Abstract

Factors Associated with the Location of Osteoarthritis Genue in Elderly Patients at Ibnu Sina Hospital in 2021-2024. Osteoarthritis is a common form of arthritis in geriatric populations that can cause damage to the bones and their surroundings. There are several things that are risk factors for Osteoarthritis. This study aims to make observations related to factors that can affect the occurrence of Osteoarthritis in the elderly, the data used is the patient's medical records recorded in the hospital. This study uses the cross-sectional study method. Univariate or characteristic analysis uses frequency distribution analysis and bivariate analysis or analysis of relationships between variables using the chi-square test. The results of the study showed that there was an effect of disease history on the risk of osteoarthritis in the elderly. Hypertension is one of the risk factors that can increase the incidence of osteoarthritis, especially in men, this is related to the activity of endogenous receptors (AR) in the Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Post-Mastectomy Pain Syndrome (PMPS) is a chronic neuropathic pain lasting over three months after mastectomy, often affecting the chest, axilla, or arm, yet data on its prevalence in Eastern Indonesia remain scarce. Objective: To describe the characteristics and impact of PMPS among post-mastectomy patients at Ibnu Sina Hospital. Methods: A descriptive observational study was conducted involving 30 post-mastectomy patients diagnosed with PMPS, using univariate analysis with SPSS 25.0 to assess pain characteristics and quality-of-life effects, with neuropathic pain defined as a score >/ 4 on the Neuropathic Pain Scale. Results: The majority of patients (76.7%) experienced chronic pain localized mainly to the anterior chest and axilla, often radiating to the upper arm. About 70.0% reported significant interference with daily activities, sleep disturbance, and psychological distress, while 60.0% experienced pain exacerbation during shoulder movement. Neuropathic characteristics such as burning and tingling sensations were frequently reported, with moderate to severe pain intensity noted in over half of the participants. These findings indicate that PMPS substantially compromises patients’ physical function and emotional well-being during postoperative recovery. Conclusion: PMPS prevalence is high and markedly affects quality of life, necessitating early screening and multidisciplinary pain management in post-mastectomy care.

Abstract

Hypertension is a condition where the systole is more than or equal to 140  and the diastole is more than or equal to 90 mmHg. In Indonesia the number of hypertension sufferers reaches 70 million people. The prevalence of hypertension in adults is 6-15%. Hypertension that has been going on for a long time and is not controlled, impacts the blood vessels in the kidneys and causes sclerosis of the blood vessels resulting in glomerular damage and tubular atrophy leading to kidney damage. methods: This is a descriptive study with a cross design sectional Results : Hypertension sufferers with the highest incidence of chronic kidney disease are aged 55-64 years (32.9%), the gender is mostly male (57.6%) while female (424%), with a long history of suffering from hypertension is ≥5 year (63,5%), the highest blood pressure control was found in uncontrolled blood pressure (56.5%), and the use of antihypertensive drugs in the form of CCB drugs (51.8%).Conclusion: Hypertensive patients with the incidence of chronic kidney disease at Ibnu Sina Hospital, Makassar City in 2022-23 are mostly at the age of 55-64 years, male with a long history of suffering from hypertension of 5-10 years and control of uncontrolled blood pressure and use of other types of antihypertensive medication, namely Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB).
