior that moves at night with flashing habits, which are then adapted and applied into intelligent algorithms to solve optimization problems. From the results obtained the Firefly method can well tune the PID parameters, so the resulting overshoot does not exist and settling time is very fast. As a comparison, in this study will also discuss the use of intelligent methods based on Bee Colony and Cuckoo Search.Keywords: PID, Bee-Colony, Cuckoo, Firefly, Settling timeAbstrak - Pengontrolan kecepatan motor dc merupakan hal yang sangat penting untuk menjaga stabilitas operasi motor. Salah satu metode pengontrolan yang sering digunakan adalah kontroler proportional integral derivative (PID). Agar dapat beroperasi dengan optimal, kontroler PID membutuhkan penalaan parameter yang tepat. Salah satu permasalahan dalam penggunaan kontroler PID adalah penentuan parameter PID yang tepat. Dalam penentuan parameter kontroler PID selama ini masih dilakukan secara konvensional, sehingga kinerja PID menjadi tidak optimal. Untuk itu pada penelitian ini akan diusulkan salah satu metode penalaan parameter PID dengan menggunakan metode cerdas berbasis Firefly Algorithm (FA), untuk mengoptimasi dan menentukan parameter yang tepat dari PID. FA adalah salah satu metode cerdas yang terinspirasi dari perilaku firefly yang bergerak dimalam hari dengan kebiasaan berkedip, yang kemudian diadaptasi dan diterapkan menjadi algoritma cerdas untuk menyelesaikan masalah optimasi. Dari hasil yang diperoleh metode Firefly dapat dengan baik menala parameter PID, sehingga overshoot yang dihasilkan tidak ada dan settling time sangat cepat. Sebagai pembanding, pada penelitian ini juga akan dibahas penggunaan metode cerdas berbasis Bee Colony dan Cuckoo Search.Kata Kunci : PID, Bee-Colony, Cuckoo, Firefly, Settling time

Abstract

The frequency stability enhancement of a power system is proposed in this paper. To enhance the frequency stability, redox flow batteries (RFB) and the thyristor controlled phase shifter are used. Moreover, to get a better performance, the parameter of RFB and TCSC are optimized by the firefly algorithm (FA). Two area load frequency control plant is used as a test system. Time domain simulation is used to assess the performance of the proposed method (adding RFB and TCPS and optimized using FA). From the simulation results, it is found that by installing RFB and TCSC based on FA in the system, the frequency performance can be maintained above the nadir when perturbation emerges.

Abstract

In this study, a diode characteristic testing will be conducted, namely the characteristics of forward bias and reverse bias using Multisim software. Diode components are mostly applied to electronic circuits, so a simulation is needed to determine the performance of the diode before it is applied to the circuit. The test to be carried out this time includes making a forward bias circuit and back bias on a diode, describing the characteristics of the diode, determining the diode's working point for a particular condition, and determining dc diode resistance in the forward bias and reverse bias. From the results of testing the forward bias characteristic, it can be seen that the silicon diode IN 4001 in forward bias increases the small current until the diode voltage (Vd) reaches its knee voltage (Vk) around 0.6 V - 0.7 V. After going through knee stress (Vk), then the increase in large currents. The workings of diodes like this can be said as diodes with deviant or biased currents. Whereas the reverse bias current is almost constant (almost close to zero) even though the voltage is increased continuously until it reaches a voltage of 50 V. How it works like this is called a diode with reverse current.

Abstract

-Pemantauan terhadap parameter keluaran solar panel sangat diperlukan untuk menilai kinerja sebuah solar panel pada perubahan intensitas cahaya matahari. Pemantauan menggunakan software bertujuan agar pemantauan bersifat realtime sehingga dalam pemantauan tidak memerlukan cara manual dengan menggunakan alat ukur yang tidak bersifat realtime. Selain itu dapat juga difungsikan sebagai data logger, yang sewaktu-waktu dapat digunakan untuk keperluan analisis sistem. Maka, diperlukan sistem monitoring yang dapat mengukur, mengakuisisi, menampilkan dan menyimpan data pengukuran atau pemantauan kinerja solar panel. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tersebut, perangkat dan sistem monitoring dirancang agar memudahkan dalam kegiatan pemantauan unit pada lokasi yang terpasang. Data pemantauan juga diharapkan dapat diakses oleh pihak terkait dengan lebih mudah dan cepat. Pada penelitian ini, monitoring berguna untuk memberikan hasil pengukuran yang memiliki tingkat ralat atau error sekecil mungkin, mudah diakses secara realtime dan mampu menampilkan grafik hasil pengukuran. Perangkat lunak yang digunakan untuk sistem monitoring pada penelitian ini adalah software Labview yang mampu menujukkan kinerja tinggi dalam berkomunikasi dengan beberapa perangkat secara bersamaan dan kemampuan yang tinggi dalam menampilkan beberapa perilaku variabel dalam satu waktu. Pada penelitian ini, monitoring kinerja solar cell yang akan ditampilkan pada Labview adalah arus, tegangan, daya, debu, suhu dan kelembapan.
