Abstract

Sociology and anthropology approaches offer unique perspectives in understanding Islam as a social and cultural phenomenon. Both allow a deeper exploration of religious dynamics, people's behavior, and Islam's interaction with society. This approach not only sees Islam as a normative teaching based on sacred texts, but also as a social system that continues to develop. This research uses a qualitative method with literature study as a data collection technique. In the context of Islamic education, the sociology approach helps to understand how social structure, environment and policies affect religious learning, while anthropology highlights the role of tradition and local wisdom in the educational process. Islamic education aims not only to transfer religious knowledge, but also to shape character, internalize social norms and adapt to cultural changes. This approach makes Islamic education more contextual, relevant and inclusive, enabling learners to understand and apply Islamic teachings in social life. In conclusion, the application of sociology and anthropology in Islamic education can enrich insights into the relationship between religion and social reality, bridge tradition and innovation, and encourage inclusiveness in religious practice in modern society.

Abstract

Tolerance is a fundamental value in Islamic teachings that becomes increasingly relevant in pluralistic societies. However, deviations in the understanding and practice of tolerance still occur due to radicalism, extremism, and low levels of pluralistic awareness. This study aims to comprehensively examine the concept of tolerance in Islam and its role in education as an effort to build an inclusive and moderate character. The method used is normative qualitative research with a library study approach, involving theological, historical, and pedagogical analysis of primary sources such as the Qur’an, Hadith, and Islamic literature. The results show that tolerance in Islam has strong theological foundations, has been practiced since the time of the Prophet, and is highly strategic to be developed through the educational system.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the life and personality of Kiai Haji Ahmad Dahlan from a historical and analytical perspective, focusing on his pioneering role in Islamic reform in Indonesia and the dynamics surrounding the birth and early development of the Muhammadiyah organization. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through library research, concentrating on the analysis of historical documents, scholarly works, as well as primary and secondary sources related to the figure and the Muhammadiyah movement. Data were collected using documentation techniques and analyzed descriptively and analytically through an inductive approach to formulate findings in a systematic and objective manner. The findings indicate that K.H. Ahmad Dahlan was a visionary Islamic reformer with a balanced character of scholarly depth, spiritual piety, and social concern. He not only promoted theological renewal grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah but also manifested it through social movements via Muhammadiyah. This organization served as a medium for transformation through modern education, healthcare services, women’s empowerment, and various charitable initiatives. With its rational and structured approach, Muhammadiyah emerged as a representation of progressive Islam that is responsive to contemporary needs. These findings affirm that Ahmad Dahlan and Muhammadiyah are not merely part of Indonesia’s Islamic history but stand as a living model of Islam as a liberating and constructive force for a civilized and progressive society.

Abstract

Abstrak Studi ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pendekatan fenomenologis dalam konteks studi Islam serta menganalisis fenomena keberagamaan dalam masyarakat Muslim kontemporer. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi sebagai kerangka konseptual. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan fenomenologis memberikan pemahaman yang mendalam terhadap pengalaman keberagamaan individu dalam konteks sosial dan budaya yang kompleks. Temuan ini menggambarkan keragaman praktik keagamaan dan interpretasi personal terhadap ajaran Islam dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Implikasi dari studi ini menyoroti pentingnya memahami dinamika keberagamaan dalam masyarakat Muslim kontemporer serta menekankan perlunya pendekatan yang inklusif dan empatik dalam studi Islam. Kata Kunci: Studi Islam, Fenomenologis Abstract This study aims to explain the phenomenological approach in the context of Islamic studies and analyze religious phenomena in contemporary Muslim society. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach as a conceptual framework. Data was collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The research results show that the phenomenological approach provides a deep understanding of individual religious experiences in a complex social and cultural context. These findings illustrate the diversity of religious practices and personal interpretations of Islamic teachings in everyday life. The implications of this study highlight the importance of understanding religious dynamics in contemporary Muslim societies and emphasize the need for an inclusive and empathetic approach in the study of Islam. Abstract

The Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) is a legal entity that emerged based on the need for a legal basis and reference for Muslims, especially for judges in the Religious Courts in Indonesia in deciding a case. The presence of the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI), makes it easier for judges to make decisions, and these decisions become jurisprudence within the Indonesian Religious Courts. Before the presence of the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI), judges took references from various classical books scattered across various schools of thought (Safi`I, Maliki, Hanafi, Hambali), so it is not uncommon for different decisions to occur in the same case. The Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI), although not yet equivalent to the Law, has received quite a positive response in meeting basic legal needs, especially in the fields of marriage, inheritance, zakat and wills in Indonesia. This article was written using the library research method, by looking at various books and literature and used as references. In this conclusion, it mentions history, matters regarding the Compilation of Islamic Law up to its position in the legal system and legislation in Indonesia.

Abstract

Islam merupakan salah satu agama besar dunia yang lahir pada abad ke-7 M di Jazirah Arab melalui risalah Nabi Muhammad SAW. Sebagai agama monoteistik yang berakar pada tradisi Ibrahimik, Islam tidak hanya berperan sebagai sistem keimanan, tetapi juga sebagai panduan hidup yang mencakup aspek spiritual, sosial, politik, dan budaya. Kajian ini mengeksplorasi dua aspek utama Islam, yakni aspek historis dan doktrinal. Secara historis, Islam menunjukkan perkembangan yang pesat sejak era kenabian hingga masa kekhalifahan, di mana ekspansinya mencakup berbagai wilayah seperti Timur Tengah, Afrika Utara, Eropa, dan Asia. Perkembangan ini tidak hanya membawa Islam sebagai agama, tetapi juga membentuk peradaban yang kaya akan tradisi intelektual, budaya, dan administratif. Dari aspek doktrinal, Islam berlandaskan pada dua sumber utama: Al-Qur'an, yang diyakini sebagai firman Allah, dan Hadis, yakni catatan dari perkataan, tindakan, serta persetujuan Nabi Muhammad SAW. Keduanya menjadi dasar bagi pengembangan berbagai disiplin ilmu, seperti teologi, hukum Islam, dan tasawuf. Integrasi antara aspek spiritual dan pragmatis dalam doktrin Islam menjadikannya relevan sepanjang zaman. Artikel ini menyoroti bagaimana Islam, melalui dimensi historis dan doktrinalnya, berkembang sebagai kekuatan spiritual dan peradaban yang memberikan kontribusi besar terhadap sejarah dan masyarakat global.

Abstract

Pendekatan normatif-teologis dalam studi Islam merupakan pendekatan yang fundamental dalam memahami dan menerapkan ajaran agama Islam. Pendekatan ini menekankan pada kebenaran mutlak ajaran Islam yang dipandang berasal dari wahyu ilahi, termasuk Al-Qur'an dan Hadis. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menggali dan menganalisis bagaimana pendekatan normatif-teologis digunakan dalam menafsirkan ajaran Islam, serta dampaknya terhadap praktik keagamaan dan pemikiran umat Islam secara umum. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis literatur dan studi pustaka untuk mengeksplorasi berbagai teks-teks suci dan literatur Islam yang relevan, serta mengumpulkan pandangan dari para ahli studi agama dan pemikiran Islam. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan normatif-teologis memberikan landasan yang kuat bagi umat Islam dalam mempertahankan identitas keagamaan mereka dan memelihara keaslian ajaran Islam. Namun, pendekatan ini juga dapat menimbulkan tantangan dalam menghadapi dinamika sosial dan kemajuan zaman yang sering kali tidak tercakup secara eksplisit dalam teks-teks suci.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of pesantren in regenerating ulama through modernization, as well as the educational strategies and Islamic law applied in the historical, social, and political contexts. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this research examines pesantren that adopt modernization in curriculum and management. The results showed that pesantren succeeded in modernizing education without sacrificing traditional values, producing ulama who are adaptive to the times. This study concludes that the regeneration of ulama through modernization of pesantren is very relevant to produce competent ulama in the global era, while still maintaining the authenticity of tradition. Further research is recommended to analyze the impact of modernization on the authority of the ulama and the effectiveness of the use of technology in pesantren education.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an example of a curriculum development strategy that integrates Islamic values into the design of formal education curricula at the educational unit level. The integration of Islamic values is believed to shape students' character holistically through the alignment of spiritual, cognitive, and affective aspects. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method in an Islamic educational institution that has implemented an integrative curriculum. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results indicate that the integrative curriculum development strategy includes curriculum planning based on the values of monotheism, collaboration between subject teachers and religious teachers, and evaluation based on noble character. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of synergy between Islamic values and academic competencies in developing relevant and transformative curriculum innovations with potential. Recommendations are provided for curriculum developers to be more responsive to the challenges of the times while adhering to Islamic values as the foundation of education.

Abstract

The phenomena of discrimination, intercultural stereotypes, the dominance of majority culture in the curriculum, and teachers' lack of understanding of diversity are critical issues in the education system. This study aims to identify multicultural issues in education in Indonesia, analyze their impact on the teaching and learning process, and formulate strategic solutions for the development of effective multicultural education. The methodology used is a literature review with descriptive-qualitative analysis of various literature sources, scientific journals, and policy documents related to multicultural education. The results of the study indicate that multicultural education has not been optimally implemented due to an exclusive curriculum, insufficient teacher training, and weak educational policies that are unresponsive to diversity. As a result, students from minority groups experience marginalization, decreased motivation to learn, and feelings of alienation.
