Abstract

This study aims to describe the understanding of Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) students regarding Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) learning. The research data were collected from PGSD students at Universitas PGRI Semarang using questionnaires and interviews. A total of 50 students enrolled in the Environmental Education course participated as respondents in this study. The students were given questionnaires and interviewed to obtain data on their understanding of STEAM. The results showed that the understanding of STEAM among PGSD students at Universitas PGRI Semarang could be categorized into five levels: very good understanding (SM), good understanding (M), fair understanding (CM), poor understanding (TM), and very poor understanding (STM). The findings revealed that 46% of students demonstrated a very good understanding of STEAM, 26% had a good understanding, 24% had a fair understanding, 2% had a poor understanding, and 2% had a very poor understanding of STEAM.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the competency of senior high school teachers in Brebes Regency in designing Mathematics TKA questions through training and mentoring. The implementation method consisted of 2 offline days for harmonizing perceptions and designing questions, one week of structured tasks for question creation, and one online day for presenting results. A total of 56 senior high school teachers from Brebes Regency participated in the training. The pre-training survey showed that most teachers had limited understanding of designing TKA questions, but after the training, there was a significant improvement, with 53 teachers understanding and 50 teachers highly motivated to design TKA questions. Evaluation results indicated high satisfaction, with 50 teachers very satisfied and 55 teachers finding the material highly relevant. In conclusion, the training was effective in improving teachers' competencies in designing TKA questions, although there were challenges related to the limited time and the training's proximity to the exam schedule

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to identify the potential for using educational media, such as websites that focus on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), in thermochemistry materials. Data was gathered using a descriptive qualitative approach through observation, surveys, interviews, and an analysis of the teaching materials from 10 chemistry teachers and 72 11th-grade students at SMAN 1 Kedungwuni. The results show that 80% of teachers fall into the Proficient category, and all respondents (100%) expressed some or a great deal of agreement with the use of website-based media. About 40% of teachers have already integrated ESD, 40% understand it but have not yet implemented it, and 20% do not understand it. According to the analysis module, just 38% of the material fully explains ESD. According to 89% of respondents, media websites are effective in visualizing abstract concepts and have a high potential for implementation

Abstract

The low scientific literacy of Indonesian students, consistently below the international average, according to the PISA survey, demands contextual and participatory learning innovations. This study aims to analyze the dimensions of scientific literacy in high school students through the implementation of a citizen science project on the topic of mechanical energy, evaluating its effectiveness as a pedagogical strategy to address the persistently low science literacy of Indonesian students. The research uses a mixed-methods approach, focusing on analyzing the use of mechanical energy in students' daily transportation. The results show a significant improvement in students' understanding of physics concepts, particularly in the context dimension (the ability to apply knowledge to real situations) and the attitude dimension (interest in science). However, the study also identifies an area requiring further development: the science process dimension, specifically the skills to critically evaluate data and scientific processes. In conclusion, citizen science successfully transformed learning from theoretical memorization into a meaningful, authentic inquiry experience. For sustainability and optimization, a systemic commitment is needed to integrate this approach into the curriculum, along with adequate training and resource support for teachers, to equip students with the science competencies required for the 21st century.

Abstract

Abstract: Reading literacy is a critical aspect of supporting the student learning process. Therefore, this study evaluated students' reading literacy skills through the Teaching at The Right Level (TaRL) approach at SD Supriyadi 02 Semarang. The study's objectives are: (1) To describe the level of reading literacy of second-grade students using the TaRL approach, and (2) To identify several factors supporting inhibit-ing students' reading literacy through the TaRL approach second-grade. This study uses qualitative and descriptive research methods data collection techniques through interviews, non-participant observations, and documentation. Data validity is carried out by triangulation of sources and techniques and data analysis techniques using data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion. Based on the study's results, it concluded that the level of reading literacy ability of grade II students SD Supriyadi 02 varied. There are no students at the beginner letter level; at the word level, there are 4 students, 10 students at the sentence level, 9 students at the paragraph level, and 7 students at the story level. The results of student ability tests are in the excellent category, as seen by the ability level achieved by the student. So, with students' reading literacy skills through the TaRL approach, they can minimize their low reading literacy with regular reading activities.Keywords: Reading Literacy; TaRL Abstrak: Literasi membaca adalah aspek penting dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran siswa. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi kemampuan literasi membaca siswa melalui pendekatan Teaching at The Right Level (TaRL) di SD Supriyadi 02 Semarang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) Mendeskripsikan tingkat kemampuan literasi membaca siswa kelas dua menggunakan pendekatan TaRL, dan (2) Mengidentifikasi beberapa faktor pendukung dan penghambat literasi membaca siswa melalui pendekatan TaRL di kelas dua. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan jenis penelitian deskriptif . Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi non partisipan, dan dokumentasi. Keabsahan data dilakukan dengan triangulasi sumber dan teknik, serta teknik analisis data menggunakan pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa tingkat kemampuan literasi baca siswa kelas II SD Supriyadi 02  bervariasi. Tidak terdapat siswa pada level pemula dan huruf, level kata terdapat 4 siswa, 10 siswa pada level kalimat,  dan 9 siswa pada level paragraf, serta 7 siswa pada level cerita. Hasil kemampuan tes siswa masuk dalam kategori baik dilihat dengan ting-kat kemampuan level yang dicapai oleh siswa. Sehingga dengan kemampuan literasi membaca siswa melalui pendekatan TaRL dapat meminimalisir rendahnya literasi membaca siswa dengan kegiatan membaca yang dilakukan secara rutin.Kata kunci: literasi membaca; TaRL

Abstract

To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), wind energy optimization is crucial, but it is often ineffective in environments with low wind speeds and high turbulence. This systematic literature review (SLR) examines the impact of wind turbine design modifications on improving aerodynamic performance. This study analyzes peer-reviewed articles from the Scopus database published between 2018 and 2025 using the PRISMA protocol. The selection process focused on physical design interventions, analysis techniques, and quantitative performance parameters. The results show that blade geometry modifications dominate the literature, with research covering conventional optimization approaches as well as emerging strategies such as biomimicry, blade tip engineering, and additive manufacturing materials. Methodologically, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations are predominantly used over purely experimental methods. Overall, the design modifications reviewed showed improvements in power coefficient (Cp) and initial torque characteristics. This study concludes that physical designs tailored to local wind conditions are crucial for maximizing wind energy potential in areas with limited resources.

Abstract

Students' ability to analyze abstract topics using their critical thinking skills depends on their understanding of the related concepts. Many science concepts are not well-developed, leading to misconceptions among many students. The mixed-methods approach in this study involved administering a diagnostic test within a quantitative framework, followed by the researcher providing assessments and justifications, along with each student's level of confidence. In the qualitative methodology, the researcher conducted interviews with several students to gather data on the underlying causes of misconceptions regarding electricity. Based on the overall results of the students' answers, the percentage of students who experienced misconceptions about the electricity material was 18% and was classified as low. Meanwhile, the results of the students' answers to each question showed that the percentage of misconceptions most frequently experienced by students was for question number four, which had a 38% response rate, with the question indicator explaining changes in electrical energy. According to one of the students' answers, they experienced misconceptions because the multiple-choice options provided incorrect answers, and the reasons for these incorrect answers were also incorrect. However, the student was confident in their answer, resulting in a CRI score greater than 2.5, which falls into the high category. Some students experience misconceptions because the concepts they receive from teachers are not fully understood, the learning methods used by teachers are not yet able to bridge students who have limitations in understanding and differences in learning styles, the use of textbooks by teachers in learning does not provide a comprehensive or complete explanation so that children feel they have a piecemeal understanding, and the learning activities carried out by teachers in developing skills and collaboration between students are not yet fully apparent.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically examine empirical evidence from the past five years regarding the impact of the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) approach on students’ critical thinking skills at the primary and secondary education levels. A qualitative Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method was employed. The literature was collected via Google Scholar, focusing on publications from 2019 to 2024, using a combination of keywords in both Indonesian and English. Out of 98 articles initially identified, only ten were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and further assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute Checklist for quality appraisal. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis, categorizing studies based on educational level, subject matter, learning models, research methods, instruments used, and research outcomes. The review findings indicate that approximately 90% of the studies reported a significant improvement in students’ critical thinking skills through the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) integrated with STEAM. The most substantial effects were observed at the senior high school level, particularly in Physics and Biology subjects. At the elementary level, the STEAM approach was more effective when combined with play-based or exploratory learning activities. In junior high schools (SMP and MTs), STEAM served as a bridge between foundational conceptual understanding and the development of analytical skills. These findings highlight that the effectiveness of STEAM is highly contextual and influenced by students’ cognitive readiness, teacher support, and the socio-economic conditions of schools. The study concludes that STEAM should not be viewed merely as a pedagogical strategy, but as an adaptive educational practice. Practical implications include the need for differentiated instructional strategies, equitable access to learning resources, and teacher training programs to support more widespread and equitable implementation.

Abstract

The implementation of the green economy requires massive and sustainable training and workshops. The purpose of this activity is to provide integrative training in implementing the green economy in rural areas for the PKK group and the Agro Rimba Abadi forest farmer group. The method used is participatory action research (PAR). Participants are involved in all activities, including collecting data on the necessary training needs and following up on activities after participating in the training. There are 4 training themes, namely: pineapple cultivation, designing products suitable for sale, business licenses, and e-commerce. The results obtained were: increased understanding of partners consisted of 3 groups, namely: experiencing an increase, not experiencing change, and experiencing a decrease. A total of 67% of participants had an increased understanding of the theme of "pineapple cultivation", 81% of participants did not experience a change in understanding of the training theme "business license", and 19% of participants experienced a decrease in understanding of the theme of "plant cultivation". Training activities by proposing business licenses, creating online marketplaces, and making more attractive product designs so that they can increase community income.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teacher strategies in improving third-grade student’s learning motivation in Indonesia language subjects at Semesta Bilingual School Elementary School. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects include the principal, third-grade teachers, and third-grade students. Data collection techniques were carried out throught interviews, observation, and questionnaires. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative techniques throught the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that teacher strategies in improving student learning motivation are carried out through communicative and fun learning, the use of varied methods, and the provision of rewards in the form of points, praise, and symbols of appreciation. In addition, teachers also create a conducive learning atmosphere and adjust the use of Indonesian and English in learning. These strategies are able to increase student activity, enthusiasm, and involvement in learning Indonesia in a bilingual environment. Supporting factors include the availability of learning resources and environmental support. Meanwhile, the challenge is the dominance of the use of English in school. Thus, teacher strategies play an important role in improving student learning motivation.
