Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of the mastery of computational thinking skills of State Junior High School students throughout the city of Semarang with the benefit of being a benchmark for innovation or development of learning models oriented to mastering the computational thinking skills of State Junior High School students in the city of Semarang. This research was conducted in 15 public junior high schools in the city of Semarang on March 25, 2022 - April 30, 2022. The sample in the study amounted to 15 public junior high schools from a population of 45 public junior high schools in the city of Semarang. Data were taken using a free test instrument to measure students' computational thinking skills and teacher questionnaires to obtain information related to learning science in schools. The free test is given online via google form and offline using a question sheet. The total respondents were 328 students as the research sample. The result of this research is that the profile of mastery of computational thinking skills of State Junior High School students in Semarang city gets a score of 54.97. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that students' computational thinking skills are in the medium category and there are still students who have not been able to solve problems with computational thinking skills, namely abstraction, generalization, pattern recognition, decomposition, and algorithms.Keywords: Computational Thinking, Bebras task, Science Learning for State Junior High Schools of Semarang city

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan penguasaan literasi sains yang dimiliki siswa SMP Negeri kelas VIII di Kota Semarang dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal sains menurut PISA. Metode analisis data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu sebanyak 379 siswa kelas VIII pada 15 dari 45 SMP Negeri yang ada di Kota Semarang dengan teknik purposive sampling yang termasuk dalam kelompok probability sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu secara daring menggunakan metode soal tes melalui google form dan secara luring metode soal tes diberikan menggunakan soal pada kertas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwasannya kemampuan penguasaan literasi sains siswa SMP Negeri di Kota Semarang pada kelas VIII menurut PISA memiliki kategori sedang. Dimana secara keseluruhan masing-masing tiap level soal literasi sains memiliki perbedaan skor yang cukup signifikan sehingga literasi sains siswa SMP Negeri di Kota Semarang memiliki kelemahan yaitu pada level 4, 5 dan 6. Level literasi sains yang memiliki skor tertinggi yaitu pada level 1 dengan perolehan sebesar 49%, level 2 dengan skor 46%, level 3 58%, level 4 36%, level 5 41%, dan level 6 34%. Skor pada tiap level terdapat perbedaan karena berbedanya jumlah soal dan jenis soal pada setiap levelnya. Kemampuan penguasaan literasi sains pada siswa SMP Negeri di Kota Semarang termasuk dalam ketegori sedang merupakan salah satu penyebab dari menurunnya nilai rata-rata UN SMP Negeri di Kota Semarang tahun 2019 dan menurunnya kemampuan literasi sains menurut PISA 2015/2018.

Abstract

Waste, especially plastic, is a serious problem in Indonesia. Consumer habits that use plastic products excessively cause an increase in plastic waste which is difficult to decompose and is dangerous for the environment. Waste Management Law: Law Number 18 of 2008 concerning Waste Management (UUPS) defines waste as the remains of human activities or natural processes in solid form. Waste management must be carried out systematically, comprehensively and continuously to prevent environmental pollution and health problems. Creativity in Using Plastic Waste: Converting plastic waste into handicrafts is an effective solution for reducing the amount of plastic waste and providing added value. This service stage is carried out by starting preparations, in this preparation the service team carries out site observations to see conditions in the field. Then prepare the material that will be given. The service team prepared materials according to the needs of Gubug Village. At this socialization and implementation stage, the service team provides outreach regarding the dangers of plastic waste and the management of plastic waste as well as how to market it. The fourth stage is monitoring, the service team determines whether the Gubug Village Community is able to make crafts from plastic waste.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia still face various challenges, including access to markets and the lack of skills in utilizing digital technology to expand their market and increase income. With the rise of the digital era, the use of digital technology and e-commerce can be a solution for MSMEs to enhance their competitiveness and expand their market. As consumer behavior shifts towards online shopping, technology-based marketing strategies can become a key driver in boosting the sales of MSME products. E-commerce offers opportunities for everyone to introduce products or services with unlimited marketing reach. Therefore, business organizations must be adept at identifying effective marketing opportunities in the digital era that are both cost-efficient and impactful. The main focus of this community service project is to increase the market share and sales turnover of MSME products in Bugangan Village, Semarang City, through appropriate marketing strategies. The stages of this service begin with preparation. In this stage, the community service team conducts site visits and initial field observations to assess the conditions and challenges faced by the partners directly.  Then, the preparation of materials to be delivered follows. The team prepares materials that are tailored to the needs of Bugangan Village. The third stage is socialization and implementation. As a result of the activities, 20 MSMEs in Bugangan Village, Semarang City, gained knowledge about online or digital marketing, product photography, content creation with Canva, Google My Business, and setting up e-commerce accounts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan mengetahui validitas e-modul berbasis etnosains pada materi fisika fluida untuk kelas XI MIPA SMA/MA Semester gasal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan RnD dengan model Sugiyono yang terdiri dari tahapan potensi dan masalah, mengumpulkan informasi, desain produk, validasi produk, revisi produk, dan uji coba produk. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIPA dengan jumlah 22 siswa, 2 guru fisika di Ma An Nihdam Demak sebagai validator praktisi, dan 2 dosen Universitas PGRI Semarang sebagai validator ahli ahli bahan ajar. Hasil validasi ahli materi diperoleh presentase sebesar 79,4%, validasi ahli media diperoleh presentase sebesar 92,3%, hasil validasi praktisi diperoleh rata- rata presentase  94%   dan  respon  siswa diperoleh presentase sebesar 87,7%.  Hasil  penelitian menunjukan bahwa e-modul sudah memenuhi kriteria kualitas yang ditentukan, sehingga dapat digunakan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran fisik.

Abstract

Pada era modern saat ini permasalahan efisiensi energi dan kenyamanan termal menjadi perhatian penting dalam pembangunan terutama di daerah yang beriklim tropis yang memiliki intensitas paparan sinar matahari yang tinggi. Penelitian ini menginvestigasi dampak penggunaan cat reflektif pada ketahanan panas atap. Tujuannya adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas cat reflektif dalam mengurangi penyerapan panas pada atap genteng. Percobaan ini membandingkan suhu permukaan atap genteng biasa dengan atap genteng yang dilapisi cat reflektif. Penelitian ini menggunakan sensor suhu LM35 yang terhubung ke Arduino Uno, mengukur suhu permukaan atas dan bawah setiap menit selama 15 menit. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa atap yang tidak dilapisi cat reflektif mengalami peningkatan suhu permukaan yang lebih cepat, mencapai hampir 50°C, sedangkan atap yang dilapisi cat reflektif mencapai sekitar 38°C. Perbedaan suhu yang signifikan ini menunjukkan bahwa cat reflektif secara efektif mengurangi penyerapan panas dan meningkatkan efisiensi termal bangunan. Oleh karena itu, mengaplikasikan cat reflektif pada atap merupakan solusi yang berharga dalam mempromosikan bangunan hijau dan efisiensi energi.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the competency of senior high school teachers in Brebes Regency in designing Mathematics TKA questions through training and mentoring. The implementation method consisted of 2 offline days for harmonizing perceptions and designing questions, one week of structured tasks for question creation, and one online day for presenting results. A total of 56 senior high school teachers from Brebes Regency participated in the training. The pre-training survey showed that most teachers had limited understanding of designing TKA questions, but after the training, there was a significant improvement, with 53 teachers understanding and 50 teachers highly motivated to design TKA questions. Evaluation results indicated high satisfaction, with 50 teachers very satisfied and 55 teachers finding the material highly relevant. In conclusion, the training was effective in improving teachers' competencies in designing TKA questions, although there were challenges related to the limited time and the training's proximity to the exam schedule

Abstract

This research lays the groundwork for developing an integrated STEM-based science e-module on energy material for Grade VIII students. The study aims to analyze the presence of STEM components—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—and scientific literacy in Grade VIII science textbooks covering energy topics. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research examines the energy material presented in the Grade VIII science textbook published by the Center for Books, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The analysis reveals that the science component dominates the discussion, while technology, engineering, and mathematics are largely absent. Regarding scientific literacy, the textbook presents energy concepts primarily by explaining science as knowledge and its applications in society. However, elements related to scientific inquiry, historical contributions, and science as a way of thinking are not integrated into the material

Abstract

This study aims to describe the understanding of Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) students regarding Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) learning. The research data were collected from PGSD students at Universitas PGRI Semarang using questionnaires and interviews. A total of 50 students enrolled in the Environmental Education course participated as respondents in this study. The students were given questionnaires and interviewed to obtain data on their understanding of STEAM. The results showed that the understanding of STEAM among PGSD students at Universitas PGRI Semarang could be categorized into five levels: very good understanding (SM), good understanding (M), fair understanding (CM), poor understanding (TM), and very poor understanding (STM). The findings revealed that 46% of students demonstrated a very good understanding of STEAM, 26% had a good understanding, 24% had a fair understanding, 2% had a poor understanding, and 2% had a very poor understanding of STEAM.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted by multiplication number card media on students’ mathematical communication skills. The study was motivated by the low mathematical communication ability of third-grade students and the limited variation in the learning models applied in the classroom. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a pretest–posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 24 students in the experimental class and 29 students in the control class. The research instrument was an essay test that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis included the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing using the independent samples t-test. The results showed a significant difference between the posttest scores of the experimental and control classes. The experimental class obtained an average posttest score of 86.35, while the control class scored 73.88. The hypothesis test indicated a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, confirming a significant difference between the two classes. Analysis of each indicator revealed that although Drawing was the lowest-performing indicator, the experimental class still showed better improvement compared to the control class. The Written Text and Mathematical Expression indicators also showed consistent improvement. Therefore, it is concluded that the TGT learning model assisted by multiplication number card media has a significant effect on students’ mathematical communication skills.
