Abstract

The use of steel panels in conventional bulletproof vests is no longer relevant to current needs. In addition to being heavy, troop flexibility is disrupted. It is necessary to develop lighter and more reliable composite panels. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of organosilica resin composite panels that were given variations of 5, 7 and 9 layers of woven fiberglass to withstand 9 mm caliber bullets using the NIJ-0101.06 Standard. The results of the firing test showed that the bullets were held back in the 7th and 9th layers. This result shows that this composite is a worthy candidate to replace conventional steel panels in bulletproof vests.

Abstract

Indonesia's defense industry faces significant challenges, including heavy reliance on foreign technologies and inconsistent implementation of policies like Law No. 16 of 2012, which hampers progress toward self-reliance. This study aims to develop a comprehensive framework integrating innovation and risk management to enhance the competitiveness and independence of Indonesia's defense sector. Using a qualitative research design, the study draws on extensive literature reviews and secondary data analysis, comparing Indonesia's defense industry with that of other countries like South Korea and Turkey. The findings reveal that international and domestic strategic collaborations are essential for technology transfer, improving local capabilities, and aligning defense production with national security goals. Investing in high-performance work systems (HPWS) and human capital fosters technological innovation and reduces foreign dependency. The study also identifies the need for a more consistent regulatory framework and long-term investment in research and development (RD) to address supply chain risks and financial constraints. These insights provide practical recommendations for policymakers, emphasizing that sustainable defense industry growth requires a multifaceted approach involving collaboration between government, industry, and research institutions. Ultimately, this research contributes to the strategic roadmap for achieving Indonesia's defense self-sufficiency and competitiveness in the global market.

Abstract

The emergence of drone kamikazes as an effective and efficient means of destroying ground targets from the air has been a global concern, especially since Russia's airstrikes on Ukraine in 2022. This technology introduces a new dimension in modern warfare, presenting significant challenges to the defense and security of national airspace. In addition to being effective in destroying targets, the use of  drones is also very efficient in terms of the cost of conducting air operations compared to air campaigns using fighter aircraft. Ultimately, drone kamikaze attacks  also have the potential to be used in asymmetric attacks, including attacks carried out by insurgent in peacetime.   Anticipating this, a new strategic approach is urgently needed to protect national vital objects and secure very important persons (VIPs). The resulting perspective identifies the vulnerability of air defense systems to the swarm tactics and stealth approaches used  by drone kamikazes.  This paper highlights the importance of integrating advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, radar systems and electronic warfare capabilities to effectively detect, intercept, and neutralize drone kamikaze threats   , especially those of  the fixed-wing drone type  . In addition to the technical aspect, the importance of coordinated collaboration between domestic stakeholders and international cooperation to overcome the proliferation of drone technology  considering that fixed-wing drone technology  can already be produced locally. By adopting a layered air defense strategy, it also offers a holistic approach that includes proactive threat detection, resilient defense systems, and adaptive strategic response and underscores the need for continuous innovation to keep pace with technological developments and drone kamikaze attack tactics  in delivering important insights for policymakers, defense strategists, and security professionals in Plan A strong national air defense framework to reduce the risk of kamikaze drone threats  , especially domestically made fixed-wing kamikaze drones.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of radar data integration between Indonesia and Singapore to enhance the airspace security system in the Riau Islands and Natuna. The focus includes analyzing the implications of the Leaders Retreat 2022 policy, evaluating bilateral collaborative efforts, and formulating technology-based strategies for managing the Flight Information Region (FIR). This research adopts a Mixed Methods Sequential Explanatory approach, combining quantitative analysis of airspace violation data and qualitative analysis of policies and expert interviews. Quantitative data is processed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data is analyzed using the constant comparative method. The study reveals that radar data integration improves the effectiveness of airspace surveillance, strengthens Air Sovereignty, and supports flight safety. Technology-based collaborative strategies, such as the use of advanced radar systems and integrated personnel training, are key to successful implementation. This research contributes new insights to the study of airspace security by proposing a radar data integration model that is responsive and adaptive to geopolitical dynamics in the strategic regions of the Riau Islands and Natuna.

Abstract

Modern defense operations require resilient human–AI teaming under cognitive stress, yet static systems often fail to adapt, reducing trust and mission effectiveness. A Systematic Literature Review (2016–2025) across human factors, neuroergonomics, and defense HCI was conducted to conceptualize a Neuroadaptive User Experience (NUX) framework. Findings show that multimodal neurophysiological sensing (EEG, heart rate variability, eye tracking) can detect workload fluctuations, while adaptive interventions—task redistribution, interface simplification, and timing adjustments—sustain performance and accelerate recovery. The NUX framework integrates state sensing, interpretation, adaptive automation, and transparent feedback. Despite challenges in sensor reliability, calibration, and ethical governance, NUX represents a paradigm shift toward human-centered defense systems that enhance resilience, trust, and mission outcomes.

Abstract

This article discusses the innovative design of military medical robot bodies with an emphasis on selecting optimal materials and structures to improve durability and performance. Military medical robots are designed to support training activities and rescue operations. This study evaluated a number of materials, including carbon fiber, titanium, and composites selected based on strength, corrosion resistance, and ability to absorb impact. Additionally, the lightweight yet strong structure supports energy efficiency, allowing the robot to operate longer without needing frequent recharging. Tests show that the right combination of materials increases the robot's resistance to harsh terrain conditions and ensures the stability of the medical equipment inside. The selection of efficient materials and flexible structures in the body design of this military medical robot is expected to strengthen the effectiveness and safety for medical personnel and the TNI when operated.

Abstract

The stealth capability in modern defense technology heavily relies on materials that can evade radar detection. Nano-based materials, such as graphene and carbon nanotubes (CNT), have emerged as innovative solutions with superior electromagnetic and physical properties. This study aims to analyze the potential and challenges of using nano materials in stealth technology, highlighting their ability to absorb radar waves through electron resonance interactions and high surface properties. Graphene, with its two-dimensional carbon atomic structure and high conductivity, and CNT, which features a nano-tube structure with exceptional thermal and mechanical properties, have been shown to significantly reduce radar reflection. However, challenges in mass production and material stability under extreme conditions still pose barriers. This study also compares the advantages of nano materials with conventional materials such as ferrite and heavy metals, showing that nano materials are lighter, more flexible, and more efficient. Through a review of current literature, this research reveals that nano materials have the potential to replace or complement conventional stealth materials in future military applications.
